Details about this trip
💚💚It`s absolutely astonishing how many people connect Finland to northern lights, snow and winter only. This trip will show another side of this fascinating country and how you will want to completely experience Finland during a wonderful warm summer weekend. 💚💚 **************************************************************************************** Hi fellow traveller👋 ! My name is Maria and I have planned and successfully guided multiple trips on Joinmytrip in the past 1.5 years. You can learn more about me and my previous trips on my JMT page: https://www.joinmytrip.com/en/t/tripleader/mariaschoenfeld The days in the north are getting longer and by mid-June Finland and the mostnorthern hemisphere will experience the longest day of the year when the sun never sets below the horizon and the nights remain bright. On this long weekend getaway, I would love to share with you the experience of celebrating the summer solstice here in Helsinki with traditional bonfire and local festive dishes💫.

🌠𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐏 𝐒𝐎 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 & 𝐖𝐇𝐘 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐋 𝐓𝐎 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃? I have a full itinerary planned out for us during the entire weekend in Helsinki 🛵. We will explore the city under the guidance of an experienced local guide and discover new corners beyond the centre by bike. My highlight is the celebration of the Mid-Summer Festival, which is annually held on the small island of Seurasaari just outside Helsinki. There is a beautiful Open-Air Museum, which dates back to 1909 and which can be explored before the celebrations kick off. Another favorite is the UNESCO World Heritage Site Suomenlinna Bastion Fortress, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Finland. The During our weekend trip to Helsinki, I will accompanied by the dog and my partner (who will only spend the evenings with us in the group and then make their own dog-friendly plans during the day time).

🏛️𝐎𝐂𝐂𝐔𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐘 We spend three nights in a fully equipped and comfortable studio apartment with two people sharing a twin bed room with own bathroom and kitchenette. My partner, dog and I will share one room and you and another tripmate will share one room. So you will have a lot more privacy and do not even need to meet the dog, if you do not like pets 🥰. A bonus is that the apartments are just under a km away from the main station of Helsinki and super central, which will make explorations and eating out easy for everyone. ✅𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩: 𝟑/𝟓 ✅𝐍𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬: 𝟐 - 𝟔 (𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝) ✅𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐬𝐦𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 Because spots are limited, it's quick and easy to reserve your spot: 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 🟩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐞! Helsinki

Day 1-2
𝘿𝙖𝙮 1: 𝘼𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙡 & 𝙈𝙚𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙥 Welcome to Helsinki! Finland`s capital and biggest city. Helsinki Airport (HEL) is conveniently located close to the city centre and has many great connections throughout the day. I will be happy to help you to find the right train for you :). If you arrive early, feel free to store your luggage for a small fee at the train station and explore the city on your own until our group meets. Check-in time is at 4 pm and contactless, so you can also come to the apartment on your own and check-in before we meet our fellow trip mates. Our official trip beginning and meet up with the group will be at 5 pm in front of the apartment and we come together in a rustic Finnish restaurant for a meal and get to know the other mates. 𝙄𝙉𝘾𝙇𝙐𝘿𝙀𝘿 ✅ 3 nights in a studio apartment in shared twin bed room with own kitchenette and bathroom per two trip mates (with contactless check-in code). See example photo of room. Day 2-4
𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝟐: 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗠𝗶𝗱-𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 After breakfast we embark on a guided city walk with a local, who will bring us closer to Helsinki`s vibrant culture and history and share some hidden stories. The walk will take us to the main sights of the capital city. After a relaxing lunch break we rent our bikes and explore the suburbs of the city, with stops at some golden sand beaches and time for a dip. A 20 minute ride will eventually take us to the islands of Seurasaari. This idyllic open-air museum on Seurasaari Island transforms into a vibrant celebration on Midsummer Festival. The festivities begin as the sun sets right below the horizon, casting golden hues over the serene coastal landscape. We can enjoy the Finnish heritage with folk music and dance performances scattered across the island. Admire the raising of the "juhannussalko" (Midsummer pole), adorned with wildflowers and birch leaves, a symbol of renewal and abundance. There’s also a delightful array of activities for young and old and everyone in between ;-): Puppet shows, horse-drawn carriage rides, flower crown workshops and storytelling and spellbinding the "magic path", where traditional Finnish rituals promise a glimpse into the future. As night falls, we listen to Finnish songs and join the procession of flags to witness the lighting of the main bonfire, called kokko, believed to ward off evil spirits. Please note that the programme for the midsummer festival has not been announced yet and planning might change slightly. 𝘿𝙖𝙮 3: 𝙎𝙪𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙖 𝙎𝙚𝙖 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨 After a sleep-in and late breakfast / brunch, we grab our rucksacks and head to the southern most point of Helsinki City towards the ferry jetty. From the ferry we get amazing views of Helsinki’s harbor and many small islands before we reach Suomenlinna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site steeped in history and charm alike. As we wander the cobbled paths, we’ll discover enchanting hobbit-like structures tucked into grassy hillsides, remnants of underground shelters from its military past. Built in 1748 by Sweden as a defense against Russia, this sprawling fortress was the biggest fortress in Europe at its time and spans several islands, blending rugged fortifications with serene parks and gardens. 𝙄𝙉𝘾𝙇𝙐𝘿𝙀𝘿 ✅ Guided Helsinki walking tour ✅ Bike rental to explore Seurasaari Island and the city outskirts ✅ Joining the locals to celebrate mid-summer festival on Seurasaari Island ✅ Boat transfer to & from UNESCO Site Suomenlinna (island) and museum entry fee ✅ Detailed day-to-day planning with times and places we visit will be share a month in advance 𝙊𝙋𝙏𝙄𝙊𝙉𝘼𝙇 / 𝙀𝙓𝘾𝙇𝙐𝘿𝙀𝘿 ❌Local bus and metro ❌Meals and personal expenses

𝘿𝙖𝙮 4: 𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 All good trips come to an end. In the early morning we can meet for a last cozy breakfast and then say good-bye to our newly found friends. My departure from Helsinki is around 7am, but if you have a later flight back home, feel free to explore more of Helsinki`s interesting sites and architecture or visit a museum. Official check-out from the apartment is at 11 am. I am sure the days will pass in no time! I really hope to meet you very soon on this Finnish mid-summer adventure 👋🙂! 𝙊𝙋𝙏𝙄𝙊𝙉𝘼𝙇 ❌Airport transfer
