Russia, from Moscow to Baikal

During the first 4 days we will see Moscow's sights. Wonderful parks, as well as theaters and museums with a great cultural offer. If possible we will explore the Russian capital with the world famous Moscow Metro.

From Moscow we will enjoy the beautiful Russian nature from the train window for 3,5 days and travel by Trans-Siberian Railway to Irkutsk.

The following 10 days we will spend in 3 other places. In Listvyanka (the most famous tourist zone), in a small fishing village and on Olkhon Island.

Olkhon is the largest island of Lake Baikal with a length of 72 km. Olkhon is considered to be a magical place. Every year at the end of July an international meeting of shamans takes place here. We will drive with a Russian "UAS" (no other car can get through here) all the way north and take a break in a former Gulag camp.

Before we fly back to Germany by plane, we spend 2 full days in Irkutsk. The vast expanses from the Urals across Siberia yield rich mineral resources. In the area around Lake Baikal there are large mica mines with interesting minerals such as zircon and scapolite, topaz, beryl and smoky quartz. Here we can get very cheap beautiful gifts for our loved ones!
