Have you ever thought about living on a tropical island for 2 weeks? If yes, let's do it !!! I'm looking for 2-3 TripMates to live with me on Phu Quy Island, a small paradise destination, 120 km from the mainland. Unlike Phu Quoc (larger, more developed, and more touristy), Phu Quy Island is a smaller and lesser-known island. It's a quieter and more peaceful place, with fewer tourist facilities and a more authentic Vietnamese feel. The island is home to a close-knit community of fishermen, and visitors can experience the local way of life and culture. It's a great place to relax, unplug, and soak up the natural beauty of Vietnam's coast. While there are still plenty of things to see and do, the pace of life is slower, making it an ideal destination for travelers seeking a laid-back and more local island experience. We'll be living among the locals and immersing ourselves in the island's rich culture while enjoying a range of activities, including swimming, diving, SUP, and more. And don't forget to indulge in the island's delicious seafood delicacies, caught fresh daily by local fishermen, they're very cheap (compared to seafood prices in Phu Quoc) After work, I would like to spend some time together on the beach, like go freediving or swimming, go out for dinner or cook together at home (I love cooking as well so all you need is to give me compliments and clean up 🫶) I'm also always up for a good conversation. Who's suitable for this trip? - You like to slowly immerse into where you're at 🍲 - You value sunsets and sunrises over bar crawls and hangovers 🌅 - You want to eat the most authentic local cuisine rather than at the most Instagramable restaurant 🍲 - You seek genuine and meaningful connections with other like-minded travelers rather than drunk surface-level interactions with strangers 🫶🏻 - Those who are bored with the hustle and bustle of the modern big city 😫 - You love swimming/ diving,... (and even if you don't know how to swim/dive, I'm sure we can find someone to teach you because most people living on the island are very friendly and good at swimming + diving.) 🥳 Bonus: If you get lucky, you can also participate in night fishing sessions with local people. This is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and create unforgettable memories.
About me! Hiiii I'm Thao from Vietnam 👋 I was in Phu Quy for 5 weeks in June - July 2023 and really love the vibes and connection here so I decided to go back to the island in 2024. The island is small tho but there are many hidden caves underwater I haven't explored yet. If you looking for a place to stay away from the city and immerse yourself in nature. You should join me!!!
Details about the accommodation: I'll rent the local house north of the island; we stay away from the busiest area because it's too touristy and pricey! It has full furniture, so you only need to bring your luggage and come to the island. The neighbors are friendly, and if you're a dog lover, I should warn you there are so many cute and smart dogs on the island. Try not to fall in love with them!!! If you're looking to relax after work, Phu Quy has it all in a tranquil island setting. Join me on this unforgettable adventure and experience the beauty of Vietnam's hidden gem. Do you have a question about the trip? You can let me know in the Q&A section!
