Details about the Accommodation: The first night, before we embark on the hike we will spend in B&B (shared rooms) Next 3 nights will be in mountain huts in shared dorm rooms. In the first two mountain huts, there is no hot shower, there is however an outdoor cold water stream. Last night there is a hot shower. In all mountains, huts are possible to get a proper dinner and breakfast. If you have a questions you can reach out to me in the Q&A section!

Ružomberok

Day 1-2

After we meet at Krakow Airport we make our way to Ružomberok town where we stay at B&B. We will go for a nice dinner together and get to know each other. We also use this time to do a briefing about the upcoming days and also to do some shopping to prepare for our journey.

Tourist shelter Limba

Day 2-3

We will start our hike in the UNESCO heritage village of Vlkolínec, known for its exceptionally well-preserved traditional wooden houses. From there, we will follow a forest trail that will lead us deeper into the Great Fatra National Park until we reach a place called Smrekovica. This will be a perfect spot to stop for lunch and take in the breathtaking scenery. After a few more kilometers, we will arrive at a mountain pass beneath Rakytov. We will climb to the top and be treated to a mesmerizing sunset. Just below the mountain, the delightful mountain hut Limba awaits us. Here, we can savor a delicious dinner and enjoy drinks by the bonfire while sharing stories of our past adventures with new friends.

Chata pod Borišovom

Day 3-4

Awake to the rising sun and the enticing aroma of coffee and scrambled eggs. Hike back up to the mountain ridge and trace it all the way to Ploská mountain for a well-deserved lunch break. Today, our trail will wind through enchanting forests and meadows, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely pace. Our hike will culminate at the Mountain Hut under Borišov peak, where we can relieve ourselves of our backpacks and grab a refreshing cold beer. Additionally, we'll have the opportunity to ascend the nearby peak of Borišov and revel in yet another captivating sunset.

Horsky Hotel Kralova studna

Day 4-5

Another day, another exhilarating hike awaits us. Today, we will traverse the ridge, passing through picturesque meadow-like hills. Take pleasure in the panorama of the Slovak mountains as we make our way towards the highest peak of the Great Fatra range, Ostredok. Along the way, we'll have the opportunity to indulge in the abundance of cranberries and blueberries that thrive in this area. Once we reach our destination for the day, the Mountain Hotel Kráľova Studňa, we will enjoy a delicious dinner. Following that, we will embark on an ascent above the hotel, where we can marvel at the celestial wonders in one of Slovakia's finest stargazing locations.

Staré Hory

Day 5

At last, the trail will gently guide us back to civilization, leading us to the charming village of Staré Hory. Before we venture into the lush forests once again, take a moment to enjoy the final views from the ridge. From Staré Hory, we will board a bus that will take us back to our starting point, and from there, we will drive back to Krakow. Of course, if your travels take you elsewhere, there are a couple of options to consider. You can easily reach the beautiful historic town of Banská Bystrica, where you can spend a day exploring its treasures, and then take a direct train to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Alternatively, from our starting point in Ružomberok, it is convenient to travel either to Bratislava or head west to explore another beautiful national park, the High Tatra mountains.
