Varkala
Day 1-5
After the flight you should first recover and acclimatize. I'll familiarize you with the place and we'll take our time on the beach. When we are fit again and feel like finally going out, we have a few activities to choose from: - an elephant farm: we buy a couple of kilos of bananas on the way there and are allowed to get very close to the pachyderms while feeding them. And if we're lucky, it's bath time in the elephant house. That is an experience in itself! - Golden Island: With a boat we go to the Anchuthengu Kayal. Here on the island in the middle of a lake is a Hindu temple.

Kanyakumari
Day 5-7
By train we go to the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu, town of Kanyakumari. Here you can experience the authentic India. While Kerala is a quite modern state, which is why it is super suitable for vacation, Tamil Nadu seems rather wild. There are only few tourists. The more exciting it is for us to go on a discovery tour here. Here I have seen the most incredible Hindu temples, which is why I am drawn here once again. In addition, we can experience the sunset here at the southernmost tip of India.

Varkala
Day 7-14
Back in Varkala we first give ourselves a rest and relax on the beach. In the coming days there is again a lot to choose from. - Black Beach and the Aquarium: an extraordinary feature is the beach with the black sand. Not far from it we can see the sea inhabitants of the Arabian Sea in an aquazoo. - Boat trip through the Jungle: we will take a small boat along small channels of the Paravur Lake, passing temples, mangroves, fishermen and the simple huts of the locals, whom we can watch in their everyday life. - Janardanaswamy Temple: this temple is 2000 years old and therefore one of the oldest in India. In the evening the Puja, a ritual to worship the gods, takes place here. We will of course participate and let the special atmosphere of sounds, scents and these ancient walls take effect on us. - Dolphins: early in the morning we will go out to sea and hopefully be greeted by dolphins. - Shopping: Kerala is the home of Ayurveda. If you are interested in this subject, you should leave a lot of space in your suitcase, because here you can find everything and of course very cheap. The beach promenade on the northern cliff of Varkala also offers many other shopping opportunities - clothes, bags, spices, delicacies, souvenirs and and. The selection is wide and the prices are pleasant.
