Details about this trip
TRIP OVERVIEW Every year, I try to make the absolute most of my annual leave, and this trip takes that philosophy to another level. Over nine packed days, we’ll travel through Delhi, Jaipur, Ranthambore, Bharatpur, Agra, Mathura, Vrindavan, and Deeg, combining some of northern India’s most iconic sights with wildlife, local culture, historic cities, and one very colorful Holi celebration. We’ll explore both Old and New Delhi, experience Holi in Jaipur, search for tigers on safari in Ranthambore, visit the extraordinary Chand Baori stepwell, go birdwatching in Keoladeo National Park, explore Fatehpur Sikri, see the Taj Mahal at sunrise, visit a Wildlife SOS conservation center, experience Mathura’s temples and evening atmosphere along the Yamuna, explore Vrindavan, and finish with Deeg before returning to Delhi. This is a fast-paced, experience-driven trip designed for travelers who are comfortable with early mornings, long days, road journeys, and frequent changes of location. Every stop and transfer has been carefully planned to maximize our time, allowing us to experience as much as possible without unnecessary downtime. Please note: Our trip begins early on March 19, so I recommend arriving in Delhi on March 18 to give yourself time to settle in and rest before we start.

ABOUT ME Hi! I'm Senica, the person behind Pathforward Travel. I've spent years traveling independently, living abroad, and planning trips for myself, friends, and family. Somewhere along the way, I realized I love building itineraries just as much as I love traveling. I enjoy finding that sweet spot between maximizing experiences and keeping trips practical, safe, and good value. Whether it's researching transportation, discovering lesser-known places, or optimizing routes, I genuinely enjoy the planning process. My travel style combines iconic highlights with authentic local experiences, great food, nature, and cultural immersion. I believe travel is about more than checking places off a list—it's about understanding a destination and making memories you'll still be talking about years later. If you enjoy curious conversations, spontaneous laughs, and making the absolute most of your annual leave, we'll probably travel well together.

ACCOMMODATION SETUP Accommodation throughout the trip will be a mix of comfortable budget hotels, guesthouses, and hostel-style accommodation, depending on the destination. Most stays will be based on twin sharing, with two TripMates sharing a room with separate beds. In Agra, although the property is hostel-style, we’ll be staying in private rooms reserved for our group rather than shared public dormitories. Room arrangements will be finalized once the group composition is confirmed. Some stays include breakfast or another meal, while at others meals can be purchased onsite or nearby. Please refer to the itinerary for the meals included on each day. The properties have been selected with cleanliness, good reviews, practical locations, and value in mind rather than luxury. Since this is a fast-paced trip with several early starts and changes of location, our accommodation will mainly serve as a comfortable base between full days of exploring. If you have any questions about the accommodation or room setup, feel free to reach out. Once participants are confirmed, we’ll also have a private group where we can coordinate rooming, arrivals, and other trip details.

Delhi

Day 1-2
Day 1: Delhi Our journey begins early with a packed full day exploring both New Delhi and Old Delhi. With a private guide and vehicle, we’ll visit some of the capital’s most recognizable landmarks, including Qutb Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, Lotus Temple, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, India Gate, Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk and Khari Baoli, along with several other historic and cultural stops. In Old Delhi, we’ll also take a rickshaw ride through the busy lanes of Chandni Chowk, while sights such as the Red Fort, Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhavan will be viewed from outside or as drive-by stops. The guide and planned transportation are included; monument entrance fees are separate. Day 2: Delhi to Jaipur (BL/D) We leave Delhi in the morning and begin our private overland journey to Jaipur, Rajasthan’s famous Pink City. After arriving and checking in, we’ll spend the afternoon exploring Jaipur at our own pace with a private vehicle and driver, making a few lighter sightseeing stops such as Gaitor Ki Chhatriyan, Nahargarh Fort and Birla Mandir before ending the day around one of the city’s markets for dinner. This afternoon is self-guided, with transportation between the planned stops included. Entrance fees are separate.

Day 2-4
Day 3: Jaipur (BL/D) Today is dedicated to a more extensive exploration of Jaipur. With a private guide and vehicle, we’ll spend the day visiting many of the city’s major highlights, including Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Panna Meena, along with several other historic and cultural sights. Some stops will be full guided visits, while others will be shorter exterior or photo stops, allowing us to cover a broad mix of Jaipur throughout the day. The guide and private transportation are included; monument entrance fees are separate. Day 4: Holi & Journey to Sawai Madhopur Today we experience one of India’s most colorful celebrations: Holi in Jaipur. We’ll spend the morning and early afternoon taking part in the festivities. Closer to the trip, we can decide together whether to attend an organized Holi event or experience the celebrations another way. Afterward, we’ll have time to clean up, eat and recover before our private transfer to Sawai Madhopur, our base for the following morning’s safari. Any ticketed Holi event is not currently included and will be decided closer to the trip.

Day 5: Ranthambore, Chand Baori & Bharatpur We start early with a safari through Ranthambore National Park, heading into the reserve in search of Bengal tigers and the many other animals that call the park home. The Ranthambore safari and its planned safari transport are included in the trip price. Afterward, we continue by private vehicle toward Bharatpur, stopping along the way at Chand Baori, the spectacular geometric stepwell in Abhaneri. Chand Baori will be explored independently rather than as a guided visit. Any separate monument entrance fee is not included.

Day 5-6
Day 6: Keoladeo, Fatehpur Sikri & Agra Another early morning takes us to Keoladeo National Park, one of India’s best-known birding destinations. We’ll explore the park by bicycle or rickshaw depending on what works best for the group. The park entrance, bicycle/rickshaw rental and any birding guide or naturalist are not included, so we can decide what we’d like to arrange once we’re there. After breakfast and check-out, our private vehicle will take us toward Agra with a stop at Fatehpur Sikri, where a local guide will join us to explore the former Mughal capital. After Fatehpur Sikri, we’ll continue toward Agra with time for lunch and check-in before heading to Mehtab Bagh for sunset views across the Yamuna toward the Taj Mahal. The Fatehpur Sikri guide and private transportation for the day are included; entrance fees are separate.

The private guide and vehicle for the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Baby Taj are included; monument entrance fees are separate. Day 8: Agra, Wildlife SOS & Mathura We’ll start the morning with a visit to Akbar’s Tomb, which we’ll explore independently before continuing toward the Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation and Care Centre.
