From Airlie Beach we will go to the Whitsunday Islands and then further north to the next stop Townsville. From there over to Magnetic Island and enjoy a bit of island life. Afterwards I'll pass Mission Beach and head up to Cairns. From there I want to go to Cape Tribulation and the Daintree Rainforest. Of course, snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef is not to be missed. Normally I stay in hostels, if the opportunity arises, I would also camp the one or other night. I would like to rent a car, because you are just more flexible and can stop relaxed at any time when you discover a beautiful place :)
