This road trip is all about freedom -> we will hike the dense beech forests of the Bükk National Park, explore the volcanic hills overlooking Lake Balaton, and discover hidden caves 🦇. With our own wheels and a budget for extra activities, we will join professional-led nature tours such as guided cave explorations near the capital or kayaking adventures on the lake 🛶. Expect a perfect mix of active days, scenic drives, and relaxed evenings discovering the vibrant craft beer scene and delicious vegetarian food 🍺🥗. We will return to Budapest for a final urban exploration before our Monday evening departure ✨.

I am an energetic and social traveler who believes the best trips happen when you share the road with great people 🤝. I am a big sports enthusiast and love staying active, whether it is a forest trek or a spontaneous hike up a volcanic hill 🥾🏃‍♂️. Budapest

Day 1-3

We kick off our road trip in the vibrant capital! After picking up our rental car, we will start with an active afternoon hiking the scenic Buda Hills for panoramic views over the city. The next day, we will dive into an underground adventure with a guided caving tour just outside the urban area. Our evenings are reserved for discovering the legendary ruin pubs -> the perfect spots for tasting amazing local craft beers and trying out incredible vegetarian street food in a great social atmosphere.

Bükki National Park

Day 3-5

Leaving the city behind, we drive northeast to the historic town of Eger, our gateway to the Bükk Mountains. We will spend these days deeply immersed in nature, trekking through dense beech forests and tracking down hidden waterfalls. We will join a professional-led nature walk to explore the most secret corners of the national park, rewarding ourselves later with a cold pint and some hearty plant-based local meals to refuel our energy.

Lake Balaton

Day 5-7

We hit the road towards the "Hungarian Sea", focusing strictly on the wild and volcanic northern shore around Badacsony and Tihany. We will hike up ancient, extinct volcanic hills to catch epic, sweeping views over the water. To make it even more special, we will rent kayaks for a sunset paddle on the lake. It is the absolute perfect blend of active outdoor sports and chilled-out lakeside vibes.

Budapest

Day 7-8

We drive back to the capital for our final night. After dropping off the car, we will celebrate the end of our road trip with a relaxed farewell dinner together. We can spend the last morning soaking in one of the famous historic thermal baths, soothing our hiking muscles and enjoying a final local beer before heading to the airport for our Monday evening flight home.We drive back to the capital for our final night.
