Iași
Day 1-2
We will be based in Iași in Romania for the hiking part of the trip. You can fly into Iași directly, or fly to a different airport and take a bus. On Day 1, everyone will be arriving at different times so there is no set plan. Iași is a small but beautiful city and there are lots of historical and aesthetic sites to see during our downtime. We can visit the iconic Palace of Culture before strolling down the Stefan Cel Mare Si Sfant Boulevard - something I have already done and enjoyed! We can also visit the pretty Capou district and botanical garden. There are several restaurants and bars to dine at in the evenings as we rest and recuperate between our hikes.

Hășmaș Mountains
Day 2-3
Day 2 (the first full day) will be the most challenging hike - better to get the hardest one out of the way first! And I reckon it will break us in very well. We will travel to the picturesque Hășmaș Mountains and spend the day hiking through gorges and across mountains with panoramic stellar views. We should also have time to visit the nearby Red Lake. This hike is a bit intense and might also involve a bit of rock-climbing (depending on the route). It's also recommended we go with a guide so I will be hiring one.

Bârnova
Day 3-4
On Day 3, we don't have to journey far out of Iași. This hike in the nearby woodland of Bârnova should take 4-5 hours (including stopping at photospots and resting for lunch). It might not be as grand as the Hășmaș Mountains, but we should have a nice and pleasant time if the weather is good.

Șorogari
Day 4
On the final day of the hiking part of this trip, we will make a short trip to Șorogari to walk a circular route around this cute, little village. If we're lucky, we might even see some animals on the trail! Later on in the day, we will cross the border into Moldova for the next part of our trip.

Chișinău
Day 4-6
We wil end our trip with a nice, unwinding stay in beautiful Chișinău which I believe is one of the most underrated cities in Europe... and the world! When I first went to Chișinău, I thought it would be a dreary, ex-Soviet humdrum. However, I was mistaken! It is lively and colourful and I wish I was able to spend more time there. When we are there, we can have a nice tour of the city and look at the cool architecture, before deciding as a group how to spend the rest of our time here. There is a beautiful lake to walk around and I recommend we visit the iconic Piana Vyshnia one evening and join the people dancing around in the Central Square. OPTIONAL - on one of the days here, those who would like to can join me on a trip to Tiraspol (in Transnistria - a country which technically doesn't exist) - although the costs for this are not included in the trip price.
