I'm excited to share with you a taste of Trás-os-Montes (a region in the north of Portugal) in 5 days. Yes! 5 days where we'll go back in time to the place of birth of Portugal, the historical city of Guimarães 🏰 and to the magical reign of Montalegre in the era ruled by the witches 🧙🏽♀️ experience cultural dishes 🥘, have a chance of tasting our Portuguese lovely wines 🍷, adventure on Peneda-Gerês National Park🌄, see its amazing untouched waterfalls and of course sleep on a cosy and relaxed house complex with stunning views to the only Portuguese national park. HIGHLIGHTS: 👹 Friday, 13th - The witches' night is an iconic event that only happens on the Fridays 13th at Montalegre near its castle. It is an event marked by cultural dishes, drinks, and big shows - shining a light on the witchcraft history of the region. 🏰 Historical city of Guimarães (the birth of Portugal) - We'll visit the castle and ducal palace. 🌄 Adventure at Peneda-Gerês National Park to hike, swim and see stunning landscapes and explore their famous untouched rivers and waterfalls on a canyoning experience. 🤝 The activities are a mix of cultural and natural experiences that stimulate the use of all your senses. I'll go into more detail about each one in the day's description. I do have some others under my sleeve, depending on the preferences of the TripMates I'll be sharing this trip with. 🫶 In case you have any suggestions you would like me to include, feel free to talk to me about it. 🫰 For expenses like groceries or other activities, we'll be using the app Sliptwise to help us sync with our responsibilities. 🥺 In the unfortunate case of not finding 8 TripMates, we'll have to make changes or share a higher price on accommodation and transportation. 🫶 Friends and couples are welcome! ❤️ Great memories are guaranteed!

Accommodation: Rural House in a private condominium (Villa) near 🌄 Peneda-Gerês Natural Park 🍃 House 🏡 Six rooms -> 1 room= king size bed | 1 room= queen size bed | 1 room= 1 single bed | 1 room= 2 single beds | 1 room= 1 queen bed + 1 single bed | 1 room= 2 single beds. For accommodation, we have 2 houses with all the necessary appliances: Kitchen, living room, bathroom, and leisure space. We'll have a patio/barbecue with marvellous views + pool. Day 1-2
Historical city day! ❗ IMPORTANT: WE'LL MEET IN PORTO ❗ Transfer from Porto - Guimarães: 🕐45 min drive by car (one trip) ✈️MEETING POINT: I'll catch you at OPO airport (Porto airport) The meeting will happen in the morning because we'll have a big day ahead! In Guimarães: 🍝 We can lunch in the city centre; 🛒 Buy groceries for the next few days, but there are other options closer to our accommodation if we don't. Activities: Visit Guimarães Castle 🏰 an emblematic medieval castle; Visit to Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, a medieval estate and former residence of the first Dukes of Braganza, located in the historical centre of Guimarães. Visit Alberto Sampaio Museum: Heritage of Humanity, in the building of the first monastery built in the city. Guimarães - Salamonde, Vieira do minho (house 🏘️): 🕐50 min drive by car We'll finally see our lovely home near Peneda-Gerês National Park, the place where we will sleep for the next 4 nights.

Day 2-3
THE WITCHES' NIGHT 👹 FRIDAY 13TH 👹! 🌄 In the morning /afternoon We'll have plenty of time to adjust to our new surroundings: - Explore our house complex and the National Park near our home ⛰️ Trip from House 🏘️ - Montalegre 🕐1h drive by car 🧹 The event opens at 13h13 🧙🏽♀️ We'll discuss when is the best time to go there since the peak moment happens at night (23h - Queimada preparation 🔥). My suggestion would be: - Lunch at home - we have a barbecue - Dine out in a traditional restaurant near Montalegre; - Dive into the realm of the witches 🦉 and try the infamous queimada - an alcoholic beverage with powers, typically prepared while reciting a spell 🪄. 🌃 The night will be full of surprises: phenomenal shows, 🎆 fireworks will light the night/castle 🎇, traditional beverages, foods, and music all around the place, and of course amazing decorations making you travel to the era of incantations ✨.

Day 3-4
Relax day! 🌄 Morning at home, enjoying the views and having a nice breakfast by the pool. 🍴 Lunch at home/ a local restaurant / take-way. Afternoon, we can relax from the past day and choose between: - staying at home 🏡 - stay in one of the famous National Park waterfalls - stay on a river beach nearby our home. In the night ✨ Dinner/ home/ leisure house/ stargazing or just relaxing.

Day 4-5
Active and nature day! In the morning 🌄 - Lovely breakfast at home For activities: We can hike through the village and National Park, see its amazing biodiversity and landscapes OR Visit São Bento da Porta aberta, a Catholic Sanctuary built in 1640 known as a shelter for travelers. 🍴 Lunch at home/ a local restaurant / takeaway. In the afternoon ☀️ 2. Go to LoboTours in Gerês and start our canyoning experience through Peneda-Gerês National Park cristal clear waters. Trip to LoboTours takes 🕐35 min drive by car. Canyoning: ⏱️ Duration: 4h 👟 Suggestion to bring: Swimsuit, towel, comfortable shoe wear, something to make photos and videos, be ready for a lot of stunning views! In the night ✨ We can choose depending on our wishes: Dinner out/ Home in the village/ home party/ stargazing or just relaxing.

Day 5
Final day 🛫 Our vacays are over, so it will be time to 1. Prepare for departure/ to leave our beloved home; 2. Depending on each one's responsibilities, we might have time to explore or stop in Braga; 3. Cry because it's the last day 😭; 4. Schedule comebacks 😂. Transfer from Home - Porto 🕐1h25 min drive by car (one trip) ✈️ In case you depart on this day, I can leave you at OPO airport. If you spend more time at 'Invicta' (The historic city of Porto) I can leave you in the city.
