Pack your backpack and let's discover the magic of the Thai islands together! 🎒🏝️ In 10 days, we will explore my absolute favorite islands in the Gulf of Thailand, dive/snorkel with turtles 🐢🤿, and party the night away on the hottest island. You also have the unique option ✳️ to extend the trip by 3 nights (1 night in Bangkok, 2 nights in Koh Lanta) individually! Our itinerary: Route: Bangkok 🛕 -> Koh Tao 🤿 -> Koh Phangan 🏝️ -> Krabi 🍜 -> (Koh Lanta 🌅 -> Krabi) ✈️ ⬇️⬇️⬇️ More information ⬇️⬇️⬇️ _____________________________________________ 🔢 TRAVEL GROUP: 1️⃣ Timo 🙋🏼♂️ 🇩🇪 - Trip leader 2️⃣ Katrin 🙋🏼♀️ 🇩🇪 - Trip mate 3️⃣ Anna 🙋♀️ 🇩🇪 - Tripmate 4️⃣ ??? ℹ️ OVERVIEW: Day 1: Arrival in Bangkok 🏙️ We will meet up in Bangkok during the day, get to know each other, and discuss the next few days. There will be plenty of time in the evening for some last-minute shopping or a short sightseeing tour of Bangkok. In the evening, we will take the night train south, where our adventure in southern Thailand will begin the next morning. ✳️ Upgrade 1: You have the option of arriving in Bangkok on March 7, staying an extra night in Bangkok, and exploring more of the city. Days 2-5: Koh Tao 🏝️🤿 The island of Koh Tao is much smaller than the other islands in the Gulf of Thailand and is perfect for a relaxed start to our island hopping. Koh Tao is best known for its underwater world. 🐠 Therefore, we will go on a full-day snorkeling trip to see as much of the underwater world as possible. If you really want to dive in, Koh Tao is also the perfect place to get your diving license! There is a wide range of diving schools, which means prices are low and the underwater world offers first-class conditions for your first diving experiences! (Cost: approx. $250-280, 3 days, 6 dives, ❌ not included). Days 5-8: Koh Phangan – Dream beaches & action 🏝️ After 3 nights on Koh Tao, we continue to the neighboring island of Koh Phangan. Many years ago, the island was an insider tip when backpackers and hippies from all over the world celebrated a big party on Haad Rin beach once a month. Nowadays, the Full Moon Party attracts thousands of visitors every month, who drink cocktails in colorful neon shirts from beach buckets and dance to electronic music on the sand. Unfortunately, we will miss the Full Moon Party, but the island has much more to offer than just this one party night. We will explore the island on our own with a rented scooter to relax on secluded beaches under coconut palms. 🌿 Days 8-10: Krabi, Ao Nang, and the surrounding area 🏝️ From Koh Phangan, we continue by ferry and bus to the provincial town of Krabi. In addition to great night markets, mangrove forests, and spiritual temples, the neighboring town of Ao Nang has shaped the image of Thailand like no other beach. On the second day, we will rent a scooter and take a closer look at the typical postcard-perfect karst rock and dream beach panorama. ✳️ Upgrade 2: Days 10-12: Koh Lanta 🌅 If you want to see more islands, there is the option to extend the trip by 2 nights on Koh Lanta (including transport + scooter). The island has a very relaxed vibe and offers views of Thailand's most beautiful sunsets from one of its numerous laid-back beach bars. Here, we can either plan relaxing days on the beach or take a day trip by scooter across the long island to visit old fishing villages, enjoy the view from great viewpoints, visit an elephant camp (❌ not included), or discover almost deserted beaches. 🏖️ Day 10/12: End of the trip ⛴️✈️ The next morning, this part of our trip together unfortunately comes to an end and I head back from Krabi to Bangkok ✈️. You are now spoiled for choice and can also fly back to Bangkok from Krabi (KBV) at a reasonable price (❌ not included) or add a few more beach days on Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi, or Phuket. There are also quite a few international connections from Phuket (HKT) to Europe and the UAE, so you wouldn't have to return to Bangkok for an open-jaw flight. 🛫 _____________________________________________ What can you expect on this trip? ➕ 100% backpacking feeling 🎒 ➕ Explore three of Thailand's most beautiful islands 🏖️ ➕ Get your diving license on the spur of the moment and dive with the turtles of Koh Tao 🐢🐟 ➕ Try your hand at kitesurfing on Koh Phangan! ➕ A cool international travel group that's up for islands, parties, and traveling 🤗 ➕ Enough time to explore the islands on your own or chill out in a hammock 🌿420🌿 ➕ Customize your trip: ✳️ Upgrade your trip to 13 days -> for more time in Bangkok (+€45) and Koh Lanta (+€90). It's still busy at this time of year, but we can avoid the really big crowds. The weather is perfect, maybe a little too warm at times, but there are only a few rainy days per month (and even then, it's just a shower). Daytime temperatures on the coast are around 30°C, cooling down to 23-26°C at night. _____________________________________________
🙋🏼♂️ ABOUT YOUR TRIPLEADER: I have been exploring the world for 10 years now and have lost my heart to Thai culture. In 2024, I moved to Bangkok with my girlfriend Hannah from Germany. From here, I regularly travel to new and old regions in Southeast Asia. Since Hannah can only travel with me during the holidays, I look forward to meeting cool trip mates from all over the world so that I don't have to discover the most amazing places in Asia alone. I know from my own experience how daunting it can be to set off alone to a foreign country. To make this step easier, I share my own backpacking and solo trips on JoinMyTrip. My goal is to inspire others to discover new countries and cultures, experience the joy of traveling, and overcome their fear of the unknown. _____________________________________________ ❓ HOW DO I TRAVEL? I am a frugalist and a fan of simple living with the greatest possible independence. I am also a vegetarian and prefer an affordable and sustainable backpacking travel style. That means: - (Carry-on) backpack 🎒 instead of suitcase 🧳🚫 - Rarely staying longer than 3 nights in one place - The journey is the destination! 📍📍📍 - Simple, clean rooms in local guesthouses 🏡 or friendly hostels 🏠 instead of international hotel chains. - Good and inexpensive local food on the street 🍲 - Beer 🍺 and cocktails 🍹 preferably during happy hour, instead of fancy drinks at the rooftop bar 🍸 - Travel like the locals, slower but 100% authentic 🚂 - Sightseeing on your own 🛵 instead of organized tourist groups with guides 🚐 _____________________________________________ MY EXPECTATIONS: By the end of our trip at the latest, my ideal trip mates will share some of my passion for simple and authentic backpacking in Southeast Asia. On our Thailand island trip, we will discover very different areas: from lively, sometimes very touristy places to idyllic, quiet little beaches where you would love to stay for weeks. ❗IMPORTANT❗We are going on a BACKPACKING trip. 😉 On this trip, we will be traveling with many different modes of transportation, and suitcases can sometimes be really impractical. I therefore prefer trip mates who will swap their suitcase for a backpack. 🧳🚫 _____________________________________________
ℹ️ ACCOMMODATION: During our trip, we will stay in simple but clean and well-maintained hostels 🏠 or family-run homestays and bungalow resorts 🏡. The accommodations are basic but in good locations, and some may even have a pool, but don't expect 4* all-inclusive hotel complexes. ;) As a rule, 2 people will always share a room (with separate beds, of course), usually with a private bathroom, but in some cases with a shared bathroom (depending on the size of the group). The accommodations in the cities (Bangkok, Krabi) will have air conditioning. Bungalows on the islands (mostly close to the beach) often only have a fan, as it cools down quickly at night. It is almost always possible to upgrade to a private room or a better room with air conditioning. The costs must then be paid on site (€15-30 extra per night, not included ❌). _____________________________________________ ℹ️ Traveling safely as a woman ♀ and LGBTQ 🏳️🌈: I know that it can be a big decision to embark on an adventure with unknown travel partners from different cultures. To ensure that you feel safe and respected from the start, I offer you the following options: 1) Separate rooms 🚪 If no other women are traveling with us, you can request a single room or a bed in a same-sex dormitory at no extra charge. This way, you always have a private retreat and a personal safe space. 2) Female contact person 🙋🏻♀️ On all trips starting in Bangkok, you can meet my partner Hannah at our first dinner together. If you prefer to talk to a woman while traveling, you can contact Hannah or my co-trip leader Lama (JoinMyTrip) for confidential conversations. 3) Freedom of choice – even after the trip has started ⛔ If you realize in the first few days that the chemistry is unexpectedly not right and the situation cannot be improved despite discussion, you can cancel the trip without any major financial risk. 💵 You will receive a full refund of the trip price in local currency, minus: ➖ costs already incurred (accommodation, activities, transportation) ➖ JoinMyTrip fee (15% – may be refunded by JMT) ➖ non-refundable bookings (e.g., flights, train/bus) This means you will usually get up to 70% of your trip price back. Your gut feeling always takes precedence – money should never be an obstacle if you feel uncomfortable. _____________________________________________ ❓ If you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas -> Save trip + ask question. I will then be happy to open a private chat and we can discuss all the details at your convenience. :)
