We will do a day trip from Rimini to San Marino, it's just an hour away! San Marino is a fully independent country, though it is completely surrounded by Italy. It uses the euro but is not part of the European Union, and it maintains its own postal system, military traditions, and foreign policy. San Marino has no border controls with Italy, but it issues its own passport, stamps, and has permanent seats in international organizations like the UN.
