Playa del Carmen

Day 1-8
We will spend most of our time in the colorful town of Playa del Carmen, a hot spot town where there is always something going on! When we are not out and about for a planned activity, you will have the choice to lounge by the beautiful condo pool or swim in the sparkling sea waters just a few blocks away. You can also explore popular 5ta Avenida (5th Avenue), the commercial shopping area with international brands of clothing, perfumery, makeup, and costume jewelry among other high-end products. With tons of restaurants, bars, boutiques, art galleries, and handmade craft kiosks, this is the place to grab souvenirs!

Tulum

Day 8
We will also journey south to Tulum to see the infamous Mayan ruins! Tulum was once a mighty walled city built by the Mayan people, the ruins of which are still standing today. The Tulum Ruins are some of the best-preserved Mayan ruins and provide a glimpse of how the Mayans lived and why they were a renowned civilization. Part of the archaeological site overlooks the sparkling Caribbean Sea, as well as Tulum Ruins Beach, one of the area’s best beaches. The site is also surrounded by palm trees, cactus flowers, and sunbathing iguanas.

Chichén-Itzá

Day 8
We will journey several hours west over to Yucatan to see Chichen Itza, one of the 7 manmade wonders of the world and the ONLY one in North America. This sacred site was one of the greatest Mayan centers of the Yucatán peninsula and is over 1,000 years old. The city of Chichen Itza (which is so much more than a pyramid) in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula was built somewhere between 400-600 AD and was one of the largest cities of the mighty Mayan civilization.

Valladolid

Day 8
Yucatan is also where many cenotes are situated, so we will get to explore some of those, as well! Cenotes are natural pits or sinkholes resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater. They were very sacred to ancient Maya civilizations and are beautiful to explore today. Cenotes were commonly used for water supplies and sometimes for sacrificial offerings by the ancient Maya. The term derives from a Yucatec Mayan word "tsʼonoʼot" or "well", referring to any location with accessible groundwater. The Yucatán Peninsula alone has an estimated 10,000 cenotes located across the Yucatán Peninsula.

Puerto Morelos

Day 8
For this special activity we'll head into the lush rainforest of Puerto Morelos to throw some axes and enjoy a delicious, authentic homecooked meal ! Our host, Ricardo (pictured above), is a friendly and down-to-Earth local that moved from northern Mexico to launch "Hacha Vikinga", a peaceful jungle sanctuary where he teaches fun, stress-relieving activities such as axe throwing, knife throwing, and archery. As an extra treat, he will prepare us authentic Mexican cuisine! (I can vouch for his cooking!)
