*EXCLUSIVE* JMT TRIP LEADERS ONLY trip!

★ THIS IS FOR JMT TRIP LEADERS ONLY ★ Meet and get to know other JMT trip leaders in the beautiful country of Türkiye from May 1-8, 2024! Please note that all activities are OPTIONAL and only accommodations for Istanbul (NOT Cappadocia) are included. In Istanbul, we'll explore the grandeur of the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, and cruise along the Bosphorus Strait. In Cappadocia, we'll marvel at the otherworldly landscape and take a hot air balloon ride over the fairy chimneys. You are welcome to join us and book your own accommodations, as well, but you must give us notice by April 17th, 2024 to prepare for any activities and meet ups.

A team of several trip leaders (2 from Türkiye!) came together over the summer to plan a one-of-a-kind trip to meet other trip leaders. All interested JMT trip leaders provided their country of origin and then voted on the month/year, choosing May 2024. Based on passport ranking, the team did a LOT of research to find the best, most affordable, safest, and most accessible (least amount of visas needed) places to visit specifically in May! We wanted as many people to be able to join as possible! We narrowed it down to 3 locations, and the group of interested JMT trip leaders ultimately chose the beautiful country of Türkiye. A special THANK YOU to the trip leaders that helped in planning: Ameer, Jai, Maria, Zehra, & Mengü!

ONLY accommodations for Istanbul are included. We will be staying in a quaint hotel (possible apartment/house based on interest) in Istanbul during the majority of the trip, with an optional last few days in Cappadocia. ★★★ Accommodations are still being secured & are subject to change based on amount of interest ★★★

Great trip, Allie has been wonderful, if you are looking for great photos she's your girl. Finally saw the Chichen Itza and that was the goal of my trip, so the goal was achieved! We got fortunate with the weather too.

İstanbul

Day 1-2

=> Everyone will have time on May 1st to arrive and unwind in our accommodations before meeting for dinner and get-to-know-you games! Please make sure to send your arrival time to the planning team a minimum of 2 weeks in advance to arrange our meal. Each person will be responsible for paying for their meals.

Old City

Day 2-3

=> On the second and third day we will spend time exploring the Old City of Istanbul, including visiting famous landmarks such as the Hagia Sophia, the Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, the Basilica Cistern, and the Suleymaniye Mosque. => We will wander through the old Ottoman inns and Grand Bazaar, as well as the Spice Bazaar, to pick up some souvenirs and spices to take home. => We will also munch on some local cuisine for meals, such as kebabs or meze.

New City İstanbul

Day 3-5

=> On the fourth and fifth day we will explore the New City of Istanbul, including the Galata Tower, Taksim Square area, the Istanbul Modern Art Museum, and the Pera Museum. => In the evening, we will take a walk along the Bosphorus Strait and watch the sunset. We can also take a night cruise! => You will then have the option of leaving on May 5 or 6, staying in Istanbul, or joining us in Cappadocia.

Cappadocia

Day 5-7

=> OPTIONAL AND NOT INCLUDED: we'll take a bus (possible flight) to Cappadocia from Istanbul. Upon arrival, we will check in to our hotel and get settled in. => Optional Activities: ✦ Hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia's stunning landscape of fairy chimneys and valleys ✦ Horseback riding or hiking through the valleys and mountains ✦ Visit the underground city of Derinkuyu & learn about the region's history ✦ Visit the Goreme Open Air Museum & see the rock-cut churches and monasteries. ✦ Visit the Selime Monastery and the Pigeon Valley. ✦ Visit a local winery & taste some of Cappadocia's famous wines.
