Would you like to travel and see the world? Would you like to escape the cold in Europe? Would you like to find out what it's like to live in the rainforest? Are you currently in a home office and have time to travel or can you work independently in a place? Well, then I might have the right trip for you. I am currently living at a tropical research station near the Piedras Blancas National Park in the small village of La Gamba in Costa Rica. Here I am doing a 10-month social service, which I am doing instead of community service back home in Austria. I have heard from many friends that they would like to come here and we have a lot of space that is not being used at the moment. Usually scientists and students from all over the world come to this station to do research on the rainforest, but right now the universities don't allow them to travel. So we have space for more than 30 people, but right now only me and my colleague live here. We are missing the people from other countries who bring life back to the station. That's the reason why I now offer two different versions of co-working here in Costa Rica. 1. you have a full time job that you can do from your computer or you have your own business on the internet? Why not swap your workplace? The tropical station in the rainforest is equipped with fast internet that you can easily use for business meetings. Besides, if you get too hot on a day or want some privacy, just use your private room, which is equipped with a desk, a fan and many other things. Or if you want to use the air conditioning in the lab while you're working, where there's always a space available, just do that. Or how does that sound if you don't have to cook your own food every day. Let's say you live in Germany or Austria and there is a lockdown in your country and all restaurants are closed and you are annoyed to cook every day and would rather use the time for other things. Just enjoy the freshly cooked meals 3 times a day and concentrate on your work or free time. You can of course work from a hammock all you want. Did I mention that you can walk around in t-shirt and shorts all day ;) And on your days off or after work, you can join us for a bike ride to the nearby sea or to the various waterfalls in the area. Or just get the mountain bike from us and explore the surroundings on your own. Or do you want to do a hike on one of the trails in the rainforest, then grab rubber boots and the cuff and off you go. We have different pricing models depending on the length of stay, but you can expect to pay around $60 or €50 per day. Please note that this price includes three freshly cooked meals per day and private accommodation. For the service that is included, I don't think it is really expensive and with the money you also support our local village staff or one of our reforestation projects. 2. have you ever thought about volunteering? You would like to see how reforestation works and how trees are planted? Maybe you would like to join us as a volunteer and work hand in hand with us on different projects? You will gain great experience and insight into a different culture and perspective. You will also enjoy the delicious Costa Rican food and get a freshly cooked meal 3 times a day. On our days off, you can join us for bike rides to the nearby ocean or to the various waterfalls in the area. Or you can just grab the mountain bike from us and experience the surroundings on your own. Or would you like to go for a hike on one of the trails in the rainforest? Don't forget your rubber boots and cuff and off you go. The normal price for volunteers including private room and three freshly cooked meals per day is only 40 USD or 33 € per day (normally the minimum stay is 1 month, but maybe less is possible). For the service that is included, I think it is not really expensive and with the money you also support our local village staff or one of our reforestation projects. The best part is that the flights from Europe are extremely cheap, e.g. from Vienna there are flights from 450 € there & back. Moreover, Costa Rica's borders are open to all countries in the world at the moment. You only need a few documents like filling out a questionnaire before entering the country, travel insurance which is included in Join-my-Trip if you live in Austria or Germany and a return ticket. You can stay as long or as short as you like and can start on any day. I live here until the beginning of October and we are completely flexible on time and duration. Earliest possible start date is 04.02.2021. So why not start in 2021 with a trip to a new country and maybe learn to surf in your free time or see a toucan or other wild animals in nature every day before breakfast. Life in the rainforest is special, I promise you. I've only been here a short time and it has already made a massive positive change in me. A little information on the side: normally we work a maximum of 34 hours per week and have two days off per week. However, we also have a few weeks of vacation in which we can possibly travel through Costa Rica together. I already did that for a month in November and I had one of the best times of my life! I would definitely recommend another two weeks or more to travel around and explore the nature, landscape and culture of other places and the Caribbean side. The price on Join-my-trip is a calculation for a typical 30-day stay including bus ticket and cab from the bus station to the tropical station and back. Please note that this price is subject to change. Please contact me so that I can send you an individual offer, which of course can vary greatly from the advertised price depending on the duration.
