Pack your backpack and let's discover some of the most spectacular places on the more than 7000 Philippine islands together! In 2 weeks we try to travel to the different regions and facets in such a way that there is plenty of action, but also enough chill time on the beach. We have therefore chosen an optimized itinerary to minimize the long transfer times between the islands. Itinerary: Manila 🏙️ -> Cagayan de Oro 🚣 -> Camiguin 🌋🏝️ -> Bohol 🐒 -> Panglao 🏖️ -> Siquijor 🏊 -> Apo Island 🤿 -> Dumaguete ✈️ ℹ️ TRAVEL GROUP: Timo 🙋🏼‍♂️ 🇩🇪 - Tripleader Hannah 🙋🏻‍♀️ 🇩🇪 Raphael 🙋🏼‍♂️ 🇨🇦 _____________________________________________ ℹ️ OVERVIEW: Day 1: Manila ✈️ Ideally we should meet directly at the airport in the evening to fly together to Mindanao (Cagayan de Oro) (08:25 pm). Manila is not necessarily worth a visit, but would be possible by arrangement. Alternatively, we could also take off from Bangkok. Day 2-4: Cagayan de Oro - The outdoor paradise 🏞️ Cagayan is a relaxed medium-sized student town and offers a relaxed start to our Philippines round trip. The highlight here will be a wild white water rafting and waterfall tour on the nearby Cagayan River (✅ included). Day 4-7: Camuigin - the adventure island 🌋🏝️ The small island of Camuigin is the perfect adventure playground for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors. Trekking tours to volcanic craters, waterfalls and viewpoints beckon here. Diving trips to sunken cemeteries, cliffs and turtles. Motorcycle trips along the coastal road or simply relaxing in a hammock on the beach. Day 7-9: Bohol - chocolate mountains and mini monkeys 🐒 We continue to Bohol. After a 4-hour ferry ride, we will arrive on the coast of Bohol. The beaches here are mediocre, but inland there are ziplines, waterfalls, natural wonders (Chocolate Hills) and cute Tasir monkeys waiting to be discovered (✅ entrance fees included). Day 9-10: Panglao - beaches & parties The island of Panglao, located below Bohol, is the most touristy spot on our Philippines backpacking trip. Alona Beach offers nice beaches, long beach parties and a few amenities of the modern world. Day 10-12 Siquijor - caves and waterfalls We reach Siquijor after a 2-hour boat ride from Panglao. On Siquijor, adventurers get their money's worth once again. There are secluded caves to discover, beautiful viewpoints and plenty of waterfalls with breathtaking swings (up to 10m high) into the turquoise-blue pools. Day 12-13 Apo Island Apo Island, one of the best diving and snorkeling spots in Southeast Asia, is just a stone's throw from Siquijor. The small island boasts a breathtaking underwater world and invites us to go diving and snorkeling (❌ not included). Day 13-14 Dumaguete Our last stop together is the pleasant, almost "beautiful" student town of Dumaguete on the Negros archipelago. We will explore the city here and enjoy a last taste of Filipino street food along the beautiful coastal promenade in the evening. From Dumaguete, you have connections to the international airports in Manila and Cebu the next day (❌ not included). _____________________________________________ What can you expect on this trip? ➕ 100% backpacking feeling 🎒 ➕ Discover a new (Filipino) facet of Southeast Asia 🇵🇭 ➕ Enjoy deserted and untouristy beaches 🏝️ ➕ A cool international travel group that's up for action, culture and travel 🌏🤗 ➕ Feel like a real adventurer and get off the beaten track 🤠 ➕ Enough time in between to explore the islands on your own or chill out in a hammock 🌿 What is included in the tour price? ✅ All transfers (bus, cab, speedboat, ferry, motorcycle, minivan) ✅ Flight Manila - Cagayan de Oro (incl. 7KG carry on luggage) ✅ Accommodations (in shared double rooms/bungalows) ✅ White water rafting halfday tour - Cagaya de Oro ✅ Vulcano trekking tour - Camuigin ✅ Entrance fees chocolate hills & tarsir sanctuary - Bohol ✅ Scooter rental at Camuigin, Bohol & Siquijor (shared scooter) ✅ Free Philippines eSIM Card (1GB Internet per day) ✅ 24/7 Customer Service and Support via JMT ✅ Complete travel planning, organization and advance travel tips What is not included in the tour price? ❌ (International) Flights to/from Manila/Dumaguete ❌ Daily Meals, Snacks & Drinks (approx. 10$-15$ per day) ❌ Scooter fuel & insurance (approx. 2$ per day) ❌ Optional: single room upgrade (approx. 10-25$ per day) ❌ Optional: scuba diving, kite surfing & zip line ❌ Optional: Check In luggage flight MNL-CGY ❌ Everything else which is marked with ❌ or not listed _____________________________________________ ℹ️ TRAVEL TIME: Best time to travel 🌞 We will be traveling at the end of the main season. At this time, the weather along our Philippines itinerary is perfect. Little rain is expected, the sea is relatively calm and the temperatures are around 25-32 degrees. The conditions for diving are also ideal. _____________________________________________

🙋🏼‍♂️ ABOUT YOUR TRIPLEADER: I've been exploring the world for 10 years now and have lost my heart to Thai culture. In 2024, I moved from Germany to Bangkok with my girlfriend Hannah. From here, I regularly travel to new and old regions in Southeast Asia. Since Hannah can only travel with me during school vacations, I look forward to meeting cool tripmates from all over the world so that I don't always have to discover the most amazing places in Southeast Asia alone. On my JoinMyTrip trips so far, I've seen time and again that many people would like to travel more often and explore the world, but can't find a suitable travel partner among their friends or family. I know from my own experience how big a hurdle it can be to set off alone to a foreign country. To make this step easier, I share my own backpacking and individual trips on JoinMyTrip. I want to inspire others to discover new countries and cultures, to feel the joy of traveling and to reduce the fear of the unknown. _____________________________________________ ❓HOW DO I TRAVEL? I am a frugalist and a fan of the simple life in complete independence. I live a vegetarian lifestyle and prefer a cheap and sustainable backpacking travel style. That means: - (hand luggage) backpack 🎒 instead of suitcase 🧳🚫 - Simple, clean rooms in local guesthouses 🏡 or sociable hostels 🏠 instead of international hotel chains. - Good and cheap local food on the roadside 🍲 - Beer 🍺 and cocktails 🍹 at happy hour instead of fancy drinks at the rooftop bar 🍸 - Travel like the locals, slower but 100% authentic 🚂 - Sightseeing on your own 🛵 instead of organized tourist groups with a guide 🚐 _____________________________________________ MY EXPECTATIONS: My ideal tripmates share a passion for simple and authentic backpacking. Ideally, you have been to (Southeast) Asia before and have realistic expectations of what to expect on our trip to the Philippines. It is important to me that you are open to the diversity that this Philippines trip offers. There is always the possibility to take yourself out of the group and have time for yourself. However, the trip is ambitious and we will be on the road a lot, so you should not expect a relaxing beach vacation, but an intensive trip. IMPORTANT❗We are going on a BACKPACKING trip 😉 On this trip, we will be traveling with MANY different means of transport and suitcases are sometimes really impractical (I will be able to show you enough examples on site). I therefore prefer tripmates who swap their suitcase for a rucksack. 🧳🚫

_____________________________________________ ℹ️ ACCOMODATION: On our Philippines backpacking trip we will stay in simple but clean hostels 🏠 or in family-run homestays and bungalow resorts 🏡. The whole thing is planned as a backpacking trip and, depending on the location, there is only local accommodation of an appropriate standard. The accommodation is therefore generally functional and does not meet the expectations of a 3-4* all-inclusive hotel complex. 🛏️ 🛏️ Two people always stay in a twin room (separate beds, of course), usually with their own bathroom, occasionally with a shared bathroom (depending on the size of the group and local availability). However, it is almost always possible to upgrade to a private room. The costs must then be paid on site (10-25$ extra per night, not included ❌). _____________________________________________ ℹ️ Travel safely as a woman ♀ and LGBTQ 🏳️‍🌈: I know that starting an adventure with unknown travel partners from different cultures can be a big decision. To help you feel safe and respected right from the start, I offer you these options: 1) Separate rooms 🚪 If no other woman is traveling with you, you can request a single room or a bed in a same-sex dormitory - at no extra charge. So you always have a private retreat and a personal safe space. 2) Female contact person 🙋🏻‍♀️ On all trips starting in Bangkok, you can meet my partner Hannah at the first dinner together. If you prefer to talk to a woman on the road, you can contact Hannah or my co-tripleader Lama (JoinMyTrip) for confidential discussions. 3) Freedom of choice - even after the trip has started ⛔ If you notice in the first few days that the chemistry is unexpectedly not right and the situation cannot be improved despite talking, you can cancel the trip without any major financial risk. 💵 You will be refunded the full travel price in local currency, minus any costs already incurred: ➖ Costs already incurred (accommodation, activities, transportation) ➖ JoinMyTrip fee (15% - can be refunded by JMT if necessary) bookings that can no longer be canceled (e.g. flights, train/bus, accommodation) You can usually get up to 70% of your travel price back. Your gut feeling always takes precedence - money should never be an obstacle if you feel unwell. _____________________________________________ 💬 If you have any questions, suggestions or ideas, please send me a message and let's chat in advance. If you save this trip in your profile, I also have the option to open a private chat and we can discuss all the details and questions in peace.

Timo is very interessted that everybody who joins the trip, can make the best out of it. When there was a problem (for example with an accomodation) Timo helped out the best he can to make the trip good again. I had always the option to have free time and do what ever I want. But it was also always possible to be with the group. Timo also involved the group concerning for example the time of transportation. As a woman I felt very save and welcomed. Timo even asked in the end what to improve or to think about for the next time, expecially as a woman.

Trip Itinerary
1

Ninoy Aquino International Airport

Day 1
Our Philippines backpacking trip starts at the country's largest airport in Manila. We will fly from Bangkok to Manila and take a late afternoon flight to Cagayan de Oro (✅ flight with hand luggage included). As we weren't really impressed by Manila on our last visit, we don't plan to visit the city. If you land in Manila earlier and would like to visit the city, I will be happy to provide you with helpful tips and recommendations. There is also the possibility that we fly directly from Bangkok to Manila together (❌ flight not included).
2

Cagayan De Oro City

Day 1-4
After the long journey, we have a free day to get to know the Philippines at our leisure and explore the student provincial town of Cagayan de Oro. The city is located on the island of Mindanao, but the area is safe and not affected by the travel warnings from southern Mindanao or Sulu Lake. An adventurous white water rafting tour and a visit to waterfalls are on the program for the next day (✅ included). The next day, we will then head to the volcanic island of Camiguin.
3

Camiguin Island

Day 4-7
We continue on to the volcanic island of Camiguin. The island is only about 50 km in circumference (perfect for a motorcycle tour around the island) and has more volcanic craters in this area than any other island in the world. The choice of activities is huge. We plan to climb one of the volcanic mountains to enjoy the view over the island and the sea (✅ included). A tour around the island on a scooter is also on the program, as well as discovering the underwater world (e.g. sunken cemetery) on 2-4 dives (❌ not included).
4

Bohol

Day 7-9
From the adventure island of Camiguin, our Philippines backpacking trip continues to the large neighboring island of Bohol. Bohol is much more touristy, but still offers a pleasant mix of a good selection of accommodation and hidden spots such as secluded waterfalls or viewpoints. On a day trip inland, we will visit the Chocolate Hills, waterfalls and a Tarsir Sanctuary (cobolmakis) (✅ entrance fees included).
5

Panglao

Day 9-10
Further south of Bohol is the smaller island of Panglao. We will only spend one night here, as this place is more for our transit to Siquijor. The most touristy place on this trip to the Philippines will be Alona Beach. There are all kinds of amenities here that you may have missed in the first week of your trip. In addition to beautiful beaches, beach parties and international restaurants, there are also shopping centers to stock up on everything you need. Panglao also has a well-connected airport. So if you can't take part in the entire Philippines trip due to time constraints or would prefer to spend some relaxing beach days on Boracay or Palawan, this is another option for you.
6

Siquijor

Day 10-12
From Panglao, we continue by speedboat to Siquijor. The island is no longer an insider tip, but the breathtaking waterfalls, adventurous caves and fantastic sunsets are simply too attractive.
7

Apo Island

Day 12-13
Apo Island is one of the dream spots for snorkelers and divers in Southeast Asia. If you are also interested in discovering the underwater world of the Philippines, this is the place for you! We will do at least 2 dives here and spend the night on the island. But there is also the possibility that you stay one night longer on Siquijor and we will meet in Dumaguete afterwards.
8

Dumaguete City

Day 13-14
Our last stop will be the relaxed student town of Dumaguete on the island of Negros. The city offers a beautiful coastal boulevard and also has a few spots to visit in the surrounding area. This will be our last place together in the Philippines. From Dumaguete, you now have the option of either reaching Cebu by sea and land (possibly with stopovers in Moalboal and Oslob) or by plane with direct flights to Manila or Cebu (❌ not included).
