Travel with us to one of the last insider tips in the Mediterranean. The Lipari Islands or the Aeolian Islands (derived from the Roman wind god Aiolos, Latin Aeolus) are true pearls in the north of Sicily and can only be reached by boat. This group of islands includes Lipari, Salina, Vulcano, Stromboli, Filicudi, Alicudi and Panarea. Geologically, historically, culinary and culturally, as well as for their breathtaking beauty, these islands are worth a visit. The island or better the active volcano Stromboli, as the only permanently active volcano in Europe, belongs to the absolute highlight of our trip. The trip will take place on board of a well maintained sailing yacht, which will be our means of transport and at the same time our accommodation for the next days. Whether in the safe harbor with subsequent shore leave or in a beautiful bay where you can greet the sunrise with a jump into the water, the freedom we can enjoy here is boundless. A trip for adventurous, cultural and culinary travelbuddies who want to create impressions far away from normal destinations.

5/5
Although I booked the sailing trip with Martin very spontaneously, everything worked out great. We had a short phone call beforehand to discuss the itinerary and clarify expectations. Martin answered all my questions and we were able to clarify organizational matters. On the boat, Martin was very patient in explaining everything and we were able to try out sailing according to our interests. Martin had planned a route

Trip Itinerary
1

Portorosa Marina Yachting

Day 1-2
Our home port is best reached from Catania airport after an already very scenic cab ride. From Catania, located directly at the foot of Etna, the road leads us north through a breathtaking landscape that was strongly influenced by Etna. At the northernmost point near Messina, Sicily and the Italian mainland are only a stone's throw away from each other. Arrived in the home port we start with a cozy get together, then move into the boat and provide enough provisions for the next days. Right next to the harbor is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Sicily (Spiaggia di Furnari) which is definitely worth a visit.
2

Vulcano

Day 2-3
Our first ettap destination is the island of Vulcano. The island is about 3 hours drive from our home port and our berth can be reached in a good 4 hours. There we will anchor, depending on the weather conditions in the west or east of the island near Porto di Ponente and spend a wonderful day and night at the foot of the eponymous volcano Vulcano. By the way, the name volcano was derived from names of this island and can be found phonetically in many languages.
3

Panarea

Day 3-4
Panarea is the smallest and most picturesque of the Aeolian Islands. It is also the most exclusive and many celebrities have created a haven here in recent years. Panarea is also about 4 hours drive from our anchorage in Vulcano.
4

Stromboli

Day 4-5
The Stromboli volcano with its impressive fireworks at night is just 3 hours away from Panarea. There we spend a leisurely afternoon until we leave strengthened in the evening in the direction of the fire spectacle of glowing and molten rock. Afterwards we set course for Salina already in the early night and will arrive there in the early morning.
5

Salina

Day 5
Salina is the second largest island of the Lipari Islands and is almost completely protected. Here we can spend a relaxing morning in Pollara Bay in the west of the island or a whole day in Proto Turistico in the east of the island. (Depending on your mood) In the evening we will go to the name-giving island - Lipari.
6

Lipari

Day 5-6
The largest of the Lipari Islands - Lipari, is a stone's throw from Salina. Our destination is the largest port in the archipelago directly north of the town of Lipari. After about 2 hours driving time we reach this and that is also good. Lipari invites to a leisurely stroll through town and the island itself to various hikes.
7

Portorosa Marina Yachting

Day 6-7
On the last day of our cruise, we set off leisurely to our home port in Portorosa. We review the eventful time with a last cool beer or wine in the harbor and chat one last time with other charter crews in the harbor.
