This trip gives you the opportunity to experience a pleasant mix of relaxation, adventure and sport during a one-week sailing trip through the "Dodecanese", eastern Greece, south of Kos. Ideally, we should arrive by flight so that we meet at midday on Saturday. We buy food and drinks together at the local supermarket and stow them away at around 15:00 when we are handed over the boat by the charter company. This is followed by a safety briefing. Depending on the group's energy and wishes, we either set sail that evening to spend the night in a quiet bay nearby or have a leisurely meal in a harbor restaurant before setting off the next morning. Our route will include around 3-5 hours of sailing each day, depending on the weather and wind conditions. Stopovers to explore small bays or places are possible and depend on the preferences of the group. You should definitely be seaworthy, but do not need any sailing experience. We can steer and operate the boat on our own, but support under supervision makes it easier and more relaxed.
This private, non-commercial trip is organized and guided by my wife Corinna and myself Marc. We are both 36 years old and are generally active, fun-loving and courageous people. My wife has an SKS sailing license, but we both have several years of comparable sailing experience. We are both non-smokers and strictly only take non-smokers with us. We don't drink alcohol, but we tolerate it if our fellow sailors want to drink it in moderation.
We spend the night on the sailing yacht during the week. Each of the three cabins offers space for two people in a double bed. There is a shared bathroom on the yacht and we sometimes cook on the boat and sometimes go out to eat in restaurants. We prefer a balanced mix of overnight stays in harbors as well as in bays. You have to be aware that you can have a certain exclusive solitude in bays, which is also associated with the fact that the electricity on board is limited and there is no shore shower/toilet. The sanitary facilities and general comfort on board are comparable to those of an upmarket motorhome. When we moor in harbors for the night, we also sleep on the boat, but there are restaurants for eating out and sanitary facilities available.
