Expedition travel buddy
Expeditions are something more unique than regular travel, as you are fully immersed in unfamiliar terrain, surrounding and culture. It requires teamwork, self-awareness and to be more self-sufficient. Depending on where you go, it demands high physical and mental challenges, which will test your abilities. As intense as it sounds, expeditions live on well after you’ve returned home, and you won’t regret any of it.
Before you and your trip mate set off on your new journey, here are some expeditions we wanted to share with you.
1. Nenet Tribe Expedition
Living on the edge of the world, in the Siberian wilderness, the Nenet Tribe of Russia lead a rustic existence far from modern life. You’ll have the opportunity to rub shoulders with local Nenet people and cuddle the indigenous reindeer who are treated as pets, and nothing less. In the tent, there is no electricity, running water, or a toilet. This is an expedition, after all. Not a weekend at the Fairmont.
2. India’s Edge Expedition
If you think about India, you probably imagine brightly colored chaos. A beautiful mess, with sights and sounds overwhelming all your senses. However, few people visit the outer reaches of India’s wetlands and mountains. We have good reason why you should - a steam-powered train will weave you through the Himalayas, stopping to point out rhinos along the way through Kaziranga National Park. You’ll get to meet warrior tribes, Tibetan Buddhist and witness stunning cliff-side villages.
3. Patagonia Expedition
Get off the beaten track and explore the immensely beautiful landscapes of Patagonia. This one is for the travelmates who are up for a good leg day and challenge. Witness raw Patagonian wilderness while trekking through some of the world’s most renowned destinations. Experience lush valleys, rainforest, rivers and jaw-dropping mountainscapes.
4. North Pole Expedition
Just imagine, standing at the top of the Earth and knowing everything else is south. This is the feeling you could live in real life on such an expedition. Some of your travelmates include walruses, seals, whales, and polar bears. The only one will want to eat you, so no worries. You’ll witness vast, ice-covered landscapes, icebergs, and connect with nature in its purest form. Your journey will start in Helsinki, Finland and from there you will trek to the North Pole by day 7.
5. Costa Rica Conservation Hike Expedition
Designed for those travel buddies who want to experience a little bit of everything. Hike from the Caribbean to the Pacific Coast while immersing yourself in the local culture. You will be staying with host families along the way so you will have the perfect opportunity to absorb the language and people. This expedition will challenge you physically, but at the end of it, you will have learned so much about your own sense of ability and strength.
