Trip Itinerary

Helsinki
Day 1-2
1st day: Arrive in Helsinki and meet up in the accommodation, get to know each other and in the evening go out together to explore the city, have dinner, and do some short sightseeing in the central. Back to the hotel, relax, and maybe also use the sauna facility.

Kemi
Day 2-4
2nd day: we can still explore Helsinki and visit some places before we take a train to Kemi city. We will stay 2 nights in Kemi and during our stay, we will walk and visit the famous Snow Castle, an enormous ice fortress. The walls and furniture surfaces of the unique rooms are decorated with ice art and illuminated artwork. The 3-4th day will be also in Kemi, while the rest will be spent in Rovaniemi before returning back to Helsinki.

Icebreaker Sampo check-in
Day 4
Once in a lifetime experience, icebreaker cruise! Feel the arctic freedom on the deck or relax sipping hot beverages in the Icebreaker Bar comfortably indoors. Before returning to the port, the ship will make a one-hour stop to enable each visitor to participate in the ice-floating event, you can enjoy swimming in the icy waters on a floating suit made of a light waterproof material that will keep you warm and safe. You can also walk on ice. 🛑This activity is optional and not included in the price, The price is €365/person + transport to the cruise. If you wish to join this activity you need to book it in advance because the spots are limited. I am planning to join this activity, so if you skip you can also do other activities in Kemi.

Rovaniemi
Day 4-7
We will stay 3 nights in Rovaniemi and During our stay we will try to discover the city as much as we can and hopefully we will see the northern light during our stay! 🤞 Rovaniemi is situated in the auroral zone, making it an ideal place to witness the mesmerizing Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). We will need luck but no worries winter nights here are long, providing ample opportunities for us to do aurora hunting. If there are at least 4 tripmates, we will do dog sledding too.

Santa Claus Village
Day 7
A visit to Santa Claus Village, take a picture with Santa and see Santa's office. Rovaniemi is often referred to as the "Official Hometown of Santa Claus." You can visit Santa Claus Village, meet the man in red himself, and send a postcard with the Arctic Circle postmark from the Santa Claus Main Post Office. We will also do a Reindeer Ride Experience in Santa Claus Village!

Helsinki
Day 7-8
Last day we will have breakfast together, check out from the accommodation, and in the afternoon we will catch our overnight train back to Helsinki. We will arrive in Helsinki the next morning, say good, and board to flight/train to go home.
