Northern Lights and Nature in Iceland! :)

Guided trip
Hey you travel enthusiasts, my name is Yara, I am 24 years old and from Germany. For 6 years I've been traveling around the world and after a year of sun and beach I'm longing for crisp cold and adventure! Dreaming about seing the Northern Lights. Sounds convincing to you too? Therefore, I plan to make a round trip through Iceland for a week. This week will be filled up with a lot of nature and activity. From breathtaking waterfalls, hot lagoons, national parks and ice caves, I'll show you all the highlights Icelands and the Northern Lights will follow us on our whole route! Together we will start exploring with a 4x4 wheel drive rental car in Reykjavik and travel across the island for a week. I don't care about your age, nationality or gender! Be open, adventurous and fun! You might have to share a room with someone else during the trip, so you should be open for that :) In total I'm looking for 3-4 other people to join, so we're a fun and mixed group! The cost includes all the accommodations which most likely will be private houses or apartements, the rental car and a small fee for organizing trip, because it's a lot of work and helpful to have a puffer for emergencies. Costs like food and gas will be put in Splitwise and shared and the only excluded and optional activities are the blue lagoon (ca. 50€, if we decide to do it) and the jeep and hike tour to the ice caves (ca.150€). Pssst.. and don't forget hiking shoes and warm clothes, it's going to be an adventure! I am very stoked about this trip and I think it is a once in a lifetime experience! Let's explore the highlights of Iceland together! Curious now? Then check out the detailed program below and don't hestitate to ask further questions! I am looking forward to travel with you! :)

Reykjavík

Day 1-2
Our adventure starts in Reykjavic, from here we drive our car towards Grindavik. We will check the webcams of the Fagradalsfjall volcano on the way and see if they are suitable for climbing the summit. The 3 hour hike across lava fields to the (hopefully) active volcano is a spectacular experience. However, if conditions are not ideal, we will head to the Blue Lagoons for a relaxing afternoon in the hot springs. The entrance fee is not yet included and is about 50-60€, depending on when you book. After splashing out we will continue east and move into our quarters for the night. P.S: Look up, the Nothern Lights will follow our route!

Grindavik

Day 2-3
We leave and make our way to Vik. On the way we stop at the spectacular Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls and make friends and family jealous with our cool photos! Afterwards we will go shopping together and get everything we need for a nice evening!

Vik

Day 3-4
What is better than a lot of fresh air. We spend the day leisurely, sleep in and take a relaxing trip to the nearby Black Sand Beach, where we can take a walk to the Solheimasander airplane wreck and then drive to the Dyrholaey cliffs. Afterwards, we'll curl up on the sofa in front of the fireplace with tea and mulled wine and play games.

Day 4-5
The following day we will visit Katla Ice Cave. We will be picked up by a jeep in the morning and taken to the glacier, from where we will do a short hike into the black and white Katla Cave. A unique and fascinating experience. Don't forget your camera, sturdy shoes and good mood!
5

Thingvellir National Park

Day 5-6
Back on the road. Today we head towards Thingvellir National Park with stops at Bruanfoss Waterfall and the world famous Gullfoss Waterfall. But as if that wasn't enough, we also stop by Strokken Geyser before arriving in Thingvellir in the evening.

Thingvellir National Park

Day 6-7
From our cabin we will go exploring through the national park and can marvel at gorges, unique rock formations and endless nature. This day is kind of flexible and everyone can decide, if they want to be active or enjoy the day in the cozy cabin! And where would be a better place than in nature to experience the northern lights at night?

Reykjavík

Day 7-8
And back to the beginning! We spend the morning relaxing in the national park before heading back to Reykjavic, where we spend one last evening together, exploring the city and getting ready to head home! What an adventure!
