Get ready for the ultimate Southern African and Mozambican wildlife and diving experience — a journey that blends the raw beauty of the bush with the magic of the Indian Ocean. This two-part adventure begins in South Africa’s Marloth Park, right on the edge of the legendary Kruger National Park, and ends on the pristine shores of Mozambique, where humpback whales, whale sharks, and manta rays await. Our journey starts with a taste of the wild: a night walk among the sounds of the African bush, a full-day game drive in Kruger, and time to simply soak in nature. Then, we trade savannah for the sea — flying to Mozambique to dive into one of the world’s best marine megafauna hotspots. With up to 12 dives, daily ocean safaris of up to 7 hours, and a high chance of encounters with humpback whales, whale sharks, reef sharks, mantas, and more, this is a rare chance to witness Africa’s wild heart — both above and below the surface. Humpback whales migrate along this coast from July to October — and late July means peak season. It’s almost guaranteed to see them breaching offshore, and we’ll be right in the water with them, snorkeling and diving in small groups to ensure intimate and respectful encounters. Whether you're a seasoned diver or chasing your first whale dreams, this trip is designed to inspire awe, forge new friendships, and fuel your love for the ocean. Prerequisites concerning diving: OWD + Deep (you can join us as OWD and finish your deep course with us!)

Hi, I'm Robert — passionate diver, adventure-lover, and your host for this unforgettable trip. I’ve designed this expedition for people like you and me: those who feel most alive in nature, love diving with purpose, and enjoy meaningful conversations over a shared breakfast or a cold drink after a full day at sea. We're a young, easygoing, international group — fluent in both English and German — and always excited to welcome new faces. This is not a party trip; it’s about wild moments, deep dives (in every sense), and creating space to dream, connect, and explore together. What do we expect? Respect for nature, curiosity, a spirit of adventure, and a willingness to dive into both water and conversation. If that sounds like you, come join us. The whales are waiting!

Throughout the trip, you’ll stay in comfortable double rooms that offer a cozy retreat after days filled with adventure. In Marloth Park, our lodge features double rooms with en suite bathrooms and daily breakfast included — perfect for winding down to the sounds of the African bush. In Mozambique, we’ll stay in welcoming beachfront lodges designed in a relaxed, social style. Each guest will have a double room, and while some rooms include private bathrooms, others may share facilities, similar to a boutique-style hostel — casual, clean, and community-oriented. If you're traveling solo, no worries — we’ve got you covered! We offer one shared room for men and one shared room for women, so you can still join even if you’re not booking as a pair. Single rooms are available for an additional fee, but we recommend bringing a travel buddy to make the most of the shared experience. Any questions about the trip? You can let me know in the Q&A section!

Flughafen O. R. Tambo

Day 1
Group Arrival & Transfer to Marloth Park: Your adventure officially begins in Johannesburg. With numerous flights arriving from around the world, it’s the perfect meeting point for our group to come together before heading into the wild. Our official group transfer departs at 11:00 AM, so please ensure you’ve arrived at O.R. Tambo International Airport well in advance. From the moment we set off together, the trip truly begins. Our private vehicle will take us on a scenic drive of about 5–6 hours toward Marloth Park, located near the southern border of Kruger National Park. Along the way, we’ll have time to get to know each other, share stories and travel dreams. We’ll also make a few short photo stops to stretch our legs! :)

Marloth Park

Day 1-4
Arrival & Night Walk Once we arrive at our comfortable lodge in Marloth Park, you’ll settle into your room and enjoy the peaceful bush atmosphere. In the evening, we’ll head out on an exciting guided night walk, where we may spot some wildlife and experience the African bush in a completely different light. After a restful night in the bush, we start our first full day with a full-day safari in the world-famous Kruger National Park. This iconic reserve is one of Africa’s largest and most diverse wildlife areas, home to the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino – as well as hundreds of other species including giraffes, zebras, hyenas, birds, and more. We’ll depart early in the morning in open safari vehicles with a local professional guide, who will help us spot and understand the animals, their tracks, and behaviors. Whether it’s a lion lounging in the shade or a herd of elephants crossing the road, every sighting is unique and unforgettable. Throughout the day, we’ll explore the park together, stopping at rest camps for lunch and bathroom breaks. The pace is relaxed but focused – it’s all about observation, patience, and immersion. Expect breathtaking landscapes, incredible photo opportunities, and plenty of time to connect with nature and each other. By the time we return to Marloth Park in the late afternoon, you’ll feel the full magic of the African wilderness setting in. After two packed days, day 3 is up to you! Marloth Park offers the perfect base for both relaxation and adventure. If you're an early riser, you might join an optional guided bush walk at sunrise, where local guides help us track animals on foot and discover the small, often-overlooked wonders of the bush. If you're looking for more action, there are optional full-day game drives, sunset safaris, or even excursions to Swaziland.

Day 4
After breakfast, we say goodbye to Marloth Park and begin our journey to Mozambique. Our group transfer will take us back to Johannesburg Airport, where you'll catch your flight to Vilanculos (note: the flight is not included in the package). We’ll help coordinate flight times so everyone travels smoothly. Once in Vilanculos, the vibe instantly shifts – palm trees, ocean air, and the laid-back rhythm of coastal life greet us. After clearing immigration, we’ll meet our local team and continue the adventure with a scenic road transfer to Morrungulo. The drive takes around 2.5–3.5 hours, passing through Mozambican villages, colorful markets, and lush landscapes that hint at what’s to come. Upon arrival at our beachfront lodge, you’ll check into your room and settle into your new home by the sea. The ocean is right at your doorstep, and the quiet surroundings are ideal for relaxing after a travel day. Enjoy a chilled drink, breathe in the salty air, and get excited — tomorrow, we dive into the blue and begin our humpback whale adventure.

Morrungulo

Day 4-9
Over the next four days, we fully immerse ourselves in the remote, pristine waters of Morrungulo, one of Mozambique’s best-kept secrets for marine encounters. This stretch of coastline is known for its crystal-clear waters, untouched reefs, and—most importantly—its abundance of humpback whales during the winter migration season. Each day, we head out early for extended ocean safaris and dive sessions, spending up to 7 hours at sea with experienced local guides and skippers. We’ll dive on vibrant reefs teeming with life and keep our eyes (and ears) open for humpback whale activity. These majestic giants are often seen breaching, tail-slapping, and even interacting near the boat or underwater. Whale sightings are highly likely—and unforgettable! Beyond the water, you’ll enjoy a 30-minute massage to unwind, and one evening we’ll host a marine science talk focused on humpback whale behavior, migration, and conservation efforts in the region. Expect to leave inspired and informed. The pace is adventurous yet relaxed. Evenings are spent by the beach, sharing stories, watching the stars, and recharging for the next day’s magic. This is barefoot diving at its best—raw, real, and deeply rewarding.
5

Tofo

Day 9-14
After our unforgettable days on the water in Morrungulo, it’s time to head further down the coast to the beach town of Tofo – Mozambique’s unofficial capital of ocean adventures. After breakfast, we say farewell to our lodge and begin the scenic drive south, which takes around 4 to 5 hours, depending on road conditions and stops along the way. The journey offers a unique view of Mozambican life, passing through small villages, coconut groves, and roadside markets full of fresh fruit, cashew nuts, and local crafts. It’s a great day to relax, watch the landscape roll by, and recharge your energy for the final stretch of the trip. Upon arrival in Tofo, we’ll check into our accommodation just a short walk from the beach. You’ll have time to settle in, take a sunset stroll along the coast, or grab a fresh seafood dinner in one of the many cozy restaurants or beach bars. Tofo has a lively yet laid-back vibe, with a strong dive culture and a welcoming local community. Over the next days, we explore one of the most legendary dive destinations in the Indian Ocean. Famous for its year-round population of manta rays, seasonal gatherings of humpback whales, and the chance to encounter whale sharks, Tofo offers truly world-class diving. Your trip includes 12 dives, guided by local experts who know exactly where to go. From deep, current-swept cleaning stations to gentle drift dives over coral gardens, every site promises something new. Between dives, we head out on ocean safaris, snorkeling with whatever crosses our path—be it dolphins, turtles, or the shadowy silhouette of a whale shark just beneath the surface.
6

Vilanculos

Day 14
All great adventures must come to an end—but not without one last scenic drive along Mozambique’s stunning coastline. After breakfast, we check out of our lodge in Tofo and begin our group transfer back to Vilanculos Airport, a journey of approximately 5 to 6 hours depending on stops and road conditions. Our transfer includes rest stops and time to grab a snack or take those final beachside photos. Once at the airport, we’ll say our goodbyes and part ways—hopefully just for now. Flights should be planned for late afternoon or evening departures from Vilanculos to ensure a smooth journey home. If you’re continuing to travel, we’re happy to help with local advice and onward tips.
