Details about this trip
Trip summary ✨ Three days of sunshine, sea, history and delicious Greek food—without breaking the bank! Join me for a relaxed budget weekend in Kalamata, a beautiful coastal city in the Peloponnese known for its famous olives, welcoming atmosphere, long seafront and charming historic centre. We’ll explore the colourful streets of the Old Town, visit Kalamata Castle, discover local products at the market, relax by the sea and enjoy traditional Greek food together. Kalamata combines beaches, history, cafés and nightlife in a compact city that is easy to explore over a weekend. This trip is designed for travellers who want a fun and social Greek getaway at an affordable price. We’ll keep the itinerary flexible, use public transport or walk whenever possible, choose reasonably priced local tavernas and leave enough free time to enjoy the beach. Whether you’re travelling solo, joining your first group trip or simply looking for a sunny weekend away, you’re very welcome!

I'm Marie 33 years old from Venezuela, half Colombian, currently living in Vienna, Austria. I'm a social and easy going person who enjoys traveling the world and meeting new people. I already organized group trips, and it was always a lot of fun! You can find all my trips when you click on my profile.

About the accommodation We’ll stay in a centrally located budget apartment or guesthouse, within convenient walking distance or a short bus ride from the Old Town and seafront. Rooms will be shared between two travellers, with separate beds whenever available. The accommodation will include Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and access to a shared bathroom or private bathroom, depending on the final booking. The exact accommodation will be confirmed once the group is complete. My priority is to find somewhere clean, comfortable, well-reviewed and affordable.

Day 2-3
Day 2 — Local market, beach and sunset evening We’ll begin the morning with coffee and a simple Greek breakfast before visiting the Central Municipal Market. This is a great place to experience everyday local life and discover regional products such as Kalamata olives, olive oil, herbs, fruit, cheese and traditional sweets. The market is especially active on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so a Saturday visit is ideal for a weekend trip. Afterward, we’ll walk through the city and stop at the Municipal Railway Park, an outdoor railway museum and recreational green space close to the centre. The afternoon is all about relaxing. We’ll head to Kalamata’s urban beach, where everyone can swim, sunbathe, walk along the promenade or enjoy an affordable lunch overlooking the sea. Kalamata is known for its extensive seafront and easily accessible city beaches. In the evening, we’ll meet again for sunset, dinner and optional drinks along the waterfront.
