We can also take a walk in the famous Balos Lagoon and swim in the turquoise blue waters, relax on the pink sandy beach or admire the natural beauty, the rocks and shadows that rise above the lagoon during our rest on the beach before sunset.

Elafonissi Beach

Located on the southwest coast of Crete, Greece, is one of the islandโs most famous and stunning beaches. Itโs known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, soft white sand, and patches of pink sand created by crushed seashells and coral. The beach is part of a protected nature reserve and is separated from a small islet by a shallow lagoon that you can usually wade through.

The beach is located in the Rethymnon region, on the southern coast, facing the Libyan Sea. Preveli is a palm forested river, one of the most famous beaches in Crete, isolated, beautiful and romantic.

Heraklion

We can go to Heraklion for a wonderful day trip to the mythological Cretan places. We can explore the ancient site of Knossos Palace, discover the Keras Monastery and enter the great Cave of Zeus on the Lasithi Plateau region.

Lasithi Plateau
Day 10
We can see most of the Lasithi plateau and visit the Panagia Kera Monastery, a monastery of nuns dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Also, we can explore the Dikteon Cave, named Zeus Cave surrounded by stalactites and massive stalagmites. After all, we can stop at a traditional lunch tavern and choose from a variety of local dishes made from local products in the Lasithi region, homemade wine and products from the surrounding mountains.
