Hi! My name is Aljaz. I grew up in Slovenia and have a great passion for travel. Over the years, I’ve done practically everything around it— from backpacking and living abroad to taking on various summer jobs, being a camp counselor and volluntering in various countries. Whenever it comes to organizing trips, I’m always the one who ends up planning, and I genuinely enjoy it. I’m also very active, so my adventures usually include a lot of hiking, swimming, and cycling.

We will be staying in Midgard Base Camp in a private or shared doorm (bed in a mixed dorm for up to 6 persons). Please mesage me if you want a private room for an additional cost. Located in Hvolsvöllur and with Seljalandsfoss reachable within 13 miles, Midgard Base Camp provides concierge services, non-smoking rooms, a restaurant, free WiF ithroughout the property and a garden. 31 miles from Skogafoss Waterfall, the hostel has a terrace and a bar. Day 1
We will begin our at the Airport or in the city where I will pick up the car and other members of the trip. We can pick you up also from Reykyavik from where we will drive to Hvolsvöllur where we will spend the next 6 nights.

Day 1-7
Upon our arrival in Hvolsvöllur, we will check in at our accommodation, Midgard Base Camp. This location serves as an ideal base for exploring the southern region of Iceland and all the activities we have planned. The main activities on our itinerary are detailed below. I have allowed extra time to ensure our trip is not rushed, accommodating unpredictable weather and allowing for spontaneous stops and trips along the way. This approach ensures we can fully experience all the listed activities while also enjoying additional discoveries along our journey.

Thingvellir National Park

Day 7
Start your day early with breakfast at your accommodation before embarking on the Golden Circle tour. Begin at Þingvellir National Park, where you can walk between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates and explore the historic Alþingi site. Next, head to the Geysir geothermal area to witness Strokkur erupting hot water high into the air. Afterward, visit the majestic Gullfoss waterfall, where you can marvel at the powerful cascade and walk along the viewing platforms for spectacular views.

Day 7
After breakfast we will visit Seljafalansfoss, you'll have time to take in the stunning views and photograph the iconic waterfall. Next, you'll walk behind the falls for a unique perspective, so be sure to wear waterproof clothing. Afterward, a short walk north will lead you to Gljúfrabúi, a hidden waterfall worth exploring. For lunch, enjoy a picnic near the falls or visit a nearby café. In the afternoon, hike along the nearby trails to discover additional smaller waterfalls.

Day 7
We will drive to Skógafoss, about 30 minutes away, to marvel at another of Iceland's magnificent waterfalls and hike up the stairs for panoramic views. On the way back to your accommodation, take a scenic coastal route, stopping by a local farm or village for a coffee break and a taste of Icelandic rural life. Return to your accommodation for dinner and relaxation, capping off a day of waterfall adventures and natural beauty.

Day 7
After a hearty breakfast, depart for Vik, arriving mid-morning to start your adventure. Begin with a visit to the stunning Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, where you can marvel at the basalt sea stacks of Reynisdrangar and the striking basalt columns. Next, head to Dyrhólaey, a promontory offering panoramic views of the coastline and a chance to see puffins during the summer months. Enjoy a picnic lunch or dine at a local café in Vik. Continue your exploration with a trip to the nearby Solheimajokull Glacier, where you can take a short hike to get up close to the glacier's edge. On your return to Vik, stop by a local shop to browse Icelandic wool products and souvenirs. End the day with a relaxing dinner in, reflecting on the day's adventures and scenic wonders before heading back to your accommodation for the night.

Day 7
After a breakfast, set off for Jökulsárlón, arriving mid-morning to begin your exploration of this stunning glacial lagoon. We will take a leisurely walk along the shore, marveling at the blue icebergs and the serene beauty of the lagoon. The boat ride at an additional cost is possible here. For lunch, enjoy a picnic with views of the lagoon or visit the nearby café for a meal. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Diamond Beach, where icebergs that have drifted out to sea wash up on the black sand, creating a striking contrast that's perfect for photography. Afterward, explore the nearby Fjallsárlón glacier lagoon for another perspective of Iceland's glacial landscapes. If time permits, take a short drive to the nearby Skaftafell National Park, where you can enjoy a hike to the Svartifoss waterfall, known for its unique basalt column backdrop.
