Details about this trip
It’ll be an unforgettable adventure and your own discovery of the Sahara World Heritage Site of Tassili N’Ajjer and the Tadrart Desert. Seven days in the desert with Tuareg people, deep-diving into the unspoiled beauty of their homeland. You’ll be cut off from civilisation, travelling with experienced drivers in unfriendly, demanding interior. You will be dirty, smelly, stuffed with sand with no access to bathroom, Internet, comfy beds... but also you will travel through time and space discovering your own scale in this vast landscape. Under a sky filled with stars, you’ll realise that some of them no longer exist — yet you can still see their light. Maybe you’ll become infected by desert fever. And the good news is: there is no cure. This desert could be the love of your life. A special part of the journey is the opportunity to spend time with Tuareg people and experience their hospitality, music and traditions. In the evenings, we’ll gather around the campfire, enjoy local music and share stories beneath a spectacular star-filled sky. We’ll also explore ancient rock art and engravings that offer a glimpse into the people who lived in this region thousands of years ago.

Hi, I'm Magdalena, I travel to this place because I am infected... It is like an addiction. I want to experience the enormous space, ancient engravings, black sky full of stars, Tuareg people hospitality, music and silence in the middle of beautiful nowhere - Tassili N’Ajjer and Tadrart desert in Algeria.

During the expedition, we’ll camp in the desert in individual tents equipped with mattresses and basic camping equipment. Facilities are intentionally very simple, with no conventional bathrooms or showers while we are in the desert, so you should be prepared for a genuine wilderness camping experience. Drinking water is provided throughout the desert journey. Before, after and during the transition between the two desert areas, we’ll stay in tourist hotels in shared double rooms. These hotel nights provide a chance to rest and refresh between the more remote sections of the expedition. Hotel accommodation and three dinners are not included in the trip price. This expedition is best suited to travellers who enjoy remote destinations, simple camping, long 4x4 journeys and authentic cultural experiences. Come prepared for sand, heat, basic facilities and an adventure that will take you far away from everyday life. 🏜️ If you have any questions about the itinerary, accommodation, transportation, desert conditions or what to expect during the expedition, feel free to get in touch — I’ll be happy to help!

Day 1
international flight from your country of origin to Algier and domestic flight from Algier to D’Janet. We will meet at the international airport in Algier and go through the Visa upon Arrival procedure. It can be time consuming process with some paper work and undefined waiting time. Once all visas received we will move to domestic airport in Algier to go through check-in flight to D’Janet. And again we should prepare ourselves to all the beauty of airport bureaucracy: forms to fill, queues, check points and possible flight delays. Day 1 will be long and exhausting, but once we will take our sits in the airplain it should be a final relief. On arrival we will be picked up by our Touareg team and transfer to the hotel.
