11 days of the BEST of the best in Ecuador's Mainland 🇪🇨 summarizing all the important places and essential attractions in one trip + an optional extended trip to the Galapagos Islands (check my profile to view/book the Galapagos Islands trip) Standing in the middle of the world we will start at its 2nd highest capital of 2,850m. We will be on the road down to the coast finishing in Guayaquil as we visit volcano craters, hot springs, beautiful waterfalls, colonial cities and ancient history. We will also immerse ourselves in rich culture, learn traditions, and swing at the edge of the world! THIS IS A FULL ON COMPACT TRIP - you do not have to worry about any extra costs except on free days/time and some meals - PLEASE read all the details for the full picture

Hey, if you still haven't read my profile, I am Bader a global travel who have recently finished visiting every country in the world and always will come back to Latin America every year! I traveled solo and in groups, budget and luxury, adventure based and slow based - all while meeting other travelers during events and at hostels and other group tours. While I am new here, I appreciate your support with my JoinMyTrip itinerary. We will have fun and leave with memories to share back home!

All the accommodations included in this package are 3 star hotels/boutique stays based on SINGLE room options. If you are two wanting to share a room contact me for a reduced price. There is also available options to downgrade to shared hostel rooms, boutique b&bs, or upgrade to a 4 star or 5 star hotels (based on best available in town/village). I have made account to customize this trip for all budgets and tastes just let me know upon booking or prior for any questions and requests. I highly recommend and prefer if the accommodations are managed and done by me as to make sure we all stay in the same area and can easily do the daily pick ups / drop offs as well as optional meet ups during free time/days.

Quito

Day 1-3
Day 1: Welcome to Ecuador! Upon arrival at Quito International Airport, your private driver will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. Quito sits at 2,850 meters (9,350 ft), so this first day is intentionally relaxed to allow comfortable acclimatization. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a light walk nearby or simply rest and prepare for your Andean adventure. Welcome Dinner at night! Day 2: Explore Quito’s beautifully preserved historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through Plaza Grande, admire the gold-leaf interior of La Compañía Church, and visit San Francisco Convent. Later, stand on the Equator Line at the Intiñan Museum. End the day with panoramic views from El Panecillo Hill overlooking the Andean valley and surrounding volcanoes.

Otavalo

Day 3-4
Day 3: Travel north through dramatic mountain scenery to Otavalo, home to one of South America’s most famous indigenous markets. Browse colorful textiles, handcrafted jewelry, and traditional artwork. Continue to Cuicocha Crater Lake for spectacular views of its volcanic islands. Along the way, visit traditional villages and learn about authentic Andean craftsmanship and local traditions. Return to Quito for overnight.

Parque Nacional Cotopaxi

Day 4-5
Day 4: Drive along the Avenue of the Volcanoes to Cotopaxi National Park. Visit Limpiopungo Lagoon, often surrounded by wild horses and Andean birds. Enjoy scenic walks across the high-altitude páramo ecosystem. On clear days, admire the impressive snow-capped Cotopaxi Volcano rising above the vast Andean plains.

Quilotoa Lake

Day 5-6
Day 5: Visit the stunning Quilotoa Lagoon, famous for its emerald-turquoise waters inside a massive volcanic crater. Walk along the rim for breathtaking panoramic views or descend partway for closer perspectives. Enjoy kayaking and horse riding activities for remarkable memories. Continue through scenic Andean villages before arriving in Baños, a charming town surrounded by waterfalls and lush cloud forest. Overnight in Baños.

Puyo

Day 6-7
Day 6: Descend from the Andes into the Amazon basin, where the landscape transforms into tropical rainforest. Enjoy a canoe ride along a peaceful river and a guided jungle walk to discover medicinal plants, colorful birds, and possibly monkeys. Visit a local community to learn about Amazonian traditions. Return to Baños in the evening.

Banos

Day 7-8
Day 7: Explore the scenic Route of the Waterfalls, including the powerful Pailón del Diablo cascade. Visit forest viewpoints and optional cable cars crossing river canyons. Enjoy time for photos and light adventure activities and the famous Swing on the Edge of the World. Activities included can be a choice of zip lining, horseback riding, rafting or canyoning Then continue toward Riobamba through beautiful Andean landscapes. Overnight in Riobamba.

Riobamba

Day 8-9
Day 8: Travel south through dramatic Andean landscapes to the Devil’s Nose viewpoint, famous for its railway engineering (train operates Thu–Sun). Continue to Ingapirca, Ecuador’s most important Inca archaeological site. Explore ancient temples and ceremonial areas while learning about the Cañari and Inca civilizations. Overnight in Cuenca.

Cuenca

Day 9-10
Day 9: Discover Cuenca’s colonial charm during a guided walking tour. Visit the impressive New Cathedral, explore cobblestone streets, and visit a traditional Panama hat workshop. In the afternoon, explore Cajas National Park, known for its glacial lakes and high-altitude scenery. Enjoy light scenic walks surrounded by dramatic Andean landscapes.

Guayaquil

Day 10-11
Day 10: Travel to Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city. Take a city tour to visit Malecón 2000, explore the colorful Las Peñas district, and climb Santa Ana Hill for panoramic river views. Farewell Dinner at night. Early airport transfer departures Day 11: Airport transfer departures.
