TripMates and TripLeaders now have insurance included in their booking!

As we all very well know, traveling never goes as planned... which is why it's always better to be safe than sorry! Since November 19th, every TripMate and TripLeader that has booked a trip with us will be insured by Allianz Travel.
What is our insurance?
Our travel insurance will automatically cover every eligible TripMate and TripLeader on every stop included in their trip itinerary, and is provided by Allianz Travel. We have chosen Allianz Travel since we only want the best for our community so every traveler can have the safest possible trip, especially during these unprecedented times. And the best part of it all is that it is completely free!
Our insurance is powered by Allianz Travel;
a world leader when it comes to travel insurance with a reputable name. They have gained the trust of more than 35 million travelers and have successfully protected them while they were abroad by finding solutions to any travel-related problem they may encounter.
What does the insurance cover?
Travel interruption insurance
Insurance cover in case you have to either; Extend your trip due to an epidemic or pandemic-prone disease, extend your trip due to personal quarantine or end your trip unexpectedly.
Travel assistance
For security, mobility, money and authorities, home and family. The insurance will assist in organising your return journey for you incase of any unexpected serious illness, serious accidental injury or death.
Travel health insurance
The costs of any necessary medical treatment abroad, including treatment due to an epidemic or pandemic-prone disease. This also includes any injuries or illnesses during the return transportation.
How do I make a claim?
You can easily report your case online at Allianz Travel.

If you have an issue while travelling, minimize the damage and have suitable proof of the occurrence of the damage such as, damage confirmation or certificate. Make sure to also include the extent of the damage such as invoices and receipts.
Who is eligible?
At the moment the insurance is only available to German and Austrian residents. We hope that in the near future we can make it available for everyone (more countries coming soon).

Eligible TripLeaders are insured if they have received a confirmed booking through JoinMyTrip after November 19th.

Which trips are insured?
Every trip that is booked on the JoinMyTrip platform is automatically insured and covers every destination or stop that is included in your trip itinerary. Currently only Austrian or German residents are eligible to be insured.
When does the insurance begin and when does it end?
The insurance begins when the trip journey officially starts and ends on the date and time that has been agreed on between the TripMate and the TripLeader.
When is my trip not insured?
You are not insured if you:
  • Travel to areas for which a travel warning of the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany exists at the time of your entry.
  • You intentionally cause damage
  • You go on expeditions that are not insured by a third party.
  • Strike, nuclear energy or refusal of entry by state authorities.
  • War, civil war or war-like events
  • ABC weapons or ABC materials
What if there is a travel warning?
You are only covered as long as there is no official travel warning for the destination country on the first day of the trip.

Should a travel warning be imposed on the destination country during the trip, you are obligated to return home as fast as possible (max. 14 days after the travel warning is imposed).

If you have an accident or fall ill in the period between the announcement of a travel warning and the first possible trip home, the costs for medical services will be covered by the travel health insurance, if it can be proven that efforts were made for a quick return journey.

Travel interruptions due to the notification of a travel warning for your holiday country / region are not covered by the insurance.
Will JMT support me if something goes wrong
We are here for you! But, keep in mind that If something goes wrong Allianz Travel is the insurer that will be handling all claims and we have no direct influence in that matter.

We will however try to help and support you as much as we can. Let us know by dropping us an email at support@joinmytrip.de and we will do our best to help you out. Our community is big & growing. Members support each other in difficult times, as we all know; when travelling, we can sometimes be faced with unexpected situations.
How do I get the insurance?
TripMates - If you select your country of residence as Germany or Austria upon booking, you will automatically see a confirmation of your insurance, and be asked to confirm your billing address. Once your payment is complete, you will receive your booking confirmation via email, and here you will find a confirmation of your travel insurance is also included.

TripLeaders - if your country of residence is registered in Germany and Austria, as soon as you have received a confirmed booking on your trip after November 19th, you will receive an email confirming that your trip is now insured.
What countries are covered?
Our insurance offers both "Top Europe" and "Top World" cover from Allianz Travel. The insurance depends on the destinations you are traveling to, but both however offer the same coverage. Any stops from the trip that is not in the "Top Europe" list of countries is automatically classified as "Top World"
