This was my first trip outside of Europe and Timo made this a wonderful experience. Everything was well organized, but with enough free time and flexibility to choose the activities I wanted. Overall, I forgot that I ever was nervous about this on the first day, so I can definitely recommend going on a trip with Timo if you're a solo traveler who doesn't quite feel up to going fully solo yet :)

So first of all, thank you, Timo, for this trip. It was my first experience with JoinMyTrip, and he truly made it an amazing one! Timo is well organized, transparent, and always attentive. He knows how to adapt to different situations to make sure you have the best possible experience, always putting the group first. Even though it was his second time in China, several parts of the itinerary were new to him, and he still managed to make us get the most out of them. Overall, you can book a trip with your eyes closed, without a doubt! I'll definitely travel with him again 😌

I look back on the trip with Timo as the group leader (along with Katrin and Sara) with such a wonderful feeling; it was something very special to me, and I would do it all over again exactly the same way in a heartbeat. Since it was my first trip to Southeast Asia and I was traveling alone as an 18-year-old, feeling safe was extremely important to me—and that’s exactly how I felt from the very beginning. Even before the trip, Timo was always available, incredibly helpful, took the time to answer my questions in detail, and gave me so many tips and pieces of information that I felt perfectly prepared. Throughout the entire trip, I never once felt unsafe or worried. I was able to just completely unwind because Timo organized everything—from transfers and activities to the restaurants. And he even thought of so many little details that I would never have thought of on my own. We could just go with the flow and enjoy the moment without having to constantly plan—that was really wonderful. At the same time, though, we always felt like we had a say in what we did. What makes Timo special to me is his calm, attentive, and at the same time totally laid-back manner. He really looked out for everyone, was responsive to everyone’s needs, and had a solution for everything. He was never “the tour guide,” but more like a friend you’re traveling with who just takes care of all the organizing :). That’s exactly what made the whole trip so pleasant and relaxed. You can really tell how much experience and passion he puts into it. He introduced us to the culture in a totally authentic way—whether through the food, little local spots, a few Thai words, or the many little fun facts he shared along the way. Even after the trip, he helped me plan the rest of my itinerary, which really isn’t something you can take for granted and meant so much to me. And the group dynamic was just amazing—it didn’t feel at all like I was traveling with strangers, but more like I was with friends I’ve known forever. I’m just incredibly grateful for this experience and would really recommend it to everyone. Thanks to you (and Katrin and Anna—we were a great little travel group!) my first experience in Southeast Asia and my first trip of this kind turned out to be a wonderful experience. I’m so glad I went on this very spontaneous trip (booked just 3 days before departure;) and Timo was incredibly helpful and eager to answer my last-minute questions, assist with my decision, and help plan my trip there. At first, I was skeptical about whether this format would be right for me, since I also really enjoy traveling alone and tend to prefer slow travel. But I kept an open mind and was pleasantly surprised—the itinerary was superbly planned, and the two weeks simply felt timelessly beautiful, with just the right pace and group dynamic. My intuition that Timo is a great person and tour guide—and that this format is truly worthwhile—was confirmed. It’s amazing how quickly strangers become friends when traveling! And I actually really enjoyed not having to plan or organize anything, but simply being able to have a say in decisions. That allowed me to immerse myself even more fully in the moment and put my smartphone aside. Timo, you didn’t come across as some sort of “local” tour guide, but rather, thanks to your relaxed, empathetic, and enthusiastic nature, like a friend—which I really appreciated. You took so much more into account than I could have ever imagined, and for that, you were simply impossible not to love as a travel leader. Our trip with Timo was truly extraordinary—honestly, the best trip I’ve ever taken 🥥. Timo is an incredibly empathetic and attentive tour guide ☺️. Communication was consistently clear, reliable, and thorough, both before and during the trip. He always took the time to explain everything calmly and was available to answer any question, which made us feel very secure right from the start 👌🏼. I was particularly impressed by how much he catered to the individual needs of each group member. He always thought things through, tried to make our wishes come true, and never lost sight of the big picture. Even when the weather wasn’t on our side, we always found a solution. His calm, pleasant demeanor made the whole trip very relaxing. He places great importance on introducing the country’s culture in a respectful way. You can tell that this is truly important to him 🇹🇭. We also got to learn a few words of Thai from him. We got to try authentic food 🥬🍍🍉🍠🍜, and he made sure there were always suitable vegetarian options, which I really appreciated 😉. Another thing I really liked: He truly takes the time for everyone. If someone has never ridden a scooter before, he calmly explains everything, demonstrates the basics, and lets you practice in a safe place until you feel comfortable 🛵💨. In general, you can just tell how knowledgeable he is. Even after the trip, he continued to be helpful and, for example, helped me find a hotel in Bangkok—that’s definitely not something you can take for granted. Especially as a woman, you can travel with him without any reservations and really don’t have to worry about a thing. I felt safe the entire time 🤝🏽. I highly recommend traveling with Timo to everyone 🧳.

Highly recommended! Tino was super nice and open-minded toward me from start to finish. He answered all my questions and did a great job preparing me for my first trip to another continent. We were also a really laid-back group of four people; I was the youngest, but I didn’t feel like that was a problem at all. We even celebrated my birthday together on Koh Tau, and it didn’t feel like I’d only known them for 3–4 days, haha. Timo knows great restaurants, bars, and scenic spots that are just so beautiful. Exchanging money with him is also super easy—he gives you the current exchange rates, so you don’t have to worry about scams or anything like that.We went kitesurfing (my first time) and it was a blast. I’ve already planned my next trip and will probably travel with him again this year. The trip was definitely a 10/10!

Timo is very interessted that everybody who joins the trip, can make the best out of it. When there was a problem (for example with an accomodation) Timo helped out the best he can to make the trip good again. I had always the option to have free time and do what ever I want. But it was also always possible to be with the group. Timo also involved the group concerning for example the time of transportation. As a woman I felt very save and welcomed. Timo even asked in the end what to improve or to think about for the next time, expecially as a woman.

Timo is a friendly, chilled and open minded Trip Leader. Everything went easy and it was a lot of fun 🙂

This was my first time traveling solo and also my first time joining a group trip like this, and honestly I couldn’t have felt more comfortable. From the very beginning, I felt safe and well taken care of. As a woman traveling alone, I can truly say you can join this trip with complete peace of mind. Safety was never an issue, and I always felt that the organizer and the group were looking out for each other. I also really appreciated that, if there was no other woman to share with, you could have your own room, which made the experience even more comfortable. The group I was lucky to be part of was amazing — everyone was very friendly, open-minded, and we all got along really well. It made the whole journey even more special and fun, and we shared some great moments together. One thing I really liked about this trip is the freedom it offers. There are no strict schedules, and you’re free to decide how much you want to do with the group or on your own. You can explore independently, rest, or do different activities, and then meet up again later with the group. If you are looking for a trip with fixed daily schedules and mandatory activities, this might not be the right fit — but if you enjoy flexibility and independence, it’s perfect. The itinerary itself was beautiful, and one of my absolute highlights was swimming with sea turtles — an unforgettable experience that I’ll remember forever. Overall, it was a great experience, especially for a first solo group trip. I felt comfortable, safe, free, and surrounded by great people. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a flexible, social, and relaxed way of traveling.

I highly recommend this (even for women!) I went on a 3-week trip to Thailand with Timo and some tripmates through JoinMyTrip—a mix of city breaks, island hopping, and a wonderful finale in northern Thailand—and it was truly amazing! It was my first backpacking trip and my first trip through JoinMyTrip, so I was a little hesitant at first. Especially since I was going to be the only woman in the group for the second half of the trip. But that turned out to be completely unfounded: The group was super friendly, fun, and laid-back, and I felt totally at ease right from the start. Timo is an incredibly likable and empathetic organizer. Even before the trip, he provided us with all the important information, a packing list, and lots of tips on entry requirements, vaccinations, money, etc., which made the preparation much easier. During the trip, everything was perfectly organized—accommodations, transportation, activities—and at the same time, there was always enough flexibility for spontaneous outings. I was particularly touched that Timo, without hesitation, booked a single room for me for the last part of the trip, where I was the only woman. So to all the women who might still be on the fence: Go for it! I felt safe the whole time, made many unforgettable memories, and formed new friendships. It was my first backpacking trip in Asia and first trip ever on JoinMyTrip and little did I know, that I'm gonna have amaying 3 weeks in Thailand. Perfect mixture of city exploring, islands hopping and chilling in the northern parts of the country. Everything was well organised and prepared, from accomodation which btw was very nice and cozy, to the transport and all activities. There was no pressure at all, everything was done in enjoyable pace. Timo is great and funny guy, he knows Thailand pretty well and did his best to make us have a great time. The group was amazing, very kind and funny people. Looking forward for new trips and adventures together!

Timo offers the perfect introduction to backpacking. The trip was simply amazing, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone considering their first backpacking adventure. I came home with so many unforgettable memories. Timo provided all the necessary information to make sure we were perfectly prepared. On the Trip, he had planned activities that kept things exciting and engaging, but he also left enough free time for personal exploration—a perfect balance between structure and freedom. The group itself was fantastic. Every single person was kind, open, and fun to be around. I genuinely hope to see many of them again in the future. As for Timo, he’s not only an excellent guide but also just a great person to spend time with—whether exploring new places, relaxing together, or enjoying a night out. This was my first big solo trip, and Timo really took me under his wing. The trip through southern Thailand with Timo as our tour guide was just awesome and will stay with me for a long time to come! The entire organization and support provided by Timo, even before the trip began, were simply excellent. The packing lists and all the necessary information on entry requirements, vaccinations, credit cards, etc. made preparing for the trip much easier. During the trip, Timo shared a wealth of information with us about the culture, the people, and his own travel experiences to date, which I really appreciated. The itinerary itself was a wonderful combination of relaxation, culture, and adventure. I found the mix of pre-planned activities (e.g., temple visits, diving) and sufficient flexibility for spontaneous activities to be just right. The group dynamic couldn’t have been better. We all got along very well and had a lot of fun together. I felt completely at ease and would go on another trip with him in a heartbeat. I can therefore wholeheartedly recommend Timo as a tour leader!

The Perfect Introduction to Backpacking and an Unforgettable City-Hopping Trip The city-hopping trip from Bangkok through Singapore and Malacca to Kuala Lumpur was the perfect introduction to backpacking for me—my first trip of this kind, and I really couldn’t have asked for a better one. Timo struck just the right balance in introducing us to this style of travel without making it overwhelming or too extreme. Instead, we got exciting insights into low-budget travel and frugalism—always with a friendly, laid-back vibe. The itinerary was really well-planned and varied—from bustling metropolises to cultural gems like Malacca. What was especially cool was that we didn’t just see the typical tourist spots, but also discovered lots of hidden gems off the beaten path. In Bangkok, we even got to meet Timo’s wife, who, together with him, showed us some real hidden gems—she was totally warm and open. Too bad she wasn’t with us for the whole trip! Our group was really cool, too—a diverse, laid-back bunch that made it a blast to travel with. The trip was well-organized but still left plenty of room for spontaneity and our own ideas. Bottom line: If you’re looking for an authentic, well-structured, yet flexible trip, this is the perfect choice. I’ll definitely travel with Timo again!

Timo is very supportive and detailed and provides ample of info and details especially on how to prepare for the trip prior to starting it. We were only four in the group including the group leader and that made it it easy to manage. However as 3 out of 4 members were German speaking, though we all knew English, personally as the the only Greek/English speaking person in the company I felt many times a bit of an outsider as many conversations were made in German, a language that regrettably I do not know.

Timo is a great trip mate! His communication is very clear, and we were able to get on the same page very quickly about what a backpacking trip entails. He helped with very detailed planning with packing lists, information about phone plans, and how to get around before we were able to meet in Bangkok. After we met, it was all smooth sailing from there, and we were more like friends on a trip who got to know each other well, and had a lot of fun. All this was possible because of Timo's planning, knowledge, and active attempts of making the trip fun. Glad that we went on a trip together, and look forward to my next trip with him.

Timo is a true travel expert on Southeast Asia! Anyone who doesn’t want to travel alone in this region (and probably beyond) is in excellent hands with him! 😊 For example, before my departure, he gave me a few (insider) tips on Thailand (regarding what to pack, booking flights, how to get from the airport to the hotel, which SIM card to use, etc.) and thoroughly answered all my questions, so that nothing really stood in the way of a relaxing trip. In that regard, the trip itself was really cool, varied, and exciting. We gained authentic insights into the cultural and scenic highlights of (Northern) Thailand and the daily lives of the people there. Timo’s trips are also free of any rush and tailored to the needs and wishes of the TripMates, which is what makes them so special overall!

Timo is an amazing guy, friendly and helpful - a genuine and interesting person to share time with no matter your destination! His communication and organisational skills are second to none - you really can relax and fully enjoy the experience. We set up communication with myself and other members of the trip. I reccomend booking your place as soon as you can and taking advantage of this because Timo is more than happy to help your trip run smoothly - before - during and after. On first meeting Timo, it was chilled just like meeting an old friend. It didn't take long and we were all eating, having a laugh and revving up for the adventure ahead. I really appreciate the time and planning Timo put into my trip, it really maximised my time and allowed me to do so much more whilst simultaneosly taking all of the work out of it and just leaving me to enjoy things to the max :-) The whole journey was one positive experience, I loved it - there was never a wasted minute.
