Guided trip
Hi, Wanderlust fellow! I'm GG, a history and culture geek based in Istanbul. If you consider yourself the same, then come and join me so that we can get the show on the road together! If you have been planning to visit Istanbul for a cultural trip, then you are lucky you've come across me! :) Along with me, who has an educational background in classical languages and culture, you will experience a deeper mindset while strolling in the old town. Plus, we will have deep yet pleasant conversations while sipping our coffee during our break times. If I've caught your interest so far, and you want to learn more, then keep reading:) The trip will be for 4 days (13th March- 16th March) starting from the heart of Istanbul; "Sultanahmet" and will continue in the historical attractions. All these spots are close to each other. So, we probably will only take the tramway when we head to the Archaeological museum. Since this trip will be culture oriented - and I know, you are particularly seeking that ;) - we will visit the museums and attractions in the area. Yay! Plus, we will experience delicious Turkish cuisine and enjoy the bustle of the town while sipping our coffee. After we are done with our trip, we will still have extra time for the night to have fun together. We can go to a pub (there are plenty of nice pubs around Beşiktaş or Kadıköy) or a concert or a theatre play. Or we can merely stay at the hostel and get acquainted with other travel fellows and have fun together. Any advice will be taken into consideration:) Let's check out our trip plan: Sultanahmet Square will be our starting point. The trip will basically consist of 12 destinations: 1- At Meydanı (Hippodrome) 2- Yılanlı Sütun (Serpent Column) 3- Alman Çeşmesi (German Fountain) 4. Türk ve İslam Eserleri Müzesi (Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum) 5- Sultanahmet Camii (Blue Mosque) 6- Topkapı Sarayı (Topkapı Palace) 7- Aya İrini Müzesi (Hagia Irene Museum) 8- İstanbul Arkeoloji Müzeleri (Istanbul Archaeology Museums) 9- Yerebatan Sarnıcı (Basilica Cistern) 10- İslam Bilim ve Teknoloji Tarihi Müzesi (Istanbul Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam) 11- Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar Edebiyat Müzesi (Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar Literature Museum Library) 12- Gülhane Parkı (Rosehouse Park) If you are into Ancient Egyptian culture, that's great! Because Istanbul holds one of the most famous obelisks around the world; The Obelisk of Theodosius. We will see the obelisk nearhand, and we will learn more about its history. We will also study the scripts on the obelisk which were written in the form of Egyptian Hieroglyphs. Don't worry! Your guide has studied some Egyptian Hieroglyphs back in university:) Plus, she holds a BA in Classical Languages (Latin and Ancient Greek) Accommodation: Sultan Hostel (9.5 scores on Hostelworld) * Arrival at 10 am. * Check-in / March 13 * Check-out / March 16 We will stay at Sultan Hostel for 3 nights — a Standard 6 Bed Mixed Dorm Ensuite. In case of in need, make sure to take more cash with you before you take the trip because there will be a slight expansion in the costs since the costs of food and beverage have not been calculated, as the venues are not decided yet due to the changing prices of the restaurants and cafes. Plus, we can choose together where to eat and drink. Don't worry, there are plenty of nice restaurants and cafes;) What is included in the price? - Accommodation (hostel) Additional Costs: Lunch, dinner, coffee, museum tickets, tramway (Public Transport Card) Ps. Allianz Travel Insurance is provided by JoinMyTrip for German and Austrian residents. Hope to meet you in person and see you there! :)
