Guided trip
What's special?
special Dolce vita in Rome
special Immersion in the local culture + history
special Culinary experience
Are you ready to explore and be immersed in one the most ancient, vibrant, capital city in the world and unveil its secrets? ๐Ÿ› If you're passionate about history, culture, and a foodie, this trip is 100% for you! ๐ŸŒž During our three days and a half together (March 28-31, 2024), we will go back and forth to Antiquity, Renaissance, and the Modern era, while discovering the gorgeous heart of the city. From the Colosseo โ€“the symbol of the Western culture and the Fori Imperiali, to the Vaticano and the Castel Santโ€™Angelo, without forgetting the Fontana di Trevi, Pantheon, Piazza di Spagna, or the emblematic, old-working class district of Trastevere, we will cover more than two millennia of intense history. As I want you to have an unforgettable experience and be able to enjoy Rome to the fullest, I donโ€™t want to overload our schedule. I will plan carefully all the stops I think are worth to make and give you options too, but we can also decide as a group what to do, eat, and where to go, depending on how we feel. And you can of course have some time to yourself as well ๐Ÿ˜Š. I just want everyone to feel comfortable and not pressured. As I always say, the best way to capture the essence of Rome is to be willing to get lost, go with the flow, meet the locals, and "do as the Romans do". Trust me, there is nothing best than wandering around the cobblestone streets off the beaten path, admiring the colorful palazzi (buildings), entering the gorgeous churches, and listening to the local talk in Italian (or Romano to be precise) ๐Ÿ˜. Except maybe, eating! ๐Ÿ˜‹ Letโ€™s talk about food and channel our inner Elizabeth Gilbert. Marveling at the glorious sites is amazing, but not on an empty stomach. Prepare to indulge in flavorful, typical Roman dishes such as the pasta cacio e pepe, the real carbonara, supplรฌ, pizza, carciofi alla giudรฌa, fine wine, marittozzi, homemade gelato, coffee, etc. Rome is made for foodies ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿง†๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿท. One thing about that though: gluten and lactose-free products exist but are hard to find so if youโ€™re intolerant or allergic, please consider it probably wonโ€™t be the best option for you. If we are not too tired after walking for hours, we can go out to a bar at night or have aperitivo at the place we'll be staying at all together ๐Ÿน๐Ÿป๐Ÿง€. Whatโ€™s included: - 3 nights in a beautiful central apartment or a hotel (see details below) so everything will be reachable by foot. Extras: - Cooking class ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ to learn how to make homemade pasta and/or pizza. About 75-85โ‚ฌ per person for a 2.5/3.5-hour class + eating. If youโ€™re interested, Iโ€™ll add it to the final price of the trip. - Tickets to any museums, sites, or activities if you want to see or do something, outside of the group. Feel free to let me know as itโ€™s important to book the tickets in advance ๐Ÿ˜Š. - Transportation from/to the airport. There are a few options here depending on your preferences. You can take a cab for approx. 50โ‚ฌ, the Leonardo Express (train) for 14โ‚ฌ to Termini station which I recommend, or one of the shuttle buses (6โ‚ฌ as of now). Prices are only for a one-way ride. - All the food. - Travel insurance (except if you already have one that covers the trip). Expectations about the trip: - I am looking to have fun, to eat good food, and to take the time to enjoy everything the city has to offer. Rome is my favorite place in the world ๐Ÿค, so I am always happy to go back home and see peoplesโ€™ eyes shining when looking at her ๐Ÿฅน. - I am looking for 4/5 open-minded, friendly, non-smoking people to join me on this trip. If youโ€™re good at communicating, flexible and independent, respectful, passionate as me about history, culture, and food, willing to live an authentic and slow experience, not too overwhelmed by big crowds and like to walk, and of course, if you love to meet new people (travelers and the locals), I canโ€™t wait to see you next March! ๐Ÿค—

About me! I am Amandine from Provence, about to turn 33 in a few days, and I'll be your TripLeader (I'll do all the arranging and booking for you๐Ÿ˜Š). It will be the first time for JMT but Iโ€™ve been planning trips for five years now, either for my solo trips or for the ones I go to with my friends. I always make sure we have the best time together and our needs are fully respected. I speak French, English (I used to be an English teacher), Italian, Spanish and want to learn Portuguese and Greek after going back to study Arabic. My friends say about me I am a social butterfly as I can connect quickly and easily with strangers but that I need my own alone time (true!). They love that I am very passionate and loyal, trustful, honest, and a professional storyteller. Besides being an anthropologist, travel designer (launching my own business soon!), food stylist/photographer, I love reading books as much as possible and cooking homemade, Mediterranean food. I listen to Latin music and dance on reggaetรณn every day (makes me in a good mood), and the rest you can discover in my bio ๐Ÿ˜‰. ~ Don't hesitate to reach out if you feel like it or if you have any questions, send me a message ๐Ÿ“ฉ. Hope to see you soon to experience la dolce vita together ๐Ÿค.

Three options for the accommodation: - For the first one, I will be aiming to get us an apartment whose location will be very central or close to a metro station. We will have to share rooms or maybe beds (double ones) as itโ€™s difficult to find enough space/single beds for everyone. - Second one could be a very nice hotel with shared double beds (2 ppl per room) for the same price as the apartment, located via del Corso. - Last and cheapest one. If I cannot find anything within a reasonable price range for Rome (which means NOT below 550-600โ‚ฌ per person for three nights), or within your budget, Iโ€™ll prioritize going to another hotel with less quality and comfort, shared rooms with single beds, but still very central at Via dell'Orso. ~ ๐Ÿ“ IMPORTANT: please note that since the pandemic, especially since late 2022, prices in Rome and in Italy have gotten insanely high and still do. I go to the capital city every year at least 2 to 3 times a year and they are not joking now. But Iโ€™d rather have us spend more on the accommodation (or still be in the city center if hotel is the option) but be able to do everything by foot than wasting time and money in transportation (traffic is crazy in Rome and taxi fares can get expensive really quickly). ~ I'll show you the pictures as soon as I am sure of the accommodation chosen ๐Ÿ˜‰

Rome

Day 1-2
March 28: first day together Arrival in Fiumicino or Ciampino airport (preferably in the morning), meeting point at Termini station where we'll take either the metro or a shared taxi depending on where the accommodation will be located. We will settle down at the apartment or the hotel, get to know each other, rest if needed, do grocery shopping if you want to, then go out to start exploring the vibrant city center ๐Ÿ˜. If the weather is nice and you are all okay with it, we can go have an aperitivo at one of the great rooftops in the city ๐ŸŒ‡ (if open). Or there will be the possibility to end the day with a cooking class๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ (booked long in advance) if you're up for it!

Day 2-4
March 29-30: sight-seeing, food touring and relaxing Depending on what we would have seen on the first day, I am planning to take you to the following sites: - The Colosseo + Fori imperiali (possibility to get entrance tickets for those of you who will want to, but they need to be purchased in advance and are not included in the final price. The visit is at least 2.5h long); - The Altare della Patria (Vittoriano); - Pantheon (if you want to go in, the entrance is now 5โ‚ฌ); - Piazza Navona; - Fontana di Trevi (heads up: it's always packed so I don't want you to be disappointed); - Piazza di Spagna + Trinitร  dei Monti where Audrey Hepburn shot Roman Holiday; - Piazza del Popolo and if we have time, Villa Borghese; - Vaticano + Sistine Chapel (possibility to get entrance tickets here too for those of you who will want to, but they need to be purchased in advance and are not included in the final price. The visit is at least 3h long); - Trastevere district; ...and other surprises ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค—. We will stop for breakfast (colazione) if not taken at the apartment, for lunch (pranzo), and dinner (cena) to eat typical food and I'll take you to my favorite places where we'll meet the locals๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿง†๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿท๐Ÿ˜‹. If not done on the first day, possibility to take a cooking class ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ on the 29 or on the 30 (booked long in advance) if you're up for it!
