We will sail from island to island and bay to bay onboard my yacht that has just completed a sail around the world and is equipped with many nice toys like a SUP and a watermaker that makes life on the sea comfortable and chill. We will do a good mix of swimming around the boat in anchorages, visiting 1-2 island towns and explore there, visiting beach bars and Tavernas and maybe take a scooter to drive around an island. We will pool about 200 Euros per person at the start of the trip for the "crew kitty" to get food and drinks for the week and for marina fees and for re-fueling the boat at the end of the trip.

About Me! I am a 37-year-old German journalist who quit his job to sail around the world. I have also worked as a yacht skipper as a side job for 10+ years. I have also a masters degree in Political Science and Sociology. I am easygoing and uncomplicated as a person.

The boat has 4 double cabins. You share your cabin usually with another crew member of the same sex unless you want it differently. We also have 2 mattresses to sleep on deck and 2 hammocks. We have two bathrooms. In the middle of the boat is the salon with kitchen and big table with sofa area to hang out, cook and eat. Any questions about the trip? You can let me know in the Q&A section!

The sailing trip was a very special and enriching experience for me. I was able to gather many new impressions, discover beautiful places and experience sailing up close. I particularly remember the adventures in the bays, such as swimming at dawn to Voidokilia beach and the subsequent rocky climb to Palaiókastro, where we watched the sunrise. Sailing at night during the Perseid rain was also magical. The night swim with the fairy lights was particularly fun. I was able to enjoy many beautiful sunrises from the deck of the boat. I also enjoyed snorkeling and exploring the caves at Antipaxos. It was nice to be able to actively help out, from steering the boat to helping with the rigging. This made me even more interested in sailing. The moments when the skipper sang sea shanties were a particular highlight, creating an epic atmosphere on board together with the crew. But there were also moments that were challenging for me at first. As I had no sailing experience, I felt a little excluded and useless at the beginning, while the experienced passengers were already actively involved. It was only after an intensive discussion with the skipper that I felt like I was really part of the crew, and from then on it was exciting and enriching for me too. Unfortunately, we weren't able to sail to all the planned stops and there were unscheduled 25-hour trips with night sailing. For the future, I would like to see a slightly better flow of information, e.g. a small meeting in the morning to discuss what is on the agenda for the day and who is taking on which tasks, as well as a joint feedback session in the evening. This would not only make organization easier, but would also strengthen the sense of community even more. Nevertheless, the positives outweigh the negatives for me: I learned an incredible amount, made wonderful memories and discovered a new passion for sailing. I would definitely travel with the Freespirit again, preferably with Moritz on board, who some of my fellow passengers already knew from previous trips and whose personality and manner were highly praised. Next time, I would certainly bring a few of my friends with me, with whom I would like to share the experiences.

Trip Itinerary
1

Lefkada

Day 1-2
On the first day of the trip we first provision the boat for the whole week with a big supermarket run in Levkada town. Then we either go off to anchor out with a view towards the island or stay in town and explore the bars of the old town a bit more.
2

Zakinthos

Day 2-3
After a longer sailing day south we stop at the island of Zakynthos. Maybe at the famous shipwreck bay, with its massive white cliffs. Maybe we will anchor in one of the bays in the south where the there is a turtle sanctuary. Maybe we will be able to see one or two while swimming around the boat after anchoring.
3

Methoni

Day 3-4
After a long gentle sailing day with lots of time to sunbathe on deck, we arrive on the southwest corner of the Pelopones and anchor next to this medieval town with its nice beach to enjoy the view over a sundowner drink.
4

Elafonisos

Day 4-5
After a long sailing day we arrive at this stunning beach - one of the best in Greece. The fine white beach sand really stirs up feelings of the Caribbean. Because its far from any city we will have this beach almost to ourselves. There is also an offlying island to hike up to to enjoy the view of this double beach.
5

Monemvasia

Day 5-6
Monemvasia is an impressive medieval town perched on a rock overlooking the bay. After sailing along the mountain ranges of the eastern Pelopones, we explore its small cobble-stone streets. Maybe we enjoy some food in a fish taverna, or cook on our boat and hang out on the pier, talking to other sailors.
6

Poros

Day 6-7
At the end of our sailing trip we sail past the islands of Dokos and Hydra into the sound of Poros and past the elegant harbor promenade with the many yachts to find our spot. In the evening we stroll up to the clock tower to enjoy the view over the bay.
