About me: Hello, my name is Daru (37 yo) from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. I have been living in Yogyakarta over the last 15 years. I have worked in travel agents for 9 years. Now as the world seems to return to normal, I would love to share the beauty and vibe of historical city of Yogyakarta, this time with me personally and with the itinerary that rather unique and flexible. About the trip: Yogyakarta is a special region where the sultanate and its palace still exist, living their tradition in harmony with modern life. Such thing can only be found in Yogyakarta, that's what will make this trip special. Many traditional Javanese and Colonial buildings as well as ancient Hindhu-Budhist temples and beautiful countryside has made Yogyakarta is perfect place for all the heritage and culture enthusiast. Trip highlight: - Sultan Palace of Yogyakarta - Traditional kampong or village - Prambanan Temple - Cycling countryside - Cooking class - Night tour in the city On this trip, I will take you to the places where you can feel the tradition, see the daily life of local people, and last but not least to taste the local dishes. Experience the beauty of Yogyakarta countryside with bicycle trip (track mostly downhill with easy level of difficulty). Spend 6D5N at air-conditioned accommodation and private vehicle. Through this trip, I expect to meet trip mates from different background of nationality, so we can share about cultures, tradition, expertise. This trip will be a fun thing and don't worry about the schedule because we can discuss all possibility. Yogyakarta

Day 1
Check in at your accommodation. Freshen up, and we meet at the accomodation then spend the afternoon in a local coffee shop for group introduction and get to know each other. The rest of the afternoon is free at leisure. IMPORTANT NOTE: Pick up transport from Airport is not included. Upon arrival at Yogyakarta International Airport (IATA code: YIA), you can take airport train to Tugu Train Station located in the city centre (last operation hour at 9pm local time). Ticket costs €1,5 - €3 depend on the route option, can be bought at the vending machine on the train station in airport. Train journey approx. 40 minutes. I will pick you up at Tugu Train Station. During night, we visit Malioboro Street, the most iconic area in Yogyakarta and the southern square, where people spend their time gathering while enjoy their traditional and delicious snacks. Try one lap of neon-lit bicycle together (multi person seating). The Palace of Yogyakarta

Day 1-2
After breakfast, we drive to Sultan Palace to learn the long history of Yogyakarta Sultanate, exist since 18th century to this date and see the collections from the kings and royal family from time to time. Continue the short journey to Taman Sari Water Castle, a recreational park built by the first king for his hareem. Experience the journey with becak or cycle, the iconic traditional vehicle in Yogyakarta and we explore local kampong or village. En route, you will witness the process of batik making or shadow puppet. IMPORTANT NOTE: Sultan Palace is the home of Sultan and Royal Family members. Local and living traditions are still exist to date and some activities are closed for public. There's possibility of closure announcement on short notice. We can switch the program and discuss on the spot in this case. Prambanan Temple

Day 2-3
Today we start early in the morning 06:30 and go cycling to explore the countryside of Yogyakarta. With private car we drive to the starting point and start the journey (track mostly downhill). Along the journey, we will witness the epic scenery in the slope of Merapi Mountain, the most active volcano in Java. Quick stop to meet local people in their daily life and feel their warm and hospitality. Simple traditional lunch served en route. We finish the journey in Prambanan area, and you will discover the small yet beautiful temples in the area and the mighty Prambanan Temple, listed as UNESCO World Heritage, the biggest Hindu Temple in Indonesia, built in 9th century, dedicated to three Gods in Hindu or called trimurti;Brahma (creator), Wisnu (protector), and Shiva (destructor). Kotagede

Day 3-4
We start today with a visit to local market of Kotagede. Kotagede is a historic area, where the Mataram Islam Kingdom was built in the 16th century before split in two kingdoms, Yogyakarta and Surakarta. We visit the historic local market and find commodities such as herbs, fruits, vegetables, spices. We will buy all the ingredients before start cooking at traditional house of local people. Today's menu is traditional Indonesian salad or called gado-gado, mixed vegetable with peanut sauce and fried tempe made from soya bean. Enjoy the meals before we explore more the beauty of Kotagede. Parangtritis Beach

Day 4-5
We spend this morning with no schedule until noon. In the afternoon we drive to the south, Parangtritis Beach, the most famous beach in Yogyakarta. Upon arrival, we will try sand boarding in Gumuk Pasir or sand dunes. Finish the day with a stunning sunset overlooking the Indian Ocean. Return to the hotel before farewell dinner. Yogyakarta

Day 5-6
After breakfast, check out from your accommodation and transfer to airport or train station.
