Delhi

Day 1-3
Day 1: We meet up and stay in Delhi--the capital of the world's largest democracy and a classic blend of history and urban culture. The day begins with light ice-breaking sessions where we get to know each other. 4 pm Delhi Haat: Start your journey with Delhi Haat. It is a one-stop destination for shopping, dining, and watching cultural performances. The handicraft market is the star attraction and offers some of the best buys. 6 pm India Gate: Take a drive to the India Gate, about 10 minutes away, and see the stunning archway bathed in soft golden light and glistening against the dark sky. It offers a great opportunity for photo-ops. 8 pm Local markets: Street shopping at some of the most popular South Delhi markets such as Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar and South Ex. Explore these markets, for the best street food joints and a colourful maze of shops. While South Ex hosts high-end brands, Sarojini Nagar is a great stopover to indulge in Delhi’s culture of street shopping. 10 pm Delhi nightlife: Khan Market is a great spot to explore the nightlife of Delhi. Several lounges, pubs, socials and cafés offer the best of music, food and drinks. Explore local food, and party late night--How about Disco? Day 2: Start your day by exploring the Rajpath's landmark sites like Rashtrapati Bhavan. To explore the best of Delhi, start early. That is before traffic hits the road; get the most amazing sun-lit pictures in front of landmark buildings: Visit Old Delhi's cultural delights like Jama Masjid, Purana Qila, etc., which are famous heritage structures. Qutub Minar--UNESCO World Heritage Site: Visit to the iconic Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it remains one of the most magnificent buildings of India from the medieval era. Another attraction here is the Qutub complex that houses a number of monuments. One of the most popular among these is the Iron Pillar, also known as the Ashoka Pillar, which dates back to the 4th century. 10 am: Return to the hotel for a very good breakfast. 12 Noon: Red Fort--Unesco world heritage site: 1PM Chandni Chowk (Lunch): visit the food havens of the capital and treat your taste buds by indulging in the gastronomic delights of Chandni Chowk. Iconic food stalls serving chole bhature (chickpeas with fried rice flour bread), parantha (stuffed flatbreads), chaat, allo-kachori (deep – fried pastry served with potato gravy) etc., will give you a culinary experience beyond belief. 2 pm: Visit the Jantar Mantar, one of the five astronomical observatories built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur. In the evening, visit local malls, just chill with TripMates and have fun!

Agra

Day 3-4
Day 3: After breakfast, we start for Agra. After a 4-hour fun drive, we reach Agra! Taj Mahal--One of the 7 wonders of the world--A UNESCO World Heritage Site (Friday closed): The Taj Mahal is known as a monument of love and a grieving emperor's ode to his beloved deceased queen. An immense mausoleum of white marble, built in Agra between 1631 and 1648 by order of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife, the Taj Mahal is the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage. Agra fort--A UNESCO World Heritage Site : Agra Fort is about 2.5 kilometers (1.6 mi) northwest of its more famous sister monument, the Taj Mahal. The fort can be more accurately described as a walled city. Enjoy the sites, local food, rest! Day 4: Keoladeo National park--A UNESCO site: Early morning, we start for Keoladeo National Park, a vast bird sanctuary located in the State of Rajasthan, one of the major wintering areas for large numbers of aquatic birds from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, China and Siberia. Some 364 species of birds, including the rare Siberian crane, have been recorded in the park. Later in the day, we start for Khajuraho!

Khajuraho

Day 4-6
Day 4: Evening, as we reach Khajuraho, we enjoy a good meal and rest at night! If time permits, attend the light & Sound Show at Khajuraho temple. Day 5: 6AM to 10 AM: Panna National Park Safari: Indulge in the Jungle Safari that lets one experience the dense ambience and encounter the wildest ranges of mammals, reptiles, birds, flora, fauna and avifauna. 10 AM to 12 PM: Raneh Falls The falls are situated just where the Panna National Park starts. How about bathing in this unknown paradise? I am In! 1PM to 5 PM: Khajuraho--UNESCO world heritage site: If stones could speak, the Khajuraho temples would create melodies! Situated in Madhya Pradesh and cradled by the Vindhya mountain range, the heritage town of Khajuraho is famed for being home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site listed temple complex that features Hindu and Jain houses of worship. These temples are famous for their stunning intricate sculptures depicting different aspects of life: spirituality, love, friendship, sports, royalty and most significantly, awe-inspiring art. Based on their geographical location, the temples are categorised into three groups: Eastern, Western and Southern. Believed to have been built in a relatively short period of time spanning over 100 years, i.e. between 950-1050 AD, the complex boasts 22 temple structures that remain from the initial group of 85. Forgotten for centuries, they were rediscovered in the 1850s and restored. Evening: Board the train to Varanasi.

Varanasi

Day 6-9
Day 6: Morning: Check-in at Varanasi. Varanasi: One of the oldest living inhabitations of the world, the sacred city of Varanasi or Benaras, nestled on the banks of the holy Ganges river, has been attracting pilgrims for centuries. Celebrated author Mark Twain, who visited India in the last decade of the 19th century, described the city as “older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend.” Enjoy the Ghats of Varanasi, the culture, the temples, the spirituality! 12 Noon: Sarnath: One of the most revered Buddhist pilgrimage centres in the world, Sarnath, is located just 10 km away from Varanasi. It is believed that after attaining nirvana (enlightenment), Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon here, sanctified as the Maha Dharma Chakra Pravartan Sutra. Sarnath has several structures from the time – such as the Dhamekh Stupa, which marks the spot where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon and the Chaukhandi Stupa, where Lord Buddha met his first five disciples. Ganga Aarti: One of the oldest and the most sacred ghats in the holy city of Varanasi is Dashashwamedh. This place is most famous for its Ganga arti ( a holy fire ritual), which is an elaborate and lively ceremony that takes place at dusk every day. Amid blowing of conch shells, ringing of bells, clanging of brass cymbals and chanting chorus of mantras, priests venerate the Ganga, the lifeline of Varanasi, with brass lamps that rise several tiers. The arti lasts about 45 minutes. Day 7-8: Morning: Take a boat ride through ghats to see people practicing yoga. Enjoy the sunrise, take some lessons of yoga. Meditate! Noon: Enjoy the rich culture, delicious food, and local markets. Consider buying a Benarasi sari as a souvenir, or for gifting. Evening: Ghat walk, Ganga Arti. By the time we leave Varanasi, one would feel evolved and uplifted! Evening: Board the train to Kolkata.

Kolkata

Day 9-11
Day 9: Morning: Check-in at Kolkata. Kolkata--The city of joy: Delicious food, mouthwatering desserts and city tour. Hey, this is my city, roam like a local here! Victoria: Enjoy the chariot ride at Victoria. Birla Planetarium / Indian Museum / Zoo Party at night. Enjoy Kolkata's nightlife! Day 10: Take a morning city walk. Enjoy the mouthwatering traditional dishes Kolkata is known for, particularly the sweets--Keep trying new ones! Eco Park / Nicco Park / Aquatica / Millennium Park / Kumartuli / Zoo / Botanical garden. Evening Board the train to Siliguri (NJP).

Gangtok

Day 11-13
Day 11: We reach New Jalpaiguri. Now starts the magical 4-hour car journey towards Gangtok (Sikkim). (Carry Passport size photos) Sikkim situated in the Eastern Himalayan region with an area of 7,096 sq km and altitude ranging from 300m to 8,586m above sea level is a wonderland blessed with natural abundance from icy cold deserts, flowering alpine meadows, to lush green forests and emerald mountain lakes. The crowning glory of this wonderland is the magnificent Mt. Khangchendzonga (8,586m), the third-highest mountain of the world. A tourist hotspot, with avenues for mountain biking, hiking, paragliding, river rafting and yak safari. The city allows you to let loose your inner daredevil and explore the mighty Himalayas. Day 11-12 Experience a pleasant and relaxing stay at Gangtok, enjoy sightseeing, local markets, Indo-Tibetian food, and above all, peace and tranquility. Just be yourself! Attractions: Nature--Banjhakri Waterfall, Kupup lake, Seven sisters waterfall, Tashi Viewpoint, Tsomgo Lake Spiritual--Do-Drul Chorten, Enchey/Phodong/Rumtek monastery, Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok, Parks--Deer park, Himalayan zoological park, Khangchendzonga National park (A UNESCO site). Day 13 Morning we start for Pelling.

Pelling

Day 13-15
Day 13: We take a beautiful 4-hour nature drive to Pelling (Sikkim). Day 13-14 Pelling: Offering jaw-dropping views of the Himalayas and the snow-capped Kanchenjunga, Pelling, in Sikkim, is a gorgeous tourist destination. With charming houses perched atop a wooded ridge, this hill town is framed by spectacular natural forests, making it a natural paradise. Attractions: Skywalk, Rabdentse ruins, Buddha Park (Ravangla), Kanchenjunga falls etc. Enjoy the nature, visit the monasteries, waterfalls, local sites and markets. This is a place for digital detox. Be at peace, feel soulful and rejuvinated by the mother nature. Realise, I am one with the universe; the universe is one with me!

Day 15
Day 15 - We travel to Baghdogra Airport to return back home. Do you have your returns planned from Kolkata or Delhi? ➡️ We met as TripMates, became friends on the way, and travelled as one family.
