Fuerteventura is on my bucket list for a long time, now it's time to go! In June 2024, I would like to explore this heavenly island, Fuerteventura, through a 6 days Full Immersion! I imagine a mixture of nature, culture and relax. And, last but not least, fun together! If you love adventure, desert beaches and wine like me, you CANNOT miss Heavenly Fuerteventura: it is a MUST trip you have to enjoy, joining me, of course😉!
About myself: Always a lover of sun and sea, I have a particular weakness for islands! My first time in the Canary Islands was in November 2021, on my own: I had been meditating for a long time to set off to discover that fascinating and wild island of which I had been told so much about – Lanzarote – and one fine day, in no time at all, I made up my mind and left. It was only a 5-day trip, but it left its mark on me, so much so that I vowed to return! First, however, I would like to discover Paradisiacal Fuerteventura and this second trip to the archipelago of the Canarian Islands I would like it to be with company.... So, if you share the same passions as me and are endowed with the spirit of adventure, come forward and let's set off together to Fuerteventura! What I have in mind this time is a 6-day tour: a concentrate of sunshine, crystal clear sea, heavenly beaches, good wine, and breathtaking scenery going from north to south of the island and indulging in a short "matryoshka doll" style interlude visiting the island within the island... An excursion to the Isle de Lobos is in fact a perfect stop to enjoy a breathtaking view in pure relaxation, surrounded by fascinating dolphins.

Corralejo
Day 1-2
Meeting point at Fuerteventura Airport, short stop in Puerto del Rosario and off to discover the Dunes of Corralejo with a visit to its Natural Park and overnight stay in Corralejo. Once we all arrive at Fuerteventura Airport, the first thing we will do is to rent a car that will accompany us throughout our journey. From there we will head (estimated time by car: about 5 minutes), for a short stop, to the capital of Fuerteventura, Puerto del Rosario (dating back to the 18th century and until 1956 still called Puerto de Cabras), a port town protected by a natural bay and characterized by a picturesque waterfront. We will then head north to visit the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park (estimated time by car: just over 20 minutes). This is the main dune complex in the Canary Islands, consisting of a huge expanse of white sand shaped constantly by the omnipresent wind. These dunes merge with spectacular beaches, creating unique spectacular landscapes. In addition, the park is made up of active dunes that are constantly renewed by moving under the influence of the north-easterly winds. The white sand dunes are composed of 90 per cent organic material (a pulverization of mollusk shells and other marine organisms with an external skeleton). The geomorphological and landscape value of this particular dune system decreed its protection as the Corralejo Dunes and Los Lobos Island Natural Park in 1982. Subsequently, in 1994, the Corralejo Dunes and Los Lobos Island were divided into two separate natural parks. Finally, we end our first day together by spending the night in Corralejo (https://helenefuerteventura.com/), only 7 minutes away by car.

Corralejo
Day 2-3
Departing by express ferry (estimated time: 20 minutes) from Corralejo, day trip to Lobos Island (also known as Isla de Lobos). With a surface area of just 4.5 square kilometers, this small uninhabited volcanic island, located between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, is a true naturalistic pearl of the Canary Islands that is certainly worth seeing. It has its name from its former inhabitants, the sea lions (Lobos Marinos in Spanish), a colony of monk seals that has now disappeared. As we cannot stay for more than 4 hours on the island and need a special permit to sail there, for convenience we will rely on the company (https://www.civitatis.com/en/corralejo/lobos-island-ferry-trip) to provide us with the necessary authorization to access Lobos Island included in the round-trip price from Corralejo. Once landed, we will hike to the highest point on the island, Montaña La Caldera, an inactive volcano, which can be reached via a hiking trail, and whose breathtaking views make it one of the most fascinating places on Lobos. Then, as a fitting end to the day, before leaving the island, we will enjoy some well-deserved relaxation at Playa de la Concha, a beautiful white sandy beach surrounded by basaltic cliffs and crystal-clear waters. Finally, in the afternoon return to Corralejo and in the evening tour of its main street, Avenida Nuestra Señora del Carmen, the centre of the city's nightlife full of bars, pubs and restaurants with live music and evening entertainment. La Oliva
Day 3-4
Starting from Corralejo (a 15-minute drive) we head for Playa del Bajo de la Burra, also known as Popcorn Beach. This beach is definitely worth a (brief) stop because of its peculiarity. In fact, what makes it up are not rocks but small algae that look exactly like popcorn. It seems that these algae are originally red when in the sea. Then, when dead, their skeleton turns white due to the remaining limestone, and they take on this very special appearance that gives the whole beach a cheerful touch. Then, in the late morning, we depart for Lajares (estimated drive time: about 20 minutes) for a tasting of wines and typical products from Fuerteventura at the Conatus Winery (https://www.conatvs.com/en/visitas/guided-tours), created from the ancestral vineyards left in Fuerteventura, the first ever in the Canary Islands. Then we continue to one of the most beautiful attractions of Fuerteventura, the Barranco de los Encantados, nicknamed Barranco de los Enamorados because many couples from Tindaya and El Cotillo go there to spend romantic evenings. This area, consisting of fossilized dunes dating back more than 135,000 years, has existed since the sea level dropped. It was subsequently carved out by water and shaped by the wind. Tiscamanita Fuerteventura
Day 4-5
Departure for Montaña Sagrada de Tindaya (10 minutes by car). Montaña Tindaya is a type of Pelean volcano of light grey-brown rock and a particular element, trachyte, a red marble rock. Montaña de Tindaya looks very different from most of the other volcanoes in Fuerteventura, which are of the Strombolian type. The uniqueness of Tindaya seems to have caught the attention of the aboriginal people of Fuerteventura who have made Tindaya a sacred mountain (Montaña sagrada de Tindaya). In fact, near the top of the mountain there are many rock engravings (with human foot forms, or podomorphic petroglyphs) that suggest a Berber origin of Canary Island aborigines. In addition to the engravings, archaeological remains such as cave dwellings, a necropolis and a shell dump have been found. The upper part of Tindaya appears to have been a place of worship where human sacrifices took place. Montaña de Tindaya was classified as a nature reserve in 1987, and in 1994 it was classified as a natural monument and a point of geological interest, so I think it is definitely worth a visit. However, I would like to remind you that to climb the Montaña de Tindaya we will need authorization from the Consejeria de Medio Ambiente. A further 10 minutes by car will take us to the Mirador de Vallebrón for a breathtaking view of Tindaya and its unique surroundings. At the end of the day we will head to our Villa called LA CAÑADA which is situated in Tiscamanita (a 40-minute drive away).

Morro Jable
Day 5-6
Departure from Tiscamanita to Costa Calma (about a 40-minute drive), which owes its name to the fact that the wind blows less strongly there than in other parts of the island. To best enjoy the wonder of its beautiful white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, what I propose is to treat ourselves to a Costa Calma Buggy Tour. We will then head south of Costa Calma, heading for Playa de Sotavento de Jandía (about a quarter-hour drive away), one of the most iconic beaches of Fuerteventura, also famous for hosting important international sporting events, such as the Campeonato del Mundo de Windsurf y Kitesurf, which attracts fans from all over the world. Here we can try our hand at windsurfing or kitesurfing or simply relax. In the afternoon we will move on to Playa del Matorral (about 20 minutes' drive away), also famous for its iconic lighthouse, Faro de Morro Jable, which offers spectacular panoramic views of the beach and ocean. Overnight at a hotel (Villamar Hotel) in Morro Jable (only a 5-minute drive away) to sample the local cuisine in restaurants and kiosks along the coast.

Playa de Ajuy
Day 6
Departing from Morro Jable, we will spend our last day together in Playa de Ajuy (estimated time by car: about 1 hour), enjoying the splendor of its striking landscape in total relaxation until sunset. Characterizing it, making it unique, is an expanse of black sand of volcanic origin that will give us breathtaking landscapes to capture shot after shot. In short, a spectacular destination that, as good lovers of photography, we certainly should not miss;-). Then, still talking about striking scenery, we can hike to the Ajuy Caves (estimated time by car: about 10 minutes). These are the oldest rock formations in the Canary Islands that in 1987, not surprisingly, were declared a National Monument. Admiring them, we will be able to rediscover and relive the primitive soul of wild Fuerteventura – also known as "Isla Lenta" for the little mundanity, unspoiled nature and relaxing rhythms that characterize it – which is the oldest in the Canary Archipelago and the second largest island in the Canary Islands. Finally, at the conclusion of everything, we will head to Fuerteventura Airport (car rental point for vehicle return) for the return home; estimated time by car: about 1 hour.
