What is JoinMyTrip in a nutshell?
JoinMyTrip is a platform where like-minded travelers can find each other in order to go on trips together. On one hand, we have the TripLeader that plans the trips, and on the other hand, we have the TripMates, that join the trips and enjoy a great journey without worrying about the organizing part.
How does it work?
You will have a contract with 10 work hours at JoinMyTrip, and the rest of the time you will use for planning, organizing, promoting, and being on trips.
Do I myself have to go on the trips?
Definitely - as a TripLeader, you are the person responsible for the trip as well as for the group and that everything runs smoothly.
How many trips do I have to plan?
You will need to organize and execute a minimum of 3 trips with a lenght of min. 5 days during the first 3 months. There is no maximum amount of trips.
Do I have to come to Germany, or to your office in Hamburg respectively?
No that is not necessary at all! You can work remotely on your Trips or at your home if you are not traveling - nevertheless, we are of course happy if you would visit us one day then ;)
Is the work paid?

1) You receive one Freelance contract for your work hours (225€/month for 10 hours/week).

2) You receive another contract about the part of the commission of your TripMate bookings.

3) The majority of payment will come from the bookings for your trips: you can determine a TripLeader Fee which you will get from your TripMates for organizing the trip for them. If you get a good deal for accommodation, you find many TripMates and do a smart calculation you can earn up to 2000€ per month on top! Certainly, the monthly income is therefore volantile.
How does the commission work?
From the TripMate, we charge 10% of the total trip price for our services. For this internship, we will split this amount fifty-fifty, so the intern will receive 5% of the total trip price if the TripMate comes from outside JoinMyTrip.
Furthermore, this amount is only paid after the contract period of three months and the if the required three trips are done. This is not part of the salary, but more a bonus payment for success.
Do the trips require to have a minimum length?
Minimum trip length is 5 days, but other than that you are flexible. Keep in mind that for example a CoWorking trip should have a minimum of 14 days.
Can I choose the destinations of the trip?
Absolutely! Feel free to make trips to destinations you already know very well, or explore new countries and regions. Your trip - you are the boss! It is also possible that everything is within your own country.
What kind of trips are thought to do?
I general, you can do Guided Trips or Coworking Trips. The only requirement we have there is that the first or the second trip has to be a Coworking Trip of minimum two weeks.
How many weeks ahead should I publish my trip?
We recommend 4 weeks minimum. This will give you enough time to promote and it also makes sure to find the perfect TripMates!
Do I have to pay for my flight and accomodation?
JoinMyTrip will not cover your travel costs, but if you calculate accordingly, your expenses will be mostly covered by your salary and the commission you earn.
What will I work on during my work hours at JoinMyTrip? Can I choose?
It will depends partly on your preferences and skills, but of course also in which department we have tasks to do. No worries - we will never run out of work ;)
Is there the possibility to continue to work at JoinMyTrip after the internship?
If you do a great job, there is definitely the possibility. But we can't promise anything as it highly depends on the economic situation of the company as well as on our investors.
Can I offer a trip to my home town or do I have to travel?
Doing a trip at your home town is not a problem, as long as all trips are not in your home town - but since you should be a travel lover, we will not worry about that :)
What happens if I can not find any TripMates?
Finding TripMates and "collecting" a travel group together is one of your main tasks, and we have enough tips and resources to support you. So far, we never had a problem with that!
What happens if I am in a different time zone?
Since we have already have staff based in many countries and time zones, this will be not a problem at all.
Can I choose who is going on a trip with me?
Yes, you will find your TripMates yourself, having phone and video calls with them and decide who will be the best fit for your travel group.
Is there a minimum or maximum number of TripMates?
We recommend to travel with at least 3 TripMates, and we would say a maximum about 8. But those are just suggestions from our side, because it also highly depends on the type of trip and the destination, your activities and so on.
What if I can not get a Visa for a certain country?
You are responsible for your Visa, and the TripMates are also responsible for that on their own. Since you are from our side free to travel anywhere, make sure you choose countries where travelling is also easy for you.

What is the timeline?
  • Application process until acceptance: about 2 weeks minimum (please check your mail regularly, sometimes they might go to spam!)
  • The internship always starts at the 1. of each month
  • Before that, the TripLeader Academy has to be absolved
  • Academy times: first week of each month, three days 3-6 PM CET
  • Example: if you want to start in June with the working hours and travelling, you have to participate in the Academy in May
