As an Indonesian traveler who have visited both countries, I have to objectively say that Vietnam is cheaper than Thailand. I came to this consideration when I booked an accommodation in Hanoi, paying €28 for a 3-BR apartment. Meanwhile, you can get a three-star hotel room and breakfast for two people in Bangkok. Besides that, I found that private transportation, such as Grab (Southeast Asian Uber) and private car rental, was cheaper in Vietnam. A lot of logistics come at a better value in Vietnam.

- Vietnam: While staff at major hotels, upscale restaurants, and tour agencies speak English well, communicating with everyday street vendors, taxi drivers, and locals in smaller towns can be challenging. You will frequently rely on translation apps like Google Translate, body language, or a dedicated local guide when managing group orders.

- Intracity: Bangkok features the BTS Skytrain and MRT subway. Rideshares like Grab and Bolt support larger vehicles (GrabSUV, GrabVan) that hold whole families or friend groups comfortably. Ferries and speedboats between islands run like clockwork.

I love popping some spring rolls, dipping it into an acidic chili sauce, into my mouth as much as I enjoy their pork fritters. Besides that, Vietnamese cuisine is known for aromatic broths. You can try soupy food such as pho and bun cha (my personal favorite) that are hearty, comforting, and incredibly delicious.
