About Me! I am a retired military professional and, of the many places I have visited, Jordan is probably my favorite. I have lived and worked there twice and both times I took every chance I could to travel and enjoy the country. Security is paramount, so I will only take you to places I know are safe and pleasant.

Where possible we will stay in international grade hotels - 5* hotel in Amman, 4* at the Dead Sea, 3* in Petra -. The exception is in Wadi Rum where we will stay at a Bedouin Camp with all the required amenities (meals, air conditioning, private bathroom). All places are chosen with comfort and hygiene in mind, so we may enjoy a proper and well deserved rest at the end of each day. Feel free to let me know if you have any concerns or doubts, I will do my best to answer you questions.

Trip Itinerary
1

Amman

Day 1-2
We will arrive at Queen Alia International Airport and proceed to the hotel in Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, where we will stay the first two nights. We will take some time to visit some of the many interesting places in this wonderful city, home to more than 4 million people. The earliest evidence of settlement in Amman dates to the 8th millennium BC, in a Neolithic site known as 'Ain Ghazal, where the world's oldest statues of the human form have been unearthed. The city was known as Rabat Aman during the second millennium BC and served as the capital of the Ammonite Kingdom, centered at the Amman Citadel which we will visit.
2

Jerash Archaeological Site

Day 2
After breakfast, we leave the hotel and drive to Jerash which is one of the most beautiful and well preserved Roman archeological sites in Jordan. The earliest evidence of settlement in Jerash is in a Neolithic site known as Tal Abu Sowan, where rare human remains dating to around 7500 BC were uncovered.[2] Jerash flourished during the Greek, Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods until the mid-eighth century CE, when the 749 Galilee earthquake destroyed large parts of it. Jerash today is home to one of the best preserved Greco-Roman cities, which earned it the nickname "Pompeii of the Middle East". We will likely have lunch here and afterwards we will drive to Ajloun Castle. Another option, if time permits and we so decide, is to visit Umm Qais instead of Ajloun. Um Qais is another Roman archeological site, located farther north near the border with Syria and Israel, and from there you have a magnificent view over the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights.
3

Ajloun Castle Visitors Car Park

Day 2
Not far from Jerash we will enjoy the magnificent view around Ajloun Castle which is a 12th-century Muslim castle situated in northwestern Jordan. It is placed on a hilltop belonging to the Mount Ajloun district. From its high ground the castle guarded three wadis which descend towards the Jordan Valley. It was built by the Ayyubids in the 12th century and enlarged by the Mamluks in the 13th century. The castle is very well preserved and provides great photo opportunities that I am sure you will like.
4

Amman

Day 2-3
After a nice day of sightseeing we will drive back to Amman and will have dinner in one of it´s many nice restaurants. I strongly recommend experiencing the local cuisine (which is great) but, if you wish, there are many other options available. Amman has definitely many offers that will suit many different tastes.
5

Wadi Rum Desert

Day 3-4
On the third day we will drive to Wadi Rum, one of the nicest spots in Jordan famous for it's magnificent views either during the day or nighttime. Accommodation will be at a cozy Bedouin camp (all rooms have full bathrooms and air conditioning). For an additional fee, if you so desire, you may go on a sunset tour through the desert and, after having diner at the camp, you may also choose to have a late night tea in the desert with the Bedouins while watching the stars or the desert under the moonlight.
6

Wadi Musa

Day 4-5
After breakfast we say goodbye to Wadi Rum and start driving north to Petra where we will arrive around lunch time. We will check-in to the hotel and, after lunch, we will walk to Petra, capital of the Nabataean Empire and one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world. In addition to the magnificent remains of the Nabataean city, human settlement and land use for over 10,000 years can be traced in Petra, where great natural, cultural, archaeological and geological features merge. You will have the whole afternoon to explore the site and, if needed, we can go back in the morning of the next day.
7

Dead Sea

Day 5-6
Once we say goodbye to Petra, we head north to the next stop by the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest place on Earth located 427 meters below sea level. Here we will take time to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the area. The leading attraction at the Dead Sea is the warm, soothing, super salty water – some ten times saltier than sea water, and rich in chloride salts of magnesium, sodium, potassium, bromine and several others. The unusually warm, incredibly buoyant and mineral-rich waters have attracted visitors since ancient times, including King Herod the Great and the beautiful Egyptian Queen, Cleopatra. At the end of the day, take the time to appreciate the sunset over Israel, on the other side of the Dead Sea.
8

Bethany beyond the Jordan

Day 6
On the way back to Amman, we will take some time to visit the place where Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Baptism Site welcomes pilgrims from all around the world seeking spiritual connection to biblical times, a glimpse of history or a chance to be baptized where Jesus was so many years ago. From here we will head to Amman.
9

Amman

Day 6-7
Once in Amman we will check-in to the hotel and spend the rest of the day enjoying the many pleasures this magnificent city has to offer. The idea is to relax, have fun and, at the end of the day, have a good dinner in one of the many nice restaurants in town.
10

Amman

Day 7-8
This is our final day in Amman, so we will do what we haven't done yet and see what we haven't see so far. It's time to buy souvenirs, say farewell to the new friends we made and relax before we start packing. At the end of the day we will drive to the airport and say goodbye to Jordan.
