Guided trip
Hey there, fellow adventurers! 🌄 Are you ready to embark on a journey through the hidden gems of Portugal, where adventure, nature, and wine converge in perfect harmony? Well, buckle up and join me on this trip to one of my absolute favorite parts of the country! First things first, let me introduce myself. I'm João, a 35-year-old hiking aficionado who used to guide treks in the Douro Valley and even worked in the wilds of Rio de Janeiro, my hometown. I've been calling Portugal home for the past six years, and while I've embraced the local lifestyle (about 95%!), my Brazilian accent still shines through. Gotta love that fusion, right? 😄 Now, as much as I adore being a sports teacher, the call of the wild is too strong to resist. So, this summer, I'm dusting off my guiding skills and venturing back to the Douro Valley. Trust me, folks, it's a place that truly steals your heart. I'm a friendly, outgoing guy who lives for adventure, sports, and the great outdoors. Hiking is one of my passions, but let's not forget about the other essentials in life: good food, great wine, and playful banter. And that's exactly what this trip is all about! About the destination: Get ready to immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty and rich history of the Douro Wine Region, the oldest demarcated wine region in the world! This is where the magic happens. Picture yourself hiking through terraced vineyards that overlook the meandering Douro River, all while indulging in tastings, vineyard tours, and gastronomic delights. And let's not forget about the exceptional wines, including the renowned Port wine, as well as the rising stars of dry reds and whites. About the Trip: I'm looking for 5 tripmates (mainly because of accommodation limitations). We'll be staying in Airbnbs that come with fully equipped kitchens (because who knows when we'll feel like channeling our inner master chefs) and we'll be sharing rooms, which means more opportunities for bonding. And guess what? We even have a private pool in Douro to cool off and relax. 😍 Our journey kicks off and wraps up in the vibrant city of Porto. We'll spend the first and last day exploring its charming streets, soaking up the lively atmosphere, and perhaps (definitely) indulging in some local delicacies. Then, brace yourselves for a picturesque train ride alongside the majestic Douro River, transporting us to our haven in the valley for three unforgettable nights. By the way, folks, here's a little secret: we don't have to stick to this plan like glue. Flexibility is the name of the game! I'm more than happy to make changes along the way to ensure we're all having a blast. Plus, we'll have plenty of free time to decide together what we want to do. So, let's keep our options open and embrace the spontaneity that comes with the journey. So, if you're an adventurous soul craving the perfect blend of nature, wine, and camaraderie, I'm here to tell you that this trip is tailor-made for you. Get ready to hike, sip, and savor the Douro Valley in all its glory! Let's make this an unforgettable adventure! ✨ Here's what's included in the price: - Accommodation for 5 nights - Wine Cellar Visit and Port Wine Tasting in Porto - Train Tickets from Porto to Douro and back - Boat and Kayaking Trip in the Douro River - Vineyard Visit and Port Wine Tasting in the Douro Valley - Lunch in a Typical Restaurant during our First Day Hike - I added a TripLeader fee of 40€ for all the hours of planning and emails sent to organize everything What's not included: - Food, except for the lunch on the third day - Our taxi rides in the Douro (as I know some of them, I'll try to get a discount) I'm looking forward to traveling with you! Trip Itinerary
1

Porto

Day 1-2
On our first night in Porto, get ready to immerse yourself in the city's unique charm. We'll stroll through its streets, taking in the local vibes and exploring its hidden gems. And to top it off, we'll visit a port wine cellar where we'll have the pleasure of tasting some delightful port wine while getting to know each other better, and then maybe go for a Francesinha. It's the perfect introduction to the city and sets the stage for an amazing adventure ahead.
2

Pinhão

Day 2
Get ready for Pinhão, the most beautiful city of the Douro Valley! We'll hop on a scenic train ride and explore the city at our own pace. Then, we'll embark on an exciting rabelo boat and kayaking trip along the Douro River.
3

Celeirós

Day 2-5
Finally, we'll take a quick taxi ride to our accommodation in Celeirós, a cute village just 20 minutes away. It will be our home base for the next three nights, where we can cook dinners and relax by the pool after the sunny hiking days.
4

Provesende

Day 5
On our first hiking day, we'll embark on my personal favorite trail in the Douro Valley, heading towards Pinhão. Along the way, we'll pass through the delightful village of Provesende, where we'll treat ourselves to a delicious lunch at a typical regional restaurant. In Pinhão, we'll have the opportunity to visit the vineyards and indulge in a port wine tasting. Then we´re free to take the taxi back to our base or do something else.
5

Sabrosa

Day 5
Get ready for a round trail that will take us through beautiful nature, vineyards, some nice viewpoints, and Sabrosa, the birthplace of Ferdinand Magellan, the trailblazer who led the first circumnavigation around the globe.
6

Favaios

Day 5
After bidding farewell to our cozy home, we'll hop into a taxi and make our way to Favaios, a charming destination where we'll visit the Wine and Bread Museum. Get ready to taste some delicious bread and savor the flavors of the region with a tasting of the renowned Moscatel wine. From there, we'll embark on our third day of hiking, starting our journey towards Casal de Loivos and eventually reaching our final destination, Pinhão, where we'll catch the train back to Porto.
7

Porto

Day 5-6
We have our last night in Porto, and the freedom to shape our evening exactly as we want. While I can offer recommendations based on my 2 and a half years of living in the city, we can also embrace the thrill of spontaneity and try something entirely new. The next day we do the checkout and say our goodbyes, or hopefully, see you again.
