Trip Itinerary

Bristol

Day 1-2
Day 1: Arrival in Bristol Welcome to Bristol! Locals call Bristol the most creative and liberal city in the island nation, and it has lived up to its name. As a cosmopolitan metropolis, it attracts millions of visitors and students from all over the world every year and welcomes everyone. It is also home to the most Michelin-starred restaurants outside of London and the hippest trendy neighborhoods. Depending on your arrival time in Bristol, you can go directly from the airport to the accommodation (check-in is at 4pm) and move into your room. Or we can meet in the city beforehand and use a locker to store your luggage and get to know the city already. Depending on when the other TripMates arrive, I may be able to show you around Bristol. In the afternoon we will go by bus to our accommodation and the afternoon is free. I definitely recommend visiting the Suspension Bridge in the evening when it is illuminated in festive light (no entrance fee required). Be sure to take your camera or smartphone!

Stonehenge

Day 2-3
Day 2: Full day excursion to Stonehenge, Salisbury and Old Sarum Fortify yourself with coffee and a good breakfast for the day's excursion to the prehistoric monument of Stonehenge and the historic city of Salisbury. It's going to be an exciting - and long - day! We'll travel by train from Bristol to Salisbury early in the morning, and from there take a special tour bus to Stonehenge. During the approx. one-hour bus ride, an audio tour will be offered, thanks to which you will learn about the area around Stonehenge and Salisbury (available languages are English, German...). The Stonehenge Visitor Center also offers audio guides in many different languages and we will be able to explore it on our own for a few hours and take cool photos! I have a camera on hand for us there as well, of course. The advantage of a small group is that we are very flexible and can decide how long we stay where. On the way back we make a short stop in Old Sarum, one of the oldest settlements in England. In the afternoon we visit our last stop: Salisbury Cathedral. Here you can see the Magna Carta from 1215, which is displayed in the chapter house of the cathedral. The evening is at our leisure. Either spend more time in Salisbury or return to Bristol for dinner. (All entrance fees, tour bus in Salisbury and train tickets included; bus tickets within Bristol, lunch and dinner not included).

Bristol

Day 3-4
Day 3: Bristol Walking Tour "People say graffiti is ugly, irresponsible and childish.... but that's only if it's done properly." - Banksy If you like, you can really sleep in today, because after breakfast we will go by bus (bus ticket exclusive, currently about 2,50€) to the center of Bristol and explore the city on our own. We will see the highlights of the street art of many generations of street artists can marvel at first hand the original works of probably the most famous artist of our time - Banksy. After the city tour we will have plenty of time for lunch in a restaurant or English pub. I have some suggestions ready for a traditional English "carvery" (meat platter) or for a light lunch. Everyone gets their money's worth! The decision will be made democratically in the group (lunch not included).

Bath

Day 4
Day 3: Excursion to Bath in the afternoon Around 3:30 p.m. and after a short train ride of about 15 minutes, we arrive in the afternoon at the historic old city of Bath, which is famous for the Roman bath of the same name and one of the few natural thermal springs in Britain. For more than 2,000 years, Bath has been a recreational center for the Romans, Anglo-Saxons and today's British. The magnificent city and the entire area have therefore been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We can stay in Bath as long as we like and visit the city according to our plans. I recommend a visit to the ancient Roman Bath (ticket can be bought online in advance, price currently about 23 €. If you are interested, I will gladly send you the website in advance). Dinner is not included in the price.

Bristol

Day 4
Day 4: Departure from Bristol The last day of your weekend trip is approaching. If you have an early flight, feel free to make a breakfast sandwich for the road and brew some coffee. Around 11am is our check-out time. Those staying longer can store their backpack or suitcase in the locker (for a fee) at the train station and use the remaining time to explore the city. I will be in Bristol until the afternoon on Monday, so I will be happy to show you around or give you tips. There are still so many cool things and places to discover in Bristol! There's not much left to add: Sign up now and discover England together!
