Guided trip
Hello hello, dear soul! πŸ‘‹ If you're reading this, you're obviously a little interested in exploring the Azores. This is probably one of the most beautiful places I've ever been in my life. I spent 6 months of the last year living there and working as a marine biologist for a whale-watching company, and I kinda look forward to going back and showing you every little corner from a local perspective. The idea is to stay 6 days on the island, on an Airbnb house shared with 7 TripMates including me. If you're a couple and you guys are looking for a trip like this, even better - there's a room with a king-size bed which can be used for two people instead of one, and we all save some more money to have fun πŸ¦‹ Azores is like a tiny paradise in the middle of the ocean. The entire island has a volcanic origin as well as the other archipelago islands, so it's very iconic because of all the beautiful waterfalls and natural thermal spots in the middle of the forests. You can also find some hotspots on a natural pool on the sea. Since it's ruled by its microclimates, in one area it's sunny as hell and in another close by area could be raining. But don't worry because we're talking about tropical rain! So it goes away as fast as it came. These conditions make the island the best home for all kind of unique flora and fauna, mainly birds and all kind of marine forms. Sperm whales for example are residents on the island, as well as other migratory populations of whales and dolphins that stay there for a season or two. You'll have the opportunity to whale watch these guys in their natural habitat, as this experience is included in the total price of the trip 🏞 So, just to summarize what's included πŸ’° πŸ›οΈ Accommodation in a 5-room house for 5 nights and 6 days πŸš— Renting of 2 cars β›΅ 3h whale watching experience on a speed boat πŸ’° There's also a fee of 50€ per person and a buffer See you soon!

Trip Itinerary
1

Ribeira Grande

Day 1-2
Head north of the main city (Ponta Delgada) to Praia de Santa BΓ‘rbara, one of the few black sandy beaches on the island. We have an option to rent surfboards or have a surf class with friends. The day will end with an amazing dinner in the best restaurant, where we'll eat grilled fresh fish coming directly from the fishermen.
2

Vila Franca do Campo

Day 2-3
Vila Franca do Campo is a city close to Ponta Delgada, very well-known for its typical pastry (my favorite cake in the world). In front of the city, there's a tiny island, called Vila Franca do Campo island. You'll have to take a 5 minutes ferry, and you arrive to this little treasure where you can do snorkeling and enjoy the afternoon!
3

Sete Cidades

Day 3-4
Sete Cidades is a city, meaning The Seven Cities, where the most beautiful lagoons are situated. As you can see in the picture, there are two huge lagoons, one blue and the other one green. They're separated by a bridge and both have different conditions resulting in their different colorations! You have amazing viewpoints and a teashop where you can have the best tea on the island. Then, we'll take a swim in Ponta da Ferraria, the coastal hotspot in the ocean and the day will end with an astonishing sunset at Mosteiros.
4

Furnas

Day 4-5
Here we'll explore one of the most iconic places of the island, Furnas. That's where we have super hot fumaroles coming directly from the ground, a thermal bath in the middle of the nature and a lot of baby cows to pet. Then we'll head to Nordeste to find some waterfalls and hiking trails.
5

Nordeste

Day 5-6
In this last day we'll explore the East part of the island, where we'll do some hikes and visit the most famous waterfall - Salto do Cabrito. We also have nearby Lagoa do Fogo and Lagoa do Congro. As you can see the island has a crazy amount of lagoons and waterfalls everywhere! We can also explore the tea and tobacco plantations
