Weekend in Northern Germany, Baltic Cliffs: Stunning nature, fairytale castles & lonely lighthouses

Let’s discover Germany’s wild north with a hike through a UNESCO heritage forest sitting on top of dramatic white chalk cliffs that plunge into the emerald waters of the Baltic Sea. The cherry on top of our nature adventure is our visit to one of the most Disney-like castles in Germany – Schloss Schwerin and our stay in the charming Hanseatic harbour town of Stralsund. Some of the highlights of the 2 day trips include: 1. Schwerin Castle: Castle surrounded by lakes & forests that just makes it look like something from a fairytale. 2. Stralsund: Historical town from the medieval ages that is also UNESCO World Heritage listed famous for its old town & historical architecture. Also houses the historic German tall ship Gorch Fack built in 1933. 3. Jasmund National Park: Famous for containing Chalk cliffs including Germany’s largest & most famous chalk cliff, the Königsstuhl (King’s chair) as well as an ancient Beech forest that provides a unique ecological phenomenon resulting in UNESCO placing this forest type on its World Heritage list. 4. Sassnitz: Seaside town of Sassnitz has the longest outer pier in Europe with a length of 1,450 metres that leads to a green-white lighthouse.
