Nowadays, our travels are totally different; we go to unwind and learn, and the memories we make along the way are the most valuable things we bring home, along with the incredibly distinctive emotional experiences of every place we visit… Oops! I’m a little off track right now… What to expect? Well, whatsoever, the story can be told. I just want to bring you guys to some places in northern Vietnam that I think would reflect how the Western merchants had seen the Tonkin, in the Age of Discovery a few hundred years ago; as well as some famous names of the history. About the trip: The journey will begin in Hanoi, the 1000-years capital of Vietnam, then to Ninh Binh, where you can see the Trang An Bai Dinh Unesco heritage, also known as an ancient capital of Medieval Vietnam; and finally to Dien Bien with the famous Dien Bien Phu campaign during the first Vietnam War. Plus the incredible nature of the region. Day 1-3: Discover Hanoi - Tonkin like a Western merchant Day 4: Explore the ancient capital city of North Vietnam and the famous Unesco Heritage - Trang an - Bai Dinh. Day 5: Travel to the Northwest region of Vietnam where locates the battlefield of Dien Bien Phu Day 6-7: Camp in the mountainous area of Dien Bien to discover the nature of the region. Exploring a city with 2500 years of history in 3 days is extremely difficult. So we will put ourselves in the shoes of a Western merchant living in the Age of Discovery, with a mission to find trading opportunities between the East and the West, to discover the city. Of course, the journey will not only be restricted to the city's central area. We will drive to an ancient village, a citadel from the late bronze age, and a palace that simulates the life of our ancestors. You will spend 3 nights in a homestay (shared room) in the center of Hanoi. 3 days may be quite compact!

Why is it worth a visit? Because the place is a World Heritage? Yes. Definitely! But more than that, what is brought to you is not just some photos in a certified place. It is a unique feeling of an abandoned ancient capital that contributed to the establishment of the kingdom of North Vietnam. Sorry for spoiling some facts! Then, we will be staying on a farm stay (shared room) with a pool to take a short break before a long ride to the Far Northwest region of Vietnam.

Day 4-8
There is not yet proof that our Western merchants of the Age of Discovery could have traveled to the region. The fact is that it had some common sense, as there existed a trading trail from South China via Laos to North Vietnam years ago. However, the historical event which made the region popular to the people was the battlefield of Dien Bien Phu where the French Colonial Army was defeated by the Vietnamese army. The beauty of nature here is wordless. No less than others like Ha Giang loop or Sapa… For the first day in Dien Bien, we will be in a city hotel (shared room). For the last 2 days, we will be camping in the mountainous area of Dien Bien. Of course, the story is very much to tell, the sight is very much to see. So do not hesitate to contact me for detailed information.
