Guided trip
A bit about me, Maddy here, I am a Kiwi Indian living presently in Berlin having moved here in May last year with my partner from Sydney. Having lived in 5 countries & travelled to just under 40 countries covering 4 continents featuring numerous solo trips and creating new friendships along the way, I can say with a lot of assurance, you are going to have a great time on my trips. WHY GO? Norway is considered one of the best spots for those who enjoy hiking when travelling. It is known by its fjords and northern lights and has the longest coastline of Europe and stunning landscapes & rock features carved by glaciers along with an endless number of waterfalls that lead to the magic fjords. On this trip, we would be hiking to Kjeragbolten, this giant boulder wedged between two cliffs, where you get this once in a lifetime opportunity to actually step into this giant boulder wedged between two cliffs. We would also be hiking to Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen), one of the most popular hikes in Norway. It's great views, relatively easy hiking trail, makes this hike appealing to so many people. And once you stand on top of Pulpit Rock and enjoy the amazing view over Lysefjord, you’ll be hungering for more!!! WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS? Discover Stavanger: Stavanger is Norway's fourth largest city with around 120,000 inhabitants and offers a fascinating mix of old and new. Its history goes back deep into the Middle Ages. Stavanger was once a quiet coastal market and later an important fishing port. But the discovery of offshore oil in 1969 would forever change the fate and shape of the then-bustling city. A visit to the well-preserved Gamle Stavanger, the unique Norwegian Canning Museum, and the 12th-century Stavanger Cathedral are musts for any visitor. Stavanger's old center has some of the most beautiful and best-preserved wooden buildings anywhere in Norway, many dating back to the 18th century. It's all very pretty, and in summer the waterfront comes alive in the best port-town style. Fargegaten - Ovre Holmegate (The Colourful Street): It was hairdresser Tom Kjørsvik who came up with the idea of completely renewing this previously quiet and rather dull street, Øvre Holmegate. Kjørvik's vision was to pump some new and much-needed life into the street, a process that proved to be a lengthy one; it lasted more than four years. The artist Craig Flannagan created the colour scheme for the painting of the houses and the plan had to be approved by landlords and the city council, a process not necessarily done in a flash. The new colors eventually came into place, and it truly livened up the street. Øvre Holmegate is now one of the major attractions in Stavanger. Locals call the street Fargegata (the street of colors). The street is closed to car traffic and was further closed to car traffic in 2005, and it has since been a pedestrian street with life and vibrance. Cafes, bars, and shops established over the years, providing a draw for the visitor. Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock): Pulpit Rock is believed to have been formed centuries ago due to frost erosion that washed away all loose soil on the rock. The result is a conspicuous cliff standing high overlooking the Lysefjord. The result of frost erosion led to one of the most spectacular sceneries in Europe, which shows nature’s architecture at its best. Preikestolen is a popular tourist attraction destination in Norway, drawing local and international tourists. Tours started around 1896, with just a few paying visitors going up to Pulpit Rock. This was because of the relative inaccessibility and lower popularity of this iconic landmark. Hiking Trail to Preikestolen: This iconic hike in Norway involves walking along a 2.5-mile trail to Pulpit Rock from the trailhead. A round-trip hike will see you covering around 5 miles taking around 4 hours. There is a lot to see along this hill trail to Pulpit Rock. From the wet area with a wooden bridge, climb the next section with stairs, which is also the steepest. Close to the top, you open up to a vast open area called Tjødane. This area has three small lakes and an emergency shelter. The Pulpit Rock hike continues past the lakes where you reach the Preikestolen plateau. Kjeragbolten: Norway's terrifying photo opportunity: One of the most popular photo opportunities in Norway is Kjeragbolten. Just because of its strange appearance, it is a destination that everyone should see with their own eyes. It seems rather inconspicuous when we talk about a boulder stuck in a mountain. In our opinion, Kjeragbolten is the best proof that mother nature provides the best templates for an impressive picture on the camera. No human would ever have been able to form such a formation!!! Lysefjord: From Kjeragbolten and Mount Kjerag itself, you can also get a stunning view of the Lysefjord . This 42 km long fjord is located about 25 km east of the city of Stavanger. The name means "bright fjord" in German and is derived from the light-coloured granite rocks on its sides. The small, almost isolated village of Lysebotn lies east of the fjord. At the western end of the Lysefjord, however, you can visit the villages of Forsand and Oanes. There are a few other very small and scattered settlements along the fjord. On the sides, you can discover terrifying rock faces that fall almost vertically over 1000 meters into the water. However, the fjord is not only long and narrow, but also very deep. In places, it is as deep as the nearby mountains. What is included in the price? - Community guide & leader for the entire trip (Speaks English & Hindi). Stavanger

Day 1-4
Day 0: Stavanger - the energy capital of Norway where you would be meeting the guide and the rest of the participants directly at Stavanger bus terminal or at the accommodation. We would be staying in a hotel here for the next 3 nights. Sunday (Day 3) - Post checkout, we spend some time exploring Stavanger before heading back home.
2

Kjerag

Day 4
Day 1 - Hiking Kjeragbolten: We have an early start today and post breakfast, we are off to Kjeragbolten (boulder wedged between 2 hills). Today is going to be a fun & challenging day, however the day starts in typical Norwegian fashion with a beautiful fjord boat ride through Lysefjord to get to the start of our hiking point. Once there we start our hike, which can take around 7 - 8 hours to complete. Kjerag is a challenging hike, that takes you 1000 metres above the sparkling, turquoise Lysefjord below. Post the hike, we head back to our accommodation to rest up and get ready for tomorrow's hike.
3

Pulpit Rock

Day 4
Day 3 - Hiking Preikestolen (Pulpit rock): Post breakfast, we take the shuttle bus to get to the start our hike. Today's hike is easier and should be done in about 4 - 5 hours which should give us plenty of time to rest up and recover from our hiking adventure over the last 2 days.
