My name is Tania, I’m 23 years old and I was born and raised in Mexico City 💚🤍❤️ I love to travel to other countries and get to know different cultures, but this time I want to invite you to get to know my city with two local guides (my brother and myself). My brother’s name is Daniel, he’s 32 years old and he’s one of the most outgoing, uninhibited people I’ve ever met. I, on the other hand, consider myself to be more of an introvert, but I still love to meet people from around the world! Traveling to the biggest city in North America might seem a little scary at first, but with two natives you have nothing to worry about! Some things you should expect from this trip are: 🌸 The gastronomical, cultural, and folkloric experience of a lifetime. 🌸 We’ll get to visit ancient Aztec ruins in the middle of the city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, multiple post-colonial buildings (including a Castle), and of course, the modern metropolis that is Mexico City nowadays, amongst many other places. 🌸 A multi-cultural and friendly group. Mexico City

Day 1

Welcome to our city! Today you will arrive to Mexico City. We will arrange airport transfers (please inform us of your arrival times). In the evening we can enjoy a meal at the hostel for about $250 MXN ($14 USD), we’ll get to know each other and maybe play some table tennis or even join in on the karaoke!

Zócalo

Day 1-2

Today we’ll have a walking tour around the city center! In the morning, breakfast is included and the wellhead to the zócalo, where we’ll see the Metropolitan Cathedral which is situated on top of a former Aztec sacred site, we’ll go into the Templo mayor museum (tickets included) which used to be the main temple of the Mexica people in their capital city, Tenochtitlán (nowadays, Mexico City). Later we’ll stop by the National Museum of Art, which is located in a beautiful neoclassical building and holds a large collection of Mexican art from the mid-sixteenth century to the mid-20th century, and even a temporary exhibition with Monet paintings. We’ll make a stop for lunch (we can recommend you a couple of options with reasonable prices). Later we’ll continue our walk to the Palace of Fine Arts, one of the most popular and beautiful spots in the city, then we’ll pass through Alameda Central, the oldest public park in the Americas and we’ll make our way to the Monument to the Revolution. After that, we can recommend a couple of places for dinner or maybe some drinks, we can get back to the hotel or you can join us on the optional visit to the Lagunilla market. This visit won’t have an additional cost, but it is optional due to the fact that it might not be for everyone (just a matter of personal taste), but if you decide to come, you’ll get to experience a typical Mexican Market (or the way we call them, “Tianguis”) where you can find a lot of traditional, and even international, foods and drinks, maybe shop some antiques or just enjoy the folkloric atmosphere.

Bosque de Chapultepec

Day 2-3

Today we’ll be taking a ride on the city’s tour bus, heading towards the angel of independence and then we’ll take a walk through Paseo de la Reforma, one of the main avenues in the city. After our walk, we’ll arrive to the Chapultepec park, which is considered to be the most important “lung” in the city. There we’ll go inside the Chapultepec castle, which is located on the top of the Chapultepec hill and therefore has some of the best views of the city. We can make a stop for some lunch or a drink, there’s a lot of nice and affordable places inside the park, and later we’ll go to the Anthopology Museum, the largest and most visited Museum in all of Mexico. Later you can decide to stay in the park for a little longer or you can join our next optional activity, which involves watching a lucha libre match. This does require an extra fee of around 17 dollars and a taxi drive to the Arena México, which is the place where we’ll see the match. It is a very typical Sunday activity in the city, it’s family-friendly and also a lot of fun. (If you’d like to join please inform us before de trip so that we can purchase the tickets).

Teotihuacan Pyramids (Botanical Gardens)

Day 3-4

In the morning we’ll head to the Teotihuacán pyramids, a UNESCO World Heritage Site about two hours away from the city. We’ll be picked up at the hotel by our private transportation, then we’ll explore the “Birthplace of the gods” (the meaning of the Nahuatl word “Teotihuacán”) with a certified guide. Afterwards we’ll stop at an artisan market and then have some time to buy some lunch and something to drink and we’ll make our way back to Mexico City. Pick up and drop off at the hotel.

Xochimilco

Day 4-6

Early in the morning, we’ll head to the famous canals of Xochimilco, where we’ll hop on a typical colorful boat, known as “trajinera”, here we can buy some drinks, pay for a private mariachi serenade, or just enjoy the beautiful and festive atmosphere. After that, we’ll head to the center of Coyoacán, where we can walk around and admire the colorful building and get to know the Coyoacán market, and maybe buy some lunch. Later we’re going to visit the museum dedicated to one of the most recognized Mexican artists in the entire world, the Frida Khalo Museum, also known as “the blue house”. Our last stop will be at Colonia Roma (for the cinephiles out there, this is the place where the Oscar-winning movie “Roma” by Alfonso Cuarón is set) one of the most picturesque neighborhoods in the city, with a lot of post-colonial buildings and also a lot of modern businesses, which makes for a nice contrast. After some time spent here, we’ll head back to the hotel.

Day 6

This is our farewell 😢 but hopefully it’s just a see you later! We’ll have breakfast at the hotel and then we’ll arrange your airport transfers (again, please inform us of the time of your departure so that we can have everything ready for you!)
