Trip Itinerary
1
Largo Jesus
Day 1
Welcome to Setúbal! I will personally welcome you at the Airport and take you to the hotel where you will be staying. The Church of the former Monastery of Jesus, or Convent of Jesus of Setúbal, is a church that was part of the Convent of Jesus. Built in the Gothic style, it is located in Setúbal and is considered one of the earliest examples of Manueline style.
2
Forte de São Filipe
Day 1
The Fort of São Filipe, more commonly referred to as a fort or fortress, played a tactical role in reinforcing the line of defense of the Portuguese coast, which was plagued by pirates from northern Europe and Africa. From the fort's walls, you can glimpse one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the bay.
3
Praia Albarquel
Day 1-2
You can take the time to explore the city while we wait for all the TripMates or go for a swim at Praia de Albarquel. If everyone arrives before dinner time, we can visit some spots of the city and have dinner together, getting to know each other, and maybe even go for a drink. Nestled between lush greenery and crystal-clear waters, Praia de Albarquel beach offers stunning views of the Arrábida Mountains. Its golden sands and calm, inviting sea make it perfect for swimming and sunbathing. With easy access to nearby cafes and restaurants, you can savor local delicacies while soaking in the serene atmosphere. Whether you're seeking relaxation or adventure.
4
Mercado do Livramento
Day 2
Built to replace another market that was demolished in 1876, it was inaugurated in 1930. The interior was completely remodeled after renovation works carried out between 2010 and 2011. Notable are the interior tile panels depicting various economic activities of the city, dating from 1929. At the north entrance, there are two additional panels by Rosa Rodrigues, featuring images of the city, dating from 1944. In June 2014, the American magazine USA Today recognized the Livramento Market as one of the best fish markets in the world.
5
Praça do bocage
Day 2
The square pays homage, with a statue, to Manuel Maria Barbosa du Bocage, a native of Setúbal, one of the greatest Portuguese poets. Alongside the square, there are several buildings of historical significance. Here you will also find the historic downtown of Setúbal, which we will explore and get to know.
6
Parque do Bonfim
Day 2
The Bonfim Park is one of the most iconic green spaces in the city of Setúbal. Located in the city center, this park offers a tranquil refuge for residents and visitors, with a relaxing atmosphere and various natural and cultural attractions. In addition to being a leisure spot, Bonfim Park contributes to the quality of life in Setúbal, providing a healthy and natural environment in the heart of the city. It serves as a green lung, helping to improve air quality and offering a space for physical activities and relaxation. In summary, Bonfim Park is a true treasure in Setúbal, offering a versatile and welcoming space for all ages, where nature and the community come together in harmony.
7
Castelo de Palmela
Day 2
As a military structure, the castle served as a lookout post, a communication hub, a support base in wartime, and a control point for the area between Lisbon and the South, between the Tagus and Sado rivers. The Palmela Castle is located in the town, parish, and municipality of the same name, in the district of Setúbal, Portugal. Palmela Castle has been classified as a National Monument since 1910.
8
Serra da Arrábida
Day 2
The crystalline blue of the sea waters blending with the green of nature makes the Serra da Arrábida a special corner of Portugal. Among the trails and paths to explore, there are paradisiacal beaches, breathtaking landscapes and viewpoints, mysterious caves, and castles to visit. The Serra da Arrábida offers a wide variety of activities for you to enjoy. Let's discover more about the goodness this place brings us.
9
Azeitao
Day 2-3
The village where we'll have the opportunity to try some typical sweets from the region. I won't reveal which ones, as it's a surprise, but I promise you'll LOVE them!! Let's take the chance to explore this village, and if there's still time, we might head to Sesimbra, a town situated on the other end of the Serra da Arrábida. We can also decide if you guys want to dinner in Sesimbra or Setúbal. Let's go with the flow! 😎
10
Praia da Figueirinha
Day 3
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Serra da Arrábida, Figueirinha Beach is one of the most well-known and sought-after in the region, renowned for its easy access and the tranquility of its waters. This beach boasts an extensive sandy shore that extends further into the sea during low tide, forming a sort of cove where windsurfing is often practiced.
11
Praia do Creiro
Day 3-4
A very beautiful beach, located at the foot of the Serra da Arrábida. It has a small rocky island that's excellent for diving. On this day, if everyone is interested (we'll decide what time to leave the beach), we can play a game of Padel in the late afternoon. At the end of the day, we'll take a stroll through the downtown area, have dinner at a tapas restaurant, and experience a bit of the city's nightlife.
12
Parque Urbano de Albarquel
Day 4
Let's go on a kayak adventure?? 😄 This day starts very early, so make sure to rest well from the previous day! We'll begin the day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, have a coffee at Casa da Baía (if there's time), and head out for a kayak ride! We should be at Parque Urbano de Albarquel by 09:40 AM. After that, it's up to you whether you want to go to the beach, take a stroll around the city, or head to Lisbon for a brief visit. At the end of the day, we'll have dinner at a quiet restaurant overlooking the river, then head out for our last night in the city, for some farewell drinks 🥂
13
Portinho da Arrábida
Day 4-5
And there it is. The last place where we are going to dinner in this trip! Here we can toast and appreciate the moments we've shared over the past few days, with tired bodies but light minds and full hearts (I hope). From here, we'll then move on to our last night in the city, for some farewell drinks 😊
14
Setúbal
Day 5
Free day! Assuming that the TripMates depart at different times, I will take you to the Airport throughout the day. Depending on the time of your return flights, we may still go to the beach in the morning, have brunch, and I'll take you to the airport later in the afternoon. See if ou can schedule your flight to the end of the day (afternoon/night).
