This trip aims at imparting knowledge and know-how about the Swahili Coast, its cultural history, and contemporary socio-cultural practices as well as exploring Tanzania's richest resources in its diversity. In this tenure, trip mates will have a scope of exploring meticulously the Dar es Salaam commercial city, visiting its cultural resources including museums, historic places, and commemoration environs. On the other side, we will be visiting the nearby Bagamoyo (some 40km on the northwestern side of Dar es Salaam) to experience the historical, and archaeological sites and beaches. Nevertheless, we will be visiting the Kilwa area yielding the World Heritage Sites of Songo Mnara and Kilwa Kisiwani in the Lindi region (some 300km) south of Dar es Salaam which then we'll be traveling to the Zanzibar archipelago. Throughout the period, we will be staying in hotels with private rooms and their costs are covered in the trip do not worry about this aspect. This trip is marvelous and of its kind, it is cheap, guided by a trip leader who is a native at the same time an expert in cultural heritage and tourism management. About me and the trip expectations: I am Denis Bahati Francis, a young Tanzanian who is well-trained and experienced in the travel and tourism industries. My keen interests are directed towards managing and conserving cultural heritage for sustainability while creating unforgettable experiences regarding the abundant heritage resources across Tanzania and its periphery. With this regard, trip mates will get exposure to various aspects related to learning new cultures and languages while at the same time expanding their sphere of enjoyment and excitement. It is therefore expected to learn from each other in terms of experience sharing but also I anticipate my trip mates to learn and experience tremendously from my existence. In this regard; I would like to welcome trip mates who have keen interests in leisure and tourism, archaeology, cultural heritage, anthropology, geology, paleontology, museum studies, history, linguistics, and many others who wish to take an adventure in Tanzania mainland and the Zanzibar archipelago. Dar es Salaam

Day 1-3
The first destination will be Dar es Salaam where we will land at the Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) and be transferred to the hotel. We will spend almost two nights of which we'll have a scope of visiting museums, historic places, commercial markets, and beaches and experiencing local foods. Also, we will be visiting the nearby Bagamoyo historic town which is located some 40kms North western side of the Dar es Salaam city.

Kilwa Masoko

Day 3-5
We will be traveling from Dar es Salaam to Kilwa Masoko by vehicle taking almost 5hrs. Here, we will have time to visit kilwa kivinje, the ruins of Songo Mnara and Kilwa Kisiwani which are designated in the World Heritage Sites list. At this place, we will experience the history and culture of the Kilwa area, and we will have time to visit local markets to experience contemporary lifeways and experiencing local foods. Thereafter, we'll be traveling to Zanzibar by flight to experience its diverse attractions.

Zanzibar Island

Day 5-7
In Zanzibar, we will be experiencing the local foods, the history associated with the place, beaches, swimming, and stone town, and participating in various activities such as performances and events. Zanzibar is rich in beautiful beaches, astonishing cultural history, spices, foods, and aquatic resources. Beyond these, there are a lot of events that can be a part of our trip.

Dar es Salaam

Day 7-8
We will be traveling by boat from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam where we will experience life in the sea throughout the 3-5h journey. We will get to know better the geography, history, ecology, and the nature spanning these two destinations. After arriving in Dar es Salaam, we will have a backpacking event, just saying goodbye and I will take time to take my trip mates back to the airport (JNIA) ready to depart.
