Trip Itinerary
1
Colombo
Day 1-2
Arrival 13 March Let's go. If you want to see Colombo, you can simply arrive a little earlier. We go in the morning (about 10 o`clock) directly by cab (about 2 hours) to Mirissa. We immediately forgot the long flight on the beach.
2
Mirissa
Day 2-6
Mirissia has a great beach and many beach bars - every evening there is a small party somewhere else. There is a lot going on here compared to other places. There is a positive and relaxed atmosphere -> many backpackers who want to relax and party here (and we are one of them). For surfing we take a short tuktuk ride to Welligama (takes only a few minutes). Here you can rent boards or take a surfing course. Mirissa is also the ideal place to do a whale-watching tour. If you feel like it, we will make a day trip to Galle and visit there among other things the fort and the old town. Here the Portuguese and Dutch have left their traces in the past. From Mirissa we travel by bus, tuktuk, train (to Beliatta) or cab to Tangalle (about 45 minutes).
3
Tangalle
Day 6-10
Tangalle has a beautiful, rather quiet beach. I do not promise too much there. Here we walk along the long beach, relax and start several excursions: temple visit, turtle-watching, blow hole, Yala or Udawalawe National Park (incl. leopards and elephants) - whoever feels like it can also visit the children's home there with me and maybe also a school. There is also a lagoon - you can rent canoes and paddle there undisturbed. Surfing courses are also available. Some accommodations also offer yoga. If you like beach volleyball, you will also find it here. From Tangalle you can take a cab to Ella (about 2.5 hours).
4
Ella
Day 10-12
Here we can visit a tea plantation, climb little Adam's Peak or hike to Nine Arches Bridge (each only about 1 hour). We can also visit a rock temple nearby or just enjoy the beautiful scenery.
5
Nuwara Eliya
Day 12-13
Every stay in Sri Lanka includes a train ride. We will travel from Ella by train to Nanu Oya and from there take a tuktuk to Nuwara Eliya. The trip will take about 3 hrs. Nuwara Eliya/Little England - here some things (especially the houses) look very british. There is a horse race track, a lake, tea plantations and also British climate (daily rain at about 20 degrees). If you don't have any warm clothes with you, you can go shopping here for good clothes (well-known brands) at a reasonable price. In addition, there is the best pizza in Sri Lanka! From Nuwara Eliya we travel after one night by cab to Dalhousie/Nallathanniya (approx. 1.5 hrs.) or take the train for the first part to Hatton and from there continue by cab or tuktuk (approx. 2.5 hrs.).
6
Sri Pada / Adam's Peak
Day 13-15
What are we doing here? Get up early! At 2am we get up to climb Adam's Peak - many stairs await us there. After 4 hours we are on top just in time for sunrise! A certainly great end for the trip. After falling back into bed in the morning, we can even stay another night before taking a cab (about 2 hrs) back to Colombo on March 26.

Colombo
Day 15
Return flight on 27.3. Here we spend the night near the airport so that everyone can get to their return flight relaxed the next day.
