Join me on a journey to Spice Island - Banda Naira, Indonesia, where I have a special connection and deep love for exploring. Banda Naira Island has intoxicated me with its beauty and homey feeling with an explorative sensation. It makes life so much alive! So I would like to go there and invite you to join my adventure. I’ve been to Banda Naira 2 times and I always find new things to enjoy and to eat in each visit. Having this adventure together with TripMates, I want to share the way I enjoy this island, its culture, and people, and how to find little joy in each of our gaze and breath. What Will We Do? - Visit Fortresses up on a hill and relish the island from the tower top 🏰 - Explore traditional markets and try local snacks and fruits 🍍 - Try local dishes in a local restaurant - Soak in the sun & swimming in the warm sea ☀ 🏊🏾 - Fieldtrip to nutmeg plantation and drink nutmeg coffee☕️ - Hike up and active-challenging volcano and enjoy the whole islets from above 🚶🏼♀ - Relish the sacred public welling 💧 - And much more! Is there something I missed that you’d love to include? Let me know! How Will We Get Around? We will explore the main island by walking. On this tiny island, everything is within walking distance. Hehe. Blending with the locals as much as possible in a respective way is my goal in each trip to understand their culture and way of life. So we will use public transportation to cross to another island. Who Wants To Join? I’m looking for 2-5 like-minded people who enjoy socializing with locals, spontaneous, exploring nature, local culture & foods, and experiencing new things to join me as TripMates. If you are interested or want to know more, please feel free to reach out 😊 Itinerary & Group Size The itinerary I provided is the big picture of what we will do and what kind of things you can expect to do and enjoy, however, in this secluded island, the weather is sometimes unpredictable so we have to be flexible in moving around our schedule. Please also be aware that the itinerary is subject to change depending on other numerous factors that come with traveling to a secluded island. Our group will consist of a maximum 6 of us (including myself). Meeting Point: AMQ Airport (Pattimura International Airport). It is in Ambon city, Maluku, Indonesia, which means you’ll have to make your own way to the accommodation in Ambon. The flight from Ambon to Banda Naira Island will depart on Monday, at 07.00 AM (Ambon time, NOTE that Ambon time is 2 hours ahead of Jakarta Time), so please be there at the airport at the latest at 06.00 AM on the 13th of November. Visas: Indonesia is a very open country where most nationalities can get a Visa on Arrival. Please check BEFORE booking that are eligible for a visa & you have a valid passport. Insurance: Travel insurance is included if you are a resident of Germany or Austria. You can view all the inclusions & exclusions of this insurance here https://www.joinmytrip.com/en/t/travel-insurance. How to Get to Jakarta Airport - For the flights, there will be a flight to Jakarta, then to Ambon, then to Banda Naira. The flight from Ambon to Banda Naira has been included in the trip costs, but not the other flights. For that, you’ll have to book flights: - To Jakarta, Indonesia. JAKARTA airport code is CGK (Soekarno-Hatta International Airport). - From Jakarta to Ambon. AMBON airport code is AMQ (Pattimura International Airport). Important Notes - Please arrive in Ambon one day before, in the afternoon of November 12th, Sunday, because our flight to Banda Naira will take place on the 13th of November, Monday. - The small-bodied aircraft could change their schedule anytime due to bad weather or certain conditions. We might have to change our means of transportation to the National Ship which could take up to 17 hours to arrive on the island. Please be prepared to spend longer days on this overall trip. Also, when we finally arrive in Ambon City, you should expect to stay in Ambon for a day or two. So if you need to book the flight from Ambon to another city, you may consider booking for the 23rd of November. If you’ll go back straight away to your country, book the flight from Jakarta to your country for the 24th of November. - This is common to happen when traveling to a secluded island in the middle of the sea. - This island’s main source of food is from the sea, so you can expect to eat fresh fish from the sea on most days of our trip, from smoked, to soups, and stir-fry. - Bring a minimum of a one-liter water bottle to refill. We will walk a lot to explore these secluded islands 😊 I want you to always stay hydrated during the exploration. - I also have another trip before this Banda Naira trip and soon to release the future ones which you might be interested to join, please take a look at my profile to check them out 🥰 Trivia ▶ Celebrities like Jacques Cousteau, Price Benhard, Princess Diana, Mick Jagger, and a multi-talented British comedian, Bill Bailey, he even got married to his current wife on this island! Interesting to know, right? ▶ Banda Naira is known for its beautiful marine and abundance of interesting underwater creatures. I don’t do diving, but there are plenty of dive centers on this island that are always ready to serve the divers. You can easily book their service when we arrive at the island and their location is nearby of our hotel.
About me! Hi there! My name is Erdin, I’m a 34-year-old cheerful traveler who likes to celebrate each little thing as the present of this universe. I’ve been traveling around my enormous country, Indonesia, since 2017 and I have a passion to explore this country and of course, the world with new people to create meaningful memories. My style of traveling is always explorative, some challenges involved, but also chill & relax. I don’t see rushing and catching things from A to B in haste as necessary when traveling. Of course, we want to explore when traveling, to see as much as possible, but I always keep in mind that “to not have it” all when I travel. I value each time to have either a packed-explorative schedule, as well as chill and relaxing. Most days will be a combination of both with different proportions. Enjoy more time in one place to let the memory seep into our deep soul with conscious choice and be aware of it. You can read more about me & my sustainability-focused travel principle in my profile 🥰
Where Will We Stay? I’ve been to Banda Naira 2 times, and I have a crush on this antique hotel and a hut on 2 different islands which are part of our stops. The hotel and hut have direct access to the sea, a little verandah, and common areas to congregate, and they will provide breakfast with foods produced by local farmers. Wi-Fi is unavailable in these secluded tiny islands, but no worries, Telkomsel users have a strong signal on the main island. (Ensure you purchase a Telkomsel sim card when arriving at the airport.) This accommodation you see in the pictures will most probably be our home! It might change if circumstances change. NOTE: The price listed is for a Shared Room. If there’s someone you’d like to travel with, please have them join as a separate TripMate! If you have questions about the trip let me know in the Q&A section!
