Guided trip
As you may know in Mexico there are 132 Magical Towns! But San Cristobal de las Casas is definitely in the TOP 5. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This laid-back town is considered one of the best "not so popular" destinations in México, full of culture, history and identity. The colorful city is surrounded by mountains and forests that make its sunsets one of a kind🌄. With its variety of restaurants, cafes and bars, San Cristobal is full of life both day and night.🍻 This small town is home to 12 indigenous dialects, a history of Zapatistas resistance, and endless natural wealth making it perfect for CULTURE FANATICS like me. In the past I lived for a year in San Cristobal de las Casas developing a tourism project with indigenous locals as economic support for their community. After 4 years the time has come to rediscover this town and the progress that the community has made. On this trip, take for granted that you will get to know San Cristobal like a local, for this I have a huge list of restaurants with typical dishes of the region, cultural centers and the best spots to watch the beutiful sunsets. 🌞 The main ACTIVITIES I have planned for this trip are: 🏞️ -Visit by boat the famous "Cañon del Sumidero" and its viewpoints -Visit artisan communities and villages (Markets and close by towns) - A 3-day trip to "Lagos de Colores" (Lakes with 7 colors) with a indigenous community -Hiking and swiming in Chukumaltic cenote - Go swim in "Las Nubes" turquoise waterfalls that impress anyone. - "San Juan Chamula" the only church in the world with a Catholic religious syncretism with Mayan traditions. WHATS INCLUDED -7 days accommodation in San Cristobal (Own bed) -3 days accommodation in cabins in front of the lake (shared rooms) -Transportation to all activities mentioned above -Entrances to activities -A travelmaster fee :) EXTRA TIPS -Bring comfortable boots or tennis shoes (Hiking and alot of walking) -Bring comfortable and warm clothes since throughout the day there are many changes in temperature. Hot day and cold night -Bring a pair of swimwear and items for water activities (goggles, snorkel, sandals) 📢 IMPORTANT 📢 The closest airport is Tuxtla Gutierrez from where you can take a van that for $300 (13 EUR) takes you in 40 minutes to San Cristobal de las Casas. Name of the airport : Aeropuerto Internacional Ángel Albino Corzo. At the moment there are NO restrictions to enter Mexico, but it is important that you review the protocol in case of making a stopover in another country the requirements for covid19. Any questions you may have send me a message ! Hope to see you soon future friend :) Andoni ABOUT ME Im Andoni a 27 years old Mexican travel enthusiast with an adventurous soul. Trip Itinerary
1

San Cristobal de las Casas

Day 1-4
We will stay 3 nights in San Cristobal in a hostel (each with their own room) or an airbnb depending on the group and availability. Basically we will walk around the city visiting the most important points such as its famous "Andadores", markets and churches. We can take the free walking tour and also do a tour of street art and murals if you find it interesting. Lastly and most importantly, FOOD!! I have a list of suggestions of the best places to eat as we say in Mexico with the 3 B's Bueno Bonito y Barato (Good nice and cheap)
2

Sumidero Canyon

Day 4
Visit to the Sumidero Canyon, one of the most impressive natural wonders of Chiapas. We will start of its viewpoints that reach up to 1000 meters high to have a panoramic view of the route that we will then take by boat for 2 hours. We wil see many animals of the region such as crocodiles, monkeys, etc. At the end we will stop to eat in Zinacantan a smalltown with alot of hand made crafts of all kinds.
3

Lagos de Montebello

Day 4-7
They will pick us up in San Cristobal to go to the Montebello Lagoons where we will live with the indigenous community for 3 days, this community that is mainly dedicated to coffee production offers us some cabins in front of Lake Tziscao A LAKE OF 7 COLORS!! We will eat local food and enjoy the landscape and its natureAlso serving as our starting point and return for the following activities. ATTENTION! There is no signal in this area so it is a total disconnect.
4

Chucumaltik

Day 7
With 200 meters wide and 70 meters deep, Chukumaltik is considered the most beautiful cenote in Chiapas. The water is always at a comfortable temperature of 20 C - 23 C which makes it perfect for a visit of complete relaxation. It is possible to dive, so if you have your diving certificate, do not hesitate to do it and visit an incredible statue of a virgin in its depths. It is also highly recommended to bring a mask or goggles to enjoy its crystal clear water.
5

Las Nubes

Day 7
Leaving early is the best strategy to seize the day in a turquoise river and waterfalls. Just 2 hours away we will find this natural beauty waiting for us to swim, hike and listen to the songs of the birds that inhabit it.
6

San Pedro

Day 7
Visit to the town of San Juan Chamula, 40 minutes from San Cristobal, where there is the only church in the world with a Catholic religious syncretism with Mayan traditions. Although out of respect photographs are prohibited inside the church, it is definitely an experience worth living. The combination of religions is reflected in the aesthetics, the decoration and the ceremonies that take place. There are no benches or a priest for mass, but rather a floor full of pine leaves and thousands of candles.
7

San Cristobal de las Casas

Day 7-11
The idea is to return to San Cristobal, calm plans and prepare for the farewell. For this I have as a suggestion to go to the "Montaña de Don Lauro" a hiking trail with the best view of San Cristobal where we can make a picnic.
